First of all, from HTC Kaiser to Samsung Vibrant to HTC HD 7 & I'm never going to look back!
OK now:
1. Go to an Email tile
2. Tap on the far left (next to the bolded name of the sender)
3. Voila - you have a slick option to select mail
Haven't seen this mentioned anywhere. Thought it might be useful
Yeah found it the other day by mistake but I didn't think it was any earth mover
Yeah, my phone actually pointed the feature out the other day - I was deleting several emails one at a time, and a little info bar appeared at the top to say you can click on the left to quick select.
Not an earth mover at all, but neat that it recognised what I was doing and was able to tell me how I could do it quicker!

its great, but were is the "select all" feature, instead of you having to select each one.
I avg over 80 emails a day... how fun is my day selecting each one to delete

That makes no sense, what is the point of keeping an email once you have read it? I check most of my emails on my desk top, the phone I use to track what is happening via emails for 4 different accounts when out with clients.
I dont need 100 emails sitting on my phone.
I am simply stating that every phone I have every used even old ones allowed you to do a select all feature for old sms phones.
HD2 has it, why was it not placed into WM7, just a small feature which is important but also missing as many important ones are.
but face book is there, wheeepy another face book driven phone, like we dont have enough of those.
Here's another one that you may (or may not) be aware of.
when typing press and hold on the actual text you have been typing. A cursor will appear allowing you to re-position anywhere within the text.
very handy for going back to make changes (like inserting a space between words, inserting words etc.

I am also using 4 email accounts, two Exchange servers and two Hotmail accounts. I have no problem to have two weeks synchronized on all of the accounts. If you dont want it, than set it to last 3 days and you dont have to worry about...

Me too, ditto. And the email delete feature is good too.
I made a script to alert me when the Nexus 5 was available, and I figured I'd share the love.
This python script watches 7 different pages, and posts notifications when it detects a change (with the text 'nexus 5'). It posts a message using a twitter account (@n5stock). The cool part about this is you can easily get push notifications in the twitter account, or sms notifications. Based on my tests, notifications were received within ~2 seconds of me sending them.
Basically, there are two ways to get notifications:
Twitter Push Notifications:
Open @n5stock using the twitter app
Follow @n5stock, select 'face' icon on left, and select 'Turn on notifications'
SMS Notifications (works with Google Voice):
Text 40404
Login, or reply with a new username (that doesn't exist)
Text 'ON n5stock'
Here are the pages it's watching:
https://play.google.com/store/devices/details?id=nexus_5_black_16gb
https://play.google.com/store/devices/details?id=nexus_5_black_32gb
https://play.google.com/store/devices/details?id=nexus_5_white_16gb

[Let me know if you have any to add]
Hopefully this helps some people out. I was definitely wasting waayy too much time refreshing / watching news sites for the release.

I signed up earlier today, when I saw it mentioned on GottaBeMobile.
Very ingenious!. Thanks!
.
Last year for the Nexus 4, on release day the sales were supposed to start at 11am ET/8am PT, but REALLY went live about 15 minutes early... When people logged on at 11am ET, Nexus 4 stock was GONE.
For this, you will get a text alert when the Nexus 5 shows up in Google Play. Great idea! :good:

That's good. But GottaBeMobile is a terrible site, they just rehash stories and post any old "rumor" so that they appear regularly in search results, garbage site!

Yup, that was pretty much my thought process. I'm guessing they'll be moving very quickly - selling out will help with publicity, so I'm betting Google will be aiming to do exactly that. I anticipate a similar stock situation to what they had last year.
If people see other urls to watch, let me know. I plan to keep this up after the first batch is sold, and send out alerts when it goes back instock (so don't despair if you miss the first batch).

Not disagreeing with you about the site in general. But this time, the article was helpful. I even re-posted it in another forum. So, funny seeing the guy who made the in-stock script here.
Can't wait for this phone!
I really hope this won't be necessary until after the announcement. It would be pretty bad for them to announce and release the phone at the same time.
Thanks much for the script, should be very helpful!

1. Making sure I hear all my text messages with my custom ring tone. (& and sometimes answering with a custom pre-made template)
2. making sure I hear it ring on an incoming call (with another custom ring tone.)
3, Answering as a speakerphone when a call comes in while I'm driving.
These are the thing I bought it for & it works super. All the other things like weather etc, are just icing on the cake.
Yes, I would buy it again (I bought it on the day it came out) and have recommended it to friends
Does it get annoying having to flick your wrist everytime to check your watch? Or did the recent updates improve everything?

