[Q] Xperia T worth buying now? - Sony Xperia T, TL, TX, V

My last phone was a Xperia Arc (loved it, only issue was low RAM), I lost it and now I need a replacement. I need a cheap android WITH MHL or HDMI port. I came across Xperia T for 240€, which is good enough for me. I know every phone has its issues, so I ask you if you think this would be a good choice. Im suprised at how "cheap" it is with such a fancy camera and other specs (which I dont really need), but I cant find a decent phone that has TV-OUT within this price range.

I suggest taking the Xperia V. It's a little smaller (an advantage imo) and waterproof ^^
By the way it also has LTE support, if that matters for your region

Im looking into it and I like it. Do you know if it has the same issues as Xperia T ("sudden death")?
Thanks for your advice.

Internals are almost identical, but...
Xperia V is waterproof, and is smaller, and is having removable battery.
Xperia T is having bigger display, is better looking (this is subjective of course), and is having doubled internal memory.
Comparing them side by side...
http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=4958&idPhone2=4899
...you'll notice that Xperia V appears to be slightly taller and thinner, and this is where Xperia T gets my voice for being prettier.
They are actually the same height, but V is 2,3mm thinner, and bezels appear bigger.
I was in the same dilemma three months ago, when I sold my Xperia Arc S, and I chose Xperia T, and honestly, I love this phone.
It's sexy, nicely built, and Jelly Bean is working quite good out of the box. This is the first phone that I haven't armed with some custom ROM.
It all comes down to personal taste really, when choosing between T and V. Some will say V, some will say T.
I say check some reviews, some videos, and make your own decision. Never ask for suggestion on public forums.

ehm, no..., but...maybe in Australia :silly:
Im in Germany, and the XT is some sort of a really cheap nice deal, and its not same prized like the XZ. You pay nearly 100euro more for the XZ
You can get the XT round about 230euro +/-
But whatever, best argument for the XT is the look and feel and the displaysize-hardwaresize relation, better than on the XV.
And we have omnirom support, another good argument, if you like flashing custom roms

