Hi there,
Completely new to this... sorry.
I'm trying to get the basebands from the ZL (C6506 .ftf) to run on my ZR (C5503).
I've turned on USB debugging and I'm using flashtool on a mac air.
When I've chosen the .ftf file from flashtool and exclude all but the baseband and try to flash, I'm pressing vol down and then plugging in usb (powered off).
Nothing happens, and flashtool keeps stays on the screen showing to use the back button and then plug in my usb.
Any help would be much appreciated! I'm about ready to put a beer in the mail for the right answer. Thanks!
Sound like you haven't installed the (correct) adb and flash driver!
But i don't have any experiences with a Mac...

could I have lost this after a failed attempt at getting into flashmode? And how to get it back? PCC or flashtool doesn't see the phone. USB charge works in MSC mode but still PCC and flashtool cannot see the phone. I've hit the little red button but no change. So I can't see away of flashing or updating via PCC until this is resolved.

Try going into flashmode this way.
Hold volume down button, attach usb cable, keep volume down button pressed and then press and hold the power button until something happens (LED blink or vibrate) then let go of all buttons.
I had to do that on my Xperia T because getting into flashmode the normal way didn't work

Thanks for the suggestion but it didn't appear to make any difference but something I realised is that I might have been holding the volume - fir too long. Also the green LED indicating flashmode doesn't stay on just flashes briefly. Still I was able to get PCC to see the flashmode and 'repair' it but it has made no difference. In USB mode MTP the battery is not charging hen connected to a PC and is when connected in MSC mode. I realise it is not hugely important but it would be nice to have it working the way it as two days ago PCC doesn't recognise the phone nor Media Go; maybe it is pc driver issue though I have uninstalled and reinstalled the pcc software.
Install flashtool and run the drivers.exe from the driver folder in the instalation folder of flashtool. Choose flashmode and fastboot drivers

Thanks, tried this and it didn't make any difference. I have same software installed at work and all works no problem so the setup on my home laptop is obviously not quite right so will do a complete wipe as best I can of software and try again.
Hey guys,
After messing around with the early lollipop bulids I decided to go back to Sony Stock Firmware.
But if I connect the device in flashmode to the computer with flashtool running (no ftf prepared) it just reboots after some seconds.
Is that because no ftf is going to be flashed or is something wrong with my phone or the drivers installed on my PC?
Im just to afraid to try it because I know how a phone looks when it disconnects from the PC while flashing something like bootloader. :crying:
thanks in advance

could you explain little bit more what happen etc. The more info you give, easier for us to answer.
Try reinstall/update drivers and Flashtool.
Kill adb.exe processes tab on task manager too.
Best idea is to load the ftf in flashtool and wait until it says plug phone in
yes.if you dont have anything to flash on phone the phone will reboot after u connect it to usb cause it thinks all flashing progress is done
prepare the ftf and when the notification is showing up in flashtool then connect your z1.
Hello updated now the phone has a red flashing light and when i click the volume up and power button the phone vibrates for 3 time and then nothing happens and i tried charging it and it just keeps rebooting and ending up not charging at all. How do i fix this?

Battery was fully charged and I've tried that but phone does not response at all to flashtool. When plug in to PC, in device manager under USB controllers, it sees it as SOMC Flash Drive. I think the phone boot is dead.

Thanks for your help...The phone was flashed successfully with flash tool with flash file E6553_28.0.A.4.8. After flash done, phone was dead, cannot power on anymore. Now when I tried to flash it again, volume down, insert USB the flashtool show as: Device detected with USB debugging off. It doesn't go to flash mode anymore. I took the back cover off, remove battery connector flex cable and connect it back and try flashing many times but flashtool will not detect phone in flash mode..PC can detect phone because it makes connecting sound on PC but detects as what mode I don't know. In device manager, it doesn't show any device in com port but it shows SOMC Flash Device in USB controllers. I tried to press volume up + power but nothing happened. Once again thanks for your help.

As I understood, you tried to downgrade. Am I right? I heard that sometimes downgrading causes hard brick. I don't know how to fix it but only option is bringing service.

Switch off your Xperia SP. Press and hold the Volume Up button. Connect to your PC using a USB cable while holding down the Volume Up button on your Xperia SP. Before plugging in the USB cable on your Xperia SP make sure that the other end of USB cable is already connected to the PC. Your Xperia SP should be in Flash Mode now and the device’s LED light should turn into Blue.
P.S. You need to make sure you have the Fastboot drivers for Xperia SP. On Windows 8/10 you need to disable the security check to install the drivers.
