Im pretty screwed it would seem? I guess t-mobile isn't that popular? I have yet to see any roots or anything else pertaining to 10.3.1.E.0.191 build on the T-mobile Xperia Z. It's stuck with a locked bootloader, and im kind of cornered here...So if anyone has ever rooted and downloaded a ROM to this phone, please explain to me how you've done it, It would seem no one else here knows of any solution since tmobile has gone full retard, well, I guess full genius in not allowing their phones to be Rommified.
Again...anyone with a T-mobile Xperia Z with the above specs please assist.
Sorry if this seems like a dumb question, but are you saying that you are not able to flash a generic, unbranded rom on your t-mobile phone?

I can flash a rom, but when I do, WiFi wont activate, it gets stuck on turning on...and no one seems to be able to figure out why, right now it's back to standard everything, no root, just basic....it would be nice to be able to do something with it

Are you excluding anything in the ftf when flashing, and are you performing wipes?
Just so I get this straight:
He, with his T-Mob branded phone, can flash any generic 6603 firmware?

Correct. He can flash C6602 firmware as well, but will loose LTE.
Some firmwares seemed to disable my wifi. .The .67 firmware, ES unbranded for 6603 has been the most trouble free version to run on my 6606. It is rootable without too many extra steps, and all the features work, and plenty custom roms use it as a base. Your best bet is to download several ftf files, both different regions, and different firmware versions, so you can compare and see which one runs well, lets you get lte, and wifi. Most 6603 fw will let you get lte but it wont show when you first start up, you have to "download internet and mms settings" then go into networks and choose lte or 4g preferred. If it still doesnt give you 4g you can flash just the baseband from the tmobile firmware over and that should resolve it. Some will tell you to flash the FOTA as well, I never do because I dont want any notifications from tmobile to update my crap, I can do it just fine here.

Got my droid 3 off ebay (yeah i know :/ lol). unlocked it no problems but for some reason i have the worst reception in the world (pretty much 0 bars, although the 3G indicator is on; all the signal indicators are blue)
by default, the phone goes into GSM/UMTS mode (and the indicators are blue)
but sometimes the signal drops so low that the phone asks me if i want to go into "global" mode (that's when i get 1 bar at most and it's white).
even when the indicator's rock bottom, i still have signal, the data connection doesn't seem to work, (that may be because i've been using it off of wifi this morning and i didn't notice IF it was using the data connection) and i can still make and receive calls (ditto for texts). This afternoon though, the signal's completely dropped off the earth and the wifi connection doesnt seem to be working anymore. It's a verizon droid unlocked, I'm using it on Telus right now.
here's the phone info from that code you put into the dialer
signal strength fluctuating between -97dBm and 109 dBm and 6-9 asu
running on the HSPA network
GPRS is connected
not roaming
the phone passes all ping test results
i'm not sure what other information you guys would want to see but lemme know and i'll throw it up here
thanks in advance
On a side note..I remember you could make sure it wouldn't ask to go global mode anymore.. but can't find it. Anyone know how?

I'll get my droid 3 this week (i'm in europe). I will try to flash XT883 rom if I'm not satisfied with the default rom. Do you just install RSDlite and flash? It's that easy?
Does the file have the .890 updates? Can you re-root and debloat easy or do you need the OTA-rootkeeper or whatever it's called?
Thanks

There's a dedicated thread.
BTW you need just rsdlite and the fw file.
Is rootable.
There's an OTA update which isn't rootable, so you have to flash, root, install ota rootkeeper and backup the root, then install the ota update.
Most of the chinese bloatware is not installed in system so is uninstallable like any downloaded problem.
P.S. Going from Xt862 to Xt883 and viceversa will wipe the phone, so do a titanium backup if needed .
So the XT883 has an OTA update that isn't rootable, while the XT862s OTA update IS rootable?

To those of us who had somewhat weaker signal on LTE and frequent loss of high speed data on kitkat. Here is what you need to do regardless of which custom or stock rom (as long as it is kitakt) you have:
Go to mega FTF section and download C6903_14.2.A.0.290.Global_LTE.ftf. Use flashtool to flash baseband only. This means: uncheck everything and exclude everything except baseband. Flash the baseband and reboot. My signal for LTE and 3G went up 30-40dbm.
This will work on both locked and unlocked bootloaders...

You've got to read instructons carefully. Uncheck means remove all checks in the top window of flash tool. Exclude means check everything you don't want to change in the bottom window. So, if you checked "exclude baseband" you did not flash baseband. If you did not check exclude kernel and others, that means you flashed stock 4.3 kernel. That is why you went into bootloop.