[Q] Xperia SP Users, please I need your suggestion on buying SP

Hello everybody,
Actually I was planning to purchase new xperia device... according to my budget, I thought of going for Xperia SP.
The reason for this thread is .. Can I go for SP as I am getting it in 19000 INR from ebay.in.. It is worth to buy or should i go for ZR which is 8000 INR more than SP price..
Will SP be future proof for atleast a year and will it Honami style 4.3 update. or just a common 4.3 update.
What do you think guys please.. suggest me!!!
and about considering the problems SP users are facing.
I don't Know how much is this in €. But SP is a really good choice! Buy the SP!
Sent from my C5303 using xda app-developers app
Test the Camera before by XSP. Picture size and quality is no more up to date. Not poor, but other devices (XS or HTC one) make better pictures. All other works great.
Value for money phone
Since I own a Xperia SP for more than 2 months now, following are my impressions. Since I am being critical I'll list negatives first.
Negatives:
Xperia SP's biggest weakness is its camera. Pictures in low light are very bad for its price... pictures in day light are ok, but nothing too good. Pictures taken by SP have more noise in them. So over all SP's camera is very much worse as compared to, say, Galaxy S3's.
The screen is not as good as Super Amoled screens of Samsung's Galaxy series or HTC's & LG's IPS LCD. However, while indoors you will not have any issue. While outdoors, the screen is a bit reflective but is still manageable. I haven't faced any other display issue till now.
Wi-fi reception is truly a bit weaker than other phones, but the internet speed is not affected. Only range is lesser.
Some people have encountered the touch issue when the phone is kept on a table & not in your palm. Some people have also faced a bit of trouble while the phone is plugged in for charging via AC adapter. However, I haven't faced any of these issues.
Positives:
The best part about SP is its performance. Snapdragon S4 Pro is simply a beast and Adreno 320 GPU blows the competition out of water. Current flagships of various brands like Xperia Z, ZL, ZR, HTC One and LG Optimus G Pro all have the same GPU.
SP has 1 GB RAM, which although is not equivalent to these flagships, is enough even for the heaviest of games/apps available in market. However, real racing 3 has some issues. Other games run very well.
Another plus point of SP is its build quality & design. It doesn't look cheap like Samsung GS3 or GS4. The illumination bar at the bottom is a very nice aspect of the design.
The battery performance of SP is one of the better ones.
When used with Bravia Engine 2, the display is awesome while indoors. It is sufficiently bright.
PRICE!!! A total value for money.
So, keeping all these in mind I would suggest:
If you are too much in cell phone photography, explore other mobiles. Galaxy S3 could be good choice in that case. Glaxy S4 mini and Nexus 4 are also there. However, all these cost slightly more than SP.
If 20K is your budget, then go for SP. You won't find a better phone at that price.
If you don't want even slightest of performance issue, surety of many more updates & have the extra budget then you can also give Xperia ZR a serious thought. It has a faster processor, more RAM & better camera in addition to being dust & waterproof. Battery life of ZR is even better than SP's.
Pretty much agree with the post from the_helix.
I think Sony have been clever with this device, they have taken away the things that average/practical users don't really care about.
Do you really need 400+ PPI, 1080p screen, a big internal memory if there's space for a memory card, more RAM etc? They have instead made sure that the processor is top notch, given it 4G and NFC - so you get almost flagship performance at half the price.
Yes some things could be better (there is always something to complain about - the S4 and HTC One are not immune from this either), but with a bigger screen and more robust build than the competition in this price range (the mini S4 and mini HTC One) I think this is the best mid-range phone on the market.
I think it's future proof - but within reason, some games developers always push the boundaries and make software that will only run really well on top devices. I think/hope it will see the next iteration of Android - is it really going to be called kit-kat?
hi,
purchased today my xperia sp in ebay.in. waiting for delivery. so now i being here for have a glance. iam biggest fan of sony till now i used four mobiles from sony, ( J230i, w810, x8, mini pro). and this is my fifth from sony. hope this mobile will meet my expectations. will join u later guys after getting my sp in hands. cheers!

I brought my ZR with my friend and he brought the SP together. SP is good for who want a cheaper price, not targeting for a better camera. For SP, you can set the notification LED colors for different apps but ZR cannot. If you think the prize for ZR is reasonable, and you want better battery experience, quad cpu, waterproof phone, replaceable battery, then ZR is a good choice. SP seems a little heavier as it uses metal case I think. One more major difference is that ZR has cover for micro usb and headset plug. It's a little inconvenient but some will take those covers as a plus as they can protect the phone from dust. Also ZR is obviously smoother in my point of view.
All in all, if you don't think price is a major problem and the function of the phone is important to you, then I think ZR is your choice.

[Q] Still worth it?

So, I'm looking for an upgrade to my ages old Xperia Ray.
With Xperia Z2 now out, and Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z1 compact priced less than $50 higher than the Xperia Z. Is it still a good grab?
I've been in this dilemma since quite a couple of days now.. I saw the Z in a store and found it the best size. I know Z1 might feel a little awkward coming from a 3.3 Xperia Ray(its bigger than Z), and I just don't like the bezels on Xperia Z1 Compact. My other options are HTC One and LG G2. But I don't trust LG as a brand.
So back to the point, is Xperia Z still a good buy over the Z1 and Z1 compact? and why?

Xperia z is agood phone but the only problem is it's around an year old now, sony said we will get 4.4 update but i don't think we will get any ore after that , Z1 and z1 compact being newer, will surely be updated for a long time, and as they have s800 soc so they are more future proof
Bdw,go in for LG g2 if you dont like the z1 or z1 compact as that is a great phone, and is also future proof as it has the same specs as nexus 5
pick htc on lg. if i were to pick, i'd take lg because I've never had an lg phone and specs are awesome.
sony? i think i'll never buy it again. throwing out 5 different flagship phones in 1 year, customer support sucked, warranty problems sucked, display was dissapointment,... ui experience however was great. other bugs may annoy you.