I only got my gear 2 days ago, but I don't understand the wrist flicking thing. My watch turns on when I bring it up into a position to look at it. No flicking required. I think it is great. I can't wait for the update for the notifications. Still deciding if the custom ROM is the way to go. I haven't seen yet if the NULL ROM affects battery life.
To answer op:
1)Notifications
2)time and weather
3)media control
4) shopping checklist. Currently via evernote but I am hoping for google keep app in the future.
5) I would like a qr code / barcode scanner.
1. Picking up chicks (all though not as successful as using glass haha)
2. Notifications
3. Quick access apps

What can you do with null rom? I read the page but since I don't have a gear yet am not sure what everything does.
The whole notification for Gmail, SMS, calendar fb and Whatsapp are now displayed thanks to the update right?
Is it possible to sideload Google keep?

Yes, you can sideload anything - even with stock rom. Latest firmware+gear manager means you get notifications from all apps on phone
By using null, you get more of a stock android experience instead of a small/limited menu system from stock touchwiz launcher
Null_ offers stock plus everything in the features list. And if you don't like it, just flash back to stock - simple
Let's just say that I've been testing out a Nexus 5 and because of null, will be returning back to my s4 and the compatibility with gear
1) Time
2) Weather
3) Notifications (I almost never hear or feel my phone notifications.)
4) Phone Calls (Making calls when my hands are doing other things, driving, eating, typing, gaming, etc.)
5) Showing off
It does so much more than my old watch!
And yes, Null_ will make it much more useful, but I did EVERYTHING (root and flash ROM) last night before bed so IDK. Battery seems to be unchanged.

If you are not on a custom ROM I believe that's what it does. I can't remember. With Null_ you can read the message and it gives you the option to open on the phone. I believe it gives you the option either way. I am trying to remember because I was on US stock version (Not sure about the number) then flashed UK version (V700XXUAMK7) but was on it for like 5 minutes before flashing Null_.

Oh true. I just watched a video and yea it's the same. Since I went from US version to UK version then Null_. I wasn't on the UK version long enough to notice the notifications. That's why I thought Null_ made this possible. This isn't the case for those not on the updated UK version. Before flashing the UK version my Gear would only show who it came from and the option to view on device.

I have a LG G watch R since yesterday. I have been trying out all te functions and different apps but I can't seem to get it to make an appointment in my google agenda. I have tried saying different things using google Now but the only thing i get it to do is to view my agenda for today. Is there a way to make entry's in my agenda using the smartwatch?
I'm still trying to find out how everything works.
Use an app like "CalenGoo" and you can add calendar event and also Task.
Thank you for your reply. So at the moment the watch can't do this by itself? It needs an app for that? That sounds strange to my but i guess i will look into that suggested app. Thanks.

Try saying "Agenda for March" - it showed up next weeks appointments (test entries) for me - otherwise if you just say "Agenda" you get today only. If you say "Agenda for month" you get full size calendar page on the screen which you cant see - and a warning that it takes a long time to display.

Yes you can display your event but not add event without specific app
Hey there!
I got my Note 5 a few days after it was launched in my country (about 3 weeks back) it is a great device, battery, performance etc.
However, I realized something was amiss with its smart select feature.
I cannot extract text from the image i selected. I could do this when I was on my note 4 and it was really helpful. If i need to extract address I just smart select the address and there will be a tine T on the selected item and I can copy the text. Now all it does is save it in the gallery.
Did i miss something or did samsung remove this feature?
Next up is, my twitter notification. I am a heavy twitter and I would usually have a special notification tone for this. However, I seemed to fail to set it on a specific tone. It will always go back to the default tone. i've tried several times but failed.
Can anyone help me out?
Thanks a bunch everyone!

Well about the twitter notifications, I've had that same issue on my last 4 phones lol. Try to change the notification and it always reverts back to the stock. So it's not a Note 5 issue, it's a twitter issue.

Samsung did remove the text extraction from smart selection, along with the ability to do multiple selections and save as a single scrap book entry, although you could group them later, but what a hassle!
Thanks! For the notification, I can change it to my custom notification on my note 4. therefore i thought it was a note 5 issue. *cries*

Yeah after searching high and low for some sort of explanation, it is true that samsung took it out. WHY OH WHYYYY... instead now i have to use optical reader to do what i did with text extraction... what a hassle indeed.