First of all, I am not sure that Z1 compact has the same issue. If it does, you should try to flash JB 4.3 baseband for Z1 compact (not Z1 baseband).
We will never know the issue, because basebands are highly proprietary and patent protected. You just have to try and compare...

Hey,
I just want to completely reformat my phone. What would be the best way, flashing stock FW using Odin, or simply doing a reset to factory via settings? I don't care about data/time/etc just want the best way to start new on the latest FW (which the phone is currently on right now).
It's an unlocked SM-N950U1 for the US market, direct from samsung.
Thanks!

it helps to know the variant model you have now first. Is it unlocked abroad, or the states. Is it locked to carriers, or a mnvo. Odin can be a crap shoot, and no assurance of a custom rom working. Mainly KNOX security, thanks to samdumb does prevent roll backs, and i'm sure the next replies from others will guide you. Be sure, you know the risks. One WORD......BRICKED. Im not here to debate this, and until further info on present device model, not much can be said now. You can do a FDR via the button reset manner or menu UI driven. Odins for custom flashes of variants of firmware IF permissible.
Damn, totally forgot. This is an unlocked SM-N950U1 for the US market, direct from samsung.

what are your intentions to improve its performance if needed or desired since its unlocked anyway. what isnt working or what do you want to add or change.

I have the Exynos model, but my rule of thumb is generally to flash firmware through Odin. Factory reset is fine too, but if things are still wonky then something could have become corrupted (in which case a clean Odin flash will replace those files with the proper ones and solve the issue).
I Downloaded The Fw From Sammobile, Yes Its Was Very Slow, Thats Why I Re-upped It Untouched To Androidfilehost, Much Faster To Dl For Others.
Only For Snapdragon Variants, Its The Universal Firmware, Its Free Of Carrier Bloat But Has Some Samsung Useless Apps.
Not For Exynos Variants Like The Sm-g935f, Etc.

Idk If Auto Updates Work, Although Update Options Are Available From The System Menu
Instructions:
Dl Zip, Extract Zip, Put Phone In Dl/odin Mode. Run Odin As Admin, And Load Each Cp, Ap, Bl And Csc(Dont Use The Home Csc As I Read Its Fracks Things Up), Just Use "Csc_oym" File In Odin
Fyi. I Used Princes Odin But Failed, Used Untouched Odin And It Flashed Successfully. Was On Nougat 7.0 Sim Unlocked SM-G935A At&t Branded Stock Fw. I Included Both For Your Pleasure.

Hi Vincom, yes i have already read the article. the main reason im flashing the rom is because of the hidden DATA icon in the toggle screen. and also i want my phone to have the OREO update as well. this is my first samsung phone. i have experience in flashing ROMs in my xiaomi redmi 1s phone. so im a bit skeptical if i can do this on my own. this odin process is very new to me. so what is the worst thing that can happen it i brick my phone? can i do a hard reset and will it default to the stock AT&T ROM if ever?

yes and no, csc controls what bloatware and which settings are setup by default dependant on carrier and country, hence why this is a universal fw and not dependant on original csc files.
if u truly have the att s7edge g935a, which is what i had, then yes.

The author claims performance and battery improvements but has anyone that switched over really noticed that big of a improvement?
I mean i already disabled all the carrier bloat with adhell isn't that basically the same as installing this rom? Does the universal maybe have a different kernal/different system level tweaks?

Thanks a lot, this firmware works for me with the 3b patched odin on the first try.
Before I start, I apologize and I know this shouldn't be in the Q&A Thread but I am a new user and unable to post it in the other thread
So I recently purchased a Galaxy S10 from Best Buy and I noticed I didn't have Advanced Call features such as Wifi-Calling and Video Calling. When I had asked about this, it turns out that I had purchased the unlocked S10 and had them set it up with my provider as Verizon.
I have been reading some posts by iBowToAndroid and I am wondering if I would be able to flash my phone into being locked with Verizon and get the Advanced Calling features without losing anything on my phone currently.
I already have the G973U firmware files from iBowToAndroid's post as well as the Verizon USERDATA file. I also tried setting up Samsung USB Drivers but the install failed. I'm not sure if this is necessary as I am still very new to this whole thing.
If this is possible, what version of Odin should I be downloading?
Is there anything else that I would need?
I'm using v3.13.3 and it's working perfectly fine.

I had this happen as well...then got a firmware image (from sammobile) with a later date than the firmware that was on my phone already. Flashing that newer firmware image was successful the first time through. Although in my case I was flashing back from T-Mobile firmware to unlocked firmware, same idea. I think that it might have been related to needing a newer boot version or something, but until I got the later version of unlocked firmware, the flash would fail reliably at abl.elf, before it got rolling.
And the version of Odin that worked for me was the patched Odin3_v3.13.1_3B. Didn't try the unpatched version.