not really better than Z.
The best would be lg g2
Gesendet von meinem Nexus 5 mit Tapatalk
Depends what you need from a phone. Contrary to what lots of people say, the screen as compared directly to the Z1 is barely different with properly adjusted white balance and saturation. The camera is excellent but the battery life could be better. I like that with a 5 inch screen it's still smaller then the Z1, the Z1 feels much more slippery because while the edges are made from aluminium, the bezel of the front and back panels is surrounded by a super slick plastic rather then the soft touch finish of the Z. I'd still go for something like a Z1 Compact, Z2 if you really want top end specs and a much bigger battery.
Lg have really gotten their **** together with the G2.
people have reported excellent performance with excellent battery life.
it also got 4.4.2 kitkat before the xperia z1...which still hasnt gotten it yet.
and despite it having a 5.2inch screen, it honestly doesnt feel that big.
I would not suggest you to go with the Z1 Compact if you do not like it's size and bezel.
Whether to go with Xperia Z or Z1 will depend on a few factors:-
1. Snapdragon 800 vs S4 Pro - Do you need or want better performance and battery life?
2. 3000 mAh vs 2300 mAh - Do you want better battery life?
3. 170g vs 146g - Are you alright with the Z1 being heavier?
Personally I prefer the bezel size of the Z as Z1 has thicker bezel but it all comes down to personal preference.
Based on the specifications alone, Z1 will be the winner if the price of both phones are very close.

[Q] Xperia Z1 vs. Z1s or should I wait for Z2?

Hi everyone,
So I am thinking of getting an Xperia phone, I am a huge Android fan, never used a Sony phone before and currently having a Galaxy S4. I am attracted to Xperia's configuration and wanting to giving it a try. However, I am not sure which one should I pick. Here are couples of questions I am having in mind. Maybe you all can help me decide. Thanks a bunch!!!!
1. Between Z1 and Z1s, which one I am better off with? I know there aren't much differences between them but if I was to go with Z1, will I get LTE 4G network with Tmobile since it is an unlocked phone? I really like the varieties of color choices and I love the purple version.
2. Between Z1 and Z2, since Z2 is coming out soon, should I just wait for it? However, I am hearing rumors that the Z2 won't be launching in the US for a while. Any insider scoops?
Thanks for all of your advice*
Definitely Z2.!

if you get a z1, it can't be from the sony store if you are in the us. you need to get the 6903 6906 or 6943 to get t-mobile lte.
the z1s from tmobile also has no root and is more than likely not an unlockable bootloader..
2. IMHO the only think the z2 has is that 120fps video recording. its pretty much a tweaked z1. would not spend the money on it as it will probably be more than $600 at launch.
wait for the z2 release which is supposed to be soon and it should drop the price of the z1

The z2 also has better screen, dual front facing stereo speakers and 3gb of ram. And a newer chipset s801 a faster version of s800.If I have money to spend , I'd get the z2. If I'm on tight budget or saving money, i'd get the z1 or maybe lg g2 haha..

