I want root access to my phone. I have read that hboot version 2.0 can't be s-off via revolutionary..
So, is it advisable to downgrade the firmware to 2.3.3 and then get root access?
If so, how to downgrade the firmware??
Please tell me the step by step method for Indian Incredible S..

You might be able to find and follow this sticky
You just want root access right? You dont have to S-OFF. Unlock your bootloader, flash a custom recovery and flash Super User. S-OFF is for flashing custom ROMS and Radios etc..

The threads that have been offered supply adequate details for those that have searched, read and study how to successfully mod a HTC Android phone, especially with the unlocked bootloader. I suggest you do more research and studying on your own.
The days of a simple one click S-OFF and rooting the IncS are gone and it takes a knowledge of using the Android SDK tools adb and fastboot to be successful.
I don't remember we ever had One-Click method for Incredible S

We had AlphaRevx and Revolutionary early on, which was fairly easy for noobs to use. Also there was a one-click thread in the Dev section for HBOOT 1.09.
My friend asked me to root his phone,I have done it to my HTC desire s but he installed the ics ota update,I was wondering if I can install the GB version because it had the old hboot to root it via revolution.io

The latest version will work with the stock ICS ROM as long as you unlock the bootloader at HTCDEV.com first

Yes but you must be on a stock GB or stock ICS rom and then you can. Read the OP in the S-Off thread and you will be fine

hey guys if someone could please upload an actual WORKING link for a Rogers ICS RUU for the HTC Raider that would be AMAZING and I would be deeply in your debt. I have looked everywhere.
Also: I need the RUU to fix my wifi after a bad kernel flash. If you know of a work-around for this issue that would be equally helpful.
Thanks in advance!
Well you are in luck I just uploaded the rogers ruu on my thread in the development section and you could just flash the kernel again if it was a bad flash
