[Q] What can cause a bootloop - Sony Xperia T, TL, TX, V

I know that not wiping Data/cache can make a phone not bootable, but what else does? Any files in the system partition?

Too many things, unfortunately..
Probably any system file exept wallpapers and sounds might cause a bootloop..
There are certain apps and libs that can be removed without risk but you have to know what you're doing

[Q] Safe to format internal SD?

Hey guys, after having my phone for coming up on 2 years, my Internal SD has been filled with tons of garbage apps that I've tried, uninstalled, and a bunch of other stuff. I was wondering - what is the best procedure for formatting this to clean it up a little? If I copy my Titanium Backup folder to my PC (some savegames i want on there ) am I pretty much safe to just format it? Is there anything I should know?
Can anybody offer me any information on this

I also need to knw, if its safe to format Internal SD.
Since im on ICS, i have noticed many of my Games (Gameloft) are not working properly and continuously crashing, previously i was on GB, I think its because of the data stored(game data) or any thing else in there. Agn, is it safe to format Internal SD, that is approx 6gb. ?
If Yes, then what items are to be made backup?
You can format your internal sd card no problem. Personally I like to copy everything off the internal sd card onto my pc first. Once this data is safe I delete it off the phone. Restart in recovery, format the internal sd card & do a factory reset, clear cache and dalvick cache.
Now phone is like new...

Stop spouting nonsense. The internal SD is separate from system.
Knowledge is Power. Guard it well.

Although I'm not certain, I would think that I might lose some app data, but all the important system files are in /system

Even formatting on a computer should not affect System partition. Not unless if you are using ADB commands to specifically format the internal SD. That's a LOT of extra effort.

I haven't tried this, but I'm assuming Snapper's correct on this subject. The PC will only mount the /sdcard partition, which you should be able to wipe without losing any of your /system data.

[Q] Link2SD not working at all after CM11 upgrade.

Hello peeps!
This is my first post! But it aint any tutorial, rather just a problem I am facing. Since, ya'll know, galaxy pop has a very little internal memory, hence, too many apps cannot be installed. However, this problem was overcome by apps such as the one mentioned in the question. But now the problem I face is, after I upgraded to CM11 (jenkins) this method no longer works. From un-installing system apps to moving them. Either there is so "no media available error" or "no sufficient permissions error" (even though SU allows L2SD) :crying:
So, is there something I am missing out? Is there something I need to do? I am ready to wipe data any number of times, but just don't want to downgrade.
PS. I tried the ADB method. It was decent, but problem? System apps can't be moved, or atleast the option wasn't enabled in my phone.
PPS. I really love this ROM, so please, any suggestions except downgrading would be appreciated. :fingers-crossed:
You should uninstall link2sd and flash cronmod INT2EXT. It's a script that mounts your sd-ext partition as data, so that you get more storage.
For this need a class 10 sd card or faster and you have to create an sd-ext partition on it. There are many tutorials on how to do that, just Google it.

Well, thank you for that suggestion. Well, since i already created a mount script with link2SD, is it alright if i just unsinstall it?

Be sure to check if it removes the script or not. In theory it does, but checking doesn't hurt.

I will be sure to do that!
No Success.
hey, I just wanted to inform that I tried to use Cronmod's INT2EXT, but it didn't do the trick for me. :crying: I was wondering, every time I use ES file explorer, I see a "sd-ext" folder. Will moving apps there do the trick?
I know this may be a stupid question, but I am just curious.
nice post :good:
link to CM11
heyy!!
can you give me the link of CM11 tht you have? and can you save accesspoint in that rom?
thank you!

I use older version of Link2SD (Link2SD 3.1.5) and never update the L2SD
I can still use it until now...
It worked?

I used the SDFix app, then used the L2SD and it worked, hell even other scripts which refused to work before, now works.
but, sometimes apps stops working, random reboots, random cache clearances blah blah! :v :crying:
I will try what you just suggested!

Can't clear stock internet cache

My internet cache won't clear out, its showing 1.36 TERABYTES! It seems to be causing problems with flashing things on Safestrap recovery because I'm getting an E: I/O error. Pressing on the clear cache tab in the application manager does nothing. Is there anything else I can do to clear that cache? Thanks in advance for any help.

Try clearing the cache in Titanium Backup
If that doesn't do it I think there is a bigger problem at hand.

Well, clearing the cache in Titanium didn't work but it lead me in the right direction. I backed up the apk, deleted it through Titanium then re-installed and set permissions.

Quick question. Where was this 1.3 terabyte cache being stored at on your 32 gigabyte phone?

Unfortunately after trying the fix I mentioned the problem is still there, and that 1.36 TB is supposedly on the internal storage. I'm waiting for the S5 ported ROM to get updated before I do a full wipe and start over.
Yeah, a full wipe is the only next choice. Good luck.

There is a full set of Odin files available in the general section . Flash those. Clears out everything. And you can re- root afterwards. It totally cleared up a bunch of memory and battery drain issues I had, with a full wipe.

Sorry man that's no good...maybe if you don't want to do a full wipe yet try doing the same uninstall/reinstall process then convert and freeze it?

[Q] Question about also wiping internal before flashing a rom

Hello,
I did a bit of searching and could not find an answer if it is safe to also include wiping internal when doing the advanced wipe before I flash a ROM (in my case a TW Rom to the same but updated version of a TW Rom). Since ROMs i've had interest in instructs only to wipe Data Cache Dalvik System x 3. Just wanted to make sure and perhaps find an answer as to why you would not want to do this. I apologize if there is a thread or answer for this already. Thank your time and expertise.

Wipes the entire internal memory. Anything stored there, photos, video, music, whatever gets deleted.

Thanks for the quick reply. So no error will come about regarding fingerprint etc once rom is installed?

That stuff is stored under the phone data I would assume. This is the internal "SD card" you can store personal stuff and 3rd party apps on.
Should be no harm in wiping it other than it is 100% not needed and just erases your non phone data for no reason.

Caution. Many people are reporting problems writing downloaded files after wiping internal. That requires the extra step of fixing permissions in TWRP. Wiping internal memory is typically unneeded.

Bootloop after remove a APK

Hi guys, im having a problem.
When I remove launcher3(valvet.apk) i get a bootloop. Everytime i did, i get a bootloop. Do anyone know why?
I remove it with Link2SD, using Zephyr OS .
I want to remove it because I dont know what is, i thought is the google launcher, but that is "google now launcher". Anyway is using RAM, and internal space, and I dont use it.
I think valvet.apk is for the google search bar, I don't really know but why I get a bootloop everytime?
Now I wipe and flash again the ROM and Gapps, and remove Launcher3(laucher3.apk) and SlimLauncher (both come with Zephyr OS), and works fine, but I wanna remove valvet.apk without getting a bootloop.
Thanks for the answers!
Just disable it with Titanium Backup, it's on the system partition so it's not using your internal storage.

I know isn't using internal storage, but i don't know why is in background sometimes and i have to kill it.
I don't have Titanium, if i freeze it with Link2SD is the same thing ? Im afraid to remove it again, because i dont want to flash the ROM again

That'll work too, just don't delete it, I don't recommend ever removing system apps, just freeze them and forget about them.

No, freezing I got a boot loop too. Lucky to me I did a nandroid backup before freeze the apk
Must be a crucial app to the system, I don't know but i guess i have to let it there.