i don't like front speakers since i keep the phone screen against leg, and i know alot of people put their phone face down. so that's mostly preference (phone speakers suck anyways and i rather use headphones) botton or side speakers are harder to have muffled in pockets, etc than front speakers.
kickstand case = front speakers
naked phone = bottom or front (since you are holding it)
and the viewing angles aren't really an issue when using a phone, if you really need such high viewing angles get a phone with an ips display (at those angles either screen looks bad trying to use it, nexus 4,5 and xperia z. no idea how people complain about it)
ram is nice, i'm fine with 2gb. slightly faster s800. doubt the ram and slight performance increase will be worth the price difference.
the only thing that'll really be different between the two is no 120fps on the z1 (for now)
i doubt you'll notice the cpu in games or everyday use, file transfers might be quicker. if you watch videos on your phone with multiple people you might get a better experience, if you are on stock based fw it hopefully won't hog all the ram for no reason (tmo z, sometimes get a launcher redraw, never did on my nex 4. phones are pretty much the same except sony fw hogs ram with nothing running so those 3gb are probably not all that great when you can skip the bloated sony base on the z1 and the z2 might be SOL for awhile and atleast the z to z1 jump was a big difference soc wise).
the z and z1 only do 30fps video recording which isn't as nice as 60 or 120fps for fast moving things (cars, rc things, etc).
pretty much the only 2 (maybe 3) things that will make a big-ish difference in using day to day depending if you actually do any of this with your phone very often are (not in order of easiest to notice)
the front facing speakers
120/60fps video
better viewing angles
oh, that higher cost too
i'd actually record things with my phone if it did 60/120fps.
currently i don't recommend those who've asked if they should get a z1s ($600 and tmobile, new z1 is 510 online and the only z1s's being bought new on ebay are selling for less than a used z1. besides that it feels cheap because plastic bezel (cheap abs glossy plastic. not a nice fiber reinforced).
z2 comes out and the z1 should hopefully go for 450 new or less (which would make the z2 even less of a good idea since it'll have a lower bang for buck than the z1 since it's just a z1+ 2.2-2.3ghz ~100mhz increase in fsb, changed the panel to adress an issue (that is probably due to the ASF which i removed since the glass can still crack, and it's easily scratched plastic) 2-3gb ram.
moved speaker can be a plus
software for the camera may move to the z1
i'm kinda ranting so i'll stop
but just like cars or other electronics newer doesn't guarantee it's better or worth it, only that it is newer and "shinier"

Help on Deciding.

Hey guys, i have quite allot of android phones and i have tried to stay away from Sony since they lock their boot loaders and it looked like it was hard to develop anything i haven't gotten one (the old ui was FUGLY as well). i own a T989 Galaxy s2 (in fact i own three of them!) as my Main for right now and its getting pretty old (cpu and gpu are old and Games are not as well handled as they used to) i have been thinking of getting a new phone and that phone i have come down to is either a Samsung Galaxy mega 6.3 or a Xperia Z or Xperia SP, i have never payed attention to the Xperia line and they have a pretty good thing going for now, i think i might have to move them to my list of jobs i might take up . everything about the Xperia Z looks pretty great, everything beats out my s2. thought im worried that i have heard that xperias TFT Screens have TERRIBLE veiwing angles, i dont honestly know if i care about that but do any of you get disappointed by this? and do you think it would be the same on the Xperia SP? if so please state what you dont like about the Xperia Z, your Help is appreciated .

i see that the Xperia Z1 compact only has a 4.3" screen. my s2 has a 4.5" and i would like something bigger or equal to that. i see that the Xperia Z2 Compact will have a bigger screen but when it comes out is unknown. im sure i wouldn't mind the poor viewing angles, but the real question is would i be fine with the SP or do i need a bigger screen (Xperia ZL) for $100 more?
Im viewing my phone head on and don't really want people watching my screen so the 'terrible' viewing angles don't mean much to me. When I show people videos on my phone no one has complained saying they cannot see. Im an ex Z user and current Z1 user. Id go for the Z out of your choices.

S2 have the same 4.3" like Z1 Compact
While Z2 Compact would probably be around 4.6"

Z2 is the best choice

If you are looking at the Z2, i personally suggest looking at the newer HTC One M8 and S5.
Sony has JUST begun to catch up with competition, an example is they finally use IPS displays that don't give washed out colours.
Another thing that is an issue as of right now is, their software updates arrive late and with serious bugs, just take a look in the Z Ultra, Z1, Z1 Compact sections about their 4.4 update.
Also, the Z2 has quite large bezels.
Another thing to keep in mind is, when the next flagship Sony comes out soon, Sony will shift most their focus to that device, resulting in the Z2 having a shorter life as a top priority device compared to other companies devices.
(Sony has a 6 month flagship rotation, other companies usually have a one year flagship rotation)
Sony has begun to improve slowly, but to me, Sony is still a risky choice if you are looking for a flagship grade device and support.
All this is just my personal opinion
