Does anyone know how (in KitKat) to add the Menu button (big one, not the three dots) to the Nav Bar, preferably replacing the Recently Used apps (which I don't think I have ever used in my three years of droiding...). Gravitybox will allow me to make the three dots always viewable, but I haven't found a solution that will put the big button back...

I have the latest Paranoid Android on my note7000. I enabled softkeys on the navbar because it gives me the recent apps button which I find far easier than long pressing the physical home button. However now I have two home buttons (a soft and a hard) as well as two back buttons. I was wondering if it was possible to reprogram one of the duplicates. The feature I was thinking would be great for one of these buttons are the toggles (GPS/WiFi/BT, etc). PA already gives me all the toggles I need from the notification bar, but what I don't like about it is that I need to tap twice. The first tap on the status bar brings up notifications and then the 2nd tap brings up the toggles. It would be nice to have this as a single tap. If one of the soft buttons could be programed to bring up wigitzoid or other toggling widget that would do it. Or if there is another equally fast way to bring up these toggles, please let me know. (I prefer not to have to go back to my homescreen to get to the toggles.). Thanks in advance for any ideas.

quick question, on the One X you could use the multitasking button as a menu button whilst in apps, but surely this isnt possible on the One, as it only has two off screen buttons. will we have to have that annoying grey menu strip when in apps on the One?
Not sure if we will have that menu strip (should be able to turn that off in custom ROMs) but the back button (press-and-hold) doubles up as menu.
allready in work. maybe its done in a couple of hours.
I have an unlocked rooted VZ Dev Ed with Xposed and Gravity Box and Ultimate Nav Bar module. But I still can't figure out how to add a magnifying glass to my stock soft keys. Ultimate Nav Bar only seems to give me yet another Nav Bar that pops up when I press the trigger but doesn't replace my existing soft keys. Maybe I'm not setting up Ultimate Nav Bar correctly?
I like having persistent softkeys or at least ones that are easily accessible with a swipe up. (Although swiping up from the bottom seems to trigger Google Now so I set Ultimate Nav bar to be triggered by a press on the right instead of a swipe.)
I prefer the stock softkeys to Ultimate Nav Bar anyway. I did add the three dots menu to my stock softkeys but I would also like to add the magnifying glass for search. Is this possible? If not, how do I completely replace the stock softkeys with Ultimate Navbar?
Judging by the lack of response - I guess its not possible (Unless I want to flash a CM rom.)
I just want to say "Me Too". This is the biggest thing I miss from the AOKP ROM. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be an Xposed module that does this. (No, Gravitybox's extra button does not provide the context sensitive search I'm looking for).
Hi Everyone,
I am using HTC One (M7) unrooted that was recently upgraded to Android Lollipop 5.0.2 and I started noticing a black button with three white dots appearing on my screen when I enter certain apps. Tapping it would just toggle the settings menu in the app. Double tapping it wouldn't do anything. Press hold would enable me to move the button to anywhere I like on the screen.
I have no use for it since I have it set up from my Settings that I would open the settings menu by long pressing my Home button. Does anyone also know of this, and if so, how do I remove it? I attached a screen shot for your reference (look at top right corner). Thanks in advance!
I'm interested in finding a solution to this too. No luck in the default.xml, at least for search terms "overflow" and "menu". MaximusHD 52.0, 5.0.2
Confirming this is really annoying & I'd like to know if there is a way to get rid of it?
Hi, I've got the same with galaxy s6 edge and android 5.0.2
It seems that only apps without direct implementation of the android three dots menu have this problem.
Could somebody help please ?
floating button
Same here. Irritating whilst using Mobo Player
The only way you are gonna get rid of it is to hide it in the app itself. With less and less phone with buttons the more you will see this.
Solution
I found myself frustrated at this myself today.
The solution is to go to Settings > Display > Buttons > Home and change "press and hold" from Google Now to Menu.
That removes the button from all apps, and you can just hold the home button to access the menu for those apps that need it.
OK so, I downloaded a theme on sungstratum that gave me a Pixel 2 navigation bar, the problem is when I press a key on the navbar it registers twice. (I.e When I press the back button ONCE it backs out of a page TWICE.) How can I fix this?
I had the same problem, but was not theme or sangstrum related, in fact my oroblem started exactly like yours, and worsened to the point of nav icons disappearing and later, to not function at all, It made me crazy for 2 days, I factory reset and manually installed my apps, then I found the culprit, it was "all in one gestures" it has an option to put the gestures in front or back the keyboard, I used in the back, but suddenly the problem arose, I changed to in front of the keyboard, and all returned to normal, this may no be your case, but definetely putting layers or themes cause several troubles as I have seen around here even for software updating! So, if you have some apps that "draws on top of other apps" try checking that way, luck
