So last night I flashed CM10.2 just to try it out... After I was done testing, I restored the official JB system back on my S Advance.
After it booted, I got to the "Welcome to Galaxy" screen without a reason... I thought "Well, ok, let's set it up again", but when I got to put my Wifi password, the keyboard didn't show.. So I decided to skip that. While I was going through the passages I got messages that GApps stopped working, and when I got to choose the time, I tapped next and I got the message secsetupwizard has stopped working, after that I got to the welcome screen once more. What the hell happened to my phone? I made a backup and it takes me to that stupid welcome screen which I don't need!

Try wiping cache, data and dalvic cache.... And then try again
I've tried that as well, but sadly it doesn't work

Factory reset, wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache.

How did you go back to stock JB?
Luckily I managed to turn everything back to normal by flashing stock fw through Odin.. Thanks guys for the help, this was a real pain

Black screen of death. It's what I call it because that's all I get.
Here is a summary of what happened.
1) My Samsung Galaxy S started to get slower and slower. I decided to turn it off and back on (using
the power down button) to see if it would get any faster.
2) I would then only get the first start screen, then the graphic S screen after which it would go
blank (black screen of death). After about 2 min, if I pressed any keys, the two buttons on the bottom
would light up and stay on. If I pressed any one of them, it would go off and back on.
3) I could hold the power button and it would reboot.
So, that's were it was, here is what I have tried so far.
a) Check to see if I could get into download mode. Yep, that works.
b) Check to see if I could get into recovery mode. Yep, that works.
c) Hmmm, oh well, lets do a system wipe. Yep, can do that but it still would not boot up. I just get
to the graphic S screen and then the black screen of death.
d) Lets take the battery out. (over night) Nope, still black screen of death.
Based on the above, a flash should work right. Sorry, but I had a lag fix installed. Well no matter
what, I could not get the phone to boot so I guess I better try flashing anyway.
I've tried several images. Most of them get the error "your storage not prepared yet, please use UI me nu for format and reboot actions" OK, this is because of the lag fix. I then installed stzupy's image and that fixed the "your storage not prepared yet bla, bla bla. But still black screen of death.
I've tried flashing over and over, with pid 512, 513, 803. Nothing. I still come up the black screen of death.
So, can someone guide me in the right direction. I've done searches on this but everyone else seems to have had a different problem. Mostly doing a Factory Reset worked for them. I've done that over and over. After removing the battery, after flashing, before flashing. Nothing seems to get me past the black screen of death.
Thanks in advance for all and any help,
Jeff
p.s. Please don't reply with a message saying something like flash X's kernel. I need descriptive instructions such as flash with "this kernel" into CSC (or pda or modem) using XXX pid while checking repartion (or not). In other words, don't assume I know what I am doing. I don't.
there is now way you can save your apps installed but your sd card files will be there.

Really don't care about my apps. (I have everything backed up onto my computer via Titanium Backup) But if you check my message above, I have reflashed until the cows come home. I still get the black screen of death.

Yes sir I believe you are toast indeed! Your internal SD card is probably toast. I believe you're a fine Canadian of course assuming you've got the Bell i9000m? A lot of us have had this and there's a poll on it actually. Mine just toasted out about 2 weeks ago, thankfully i've an awesome friend in Canada on the forum that has helped me out!
No matter what you flash or try to do, it will not mount the sdcard in there or let you format it manually. You'll have to send it back to BELL or Samsung.

Had the same problem today. Wanted to change from JPA to JPO so thought it best to do a factory reset, but when phone booted up again, it started, then the screen went black with the occasional vibration. Tried all the usual things, removing battery & waiting, wiping cache etc., but no luck. Then put it in download mode & installed JPA again, but same problem on bootup. Thought I had finally managed to brick my phone (horrible feeling). So I solved it this way :-
Installed JM8 using .512 pit with repartition ticked, hooray my phone booted up again. The long delay after the S logo & finally completing boot was nail biting to say the lease. Now everything is working great & I am in the process of installing JPO.
Hi,
I've just followed steps to install "CyanogenMod 10" on my P7310 tablet and was wondering how long you usually have to wait on the first boot?
I've been 25 minutes so far, just wondering if there's an issue or not?
Thanks for any advice.
First boot takes a while due to Android building the cache, but not 25 mins. Sound like your flash went awry. I had an issue with CM10 not getting passed the animation when I installed it the other day. A factory reset + cache + dalvik and reflash fixed my problem. It should take less than 5 minutes if it's working properly.

Maybe you forgot to do factory reset and format /system if came from other rom?
I'm having this problem as well. Did you ever find a solution?
Edit: Never mind... I didn't format /system. Once I did everything worked fine.
I had this problem as well, just held the power button and after a restart all worked well.
Same here, didnt start till I did a hard reset.
Can't get CM working on my TF101. CM9 can't turn on both wi-fi and bluetooth, CM10 is never leave the boot animation screen. Each topic I can fing with google says that I need to do Factory reset, but I DO it, did it many times and nothing helps. Maybe there's something debug build where I can see what's going wrong?
Fixed my problem. The problem was is in wipe actually, CWM Touch didn't wipe the data, formatting /data/ was too fast and it couldn't umount it. So I used CWM to wipe and CWM Touch to flash because CWM couldn't mount /sdcard/.
Where should I send bugreports?
CyanogenMod is...stuck?
First of all, that NOOB video! Wow! I think I'm in the right thread for help, and I'll try to be brief.
My husband recently Rooted his Galaxy Note II (US Cellular). Tonight he tried to put the CyanogenMod onto it...it has been loading now for a couple of hours, which I have read is a bad thing. It just stays on the screen, and the blue circle spins around. The power button won't do anything, nor will pulling the battery or sim card, as soon as you put them back in, the circle starts again.
Can someone please help a MAJOR NEWBIE to all things dealing with rooted phones to fix this disaster? The phone was too expensive to be a paperweight!
Thank you so much in advance!

I got a Sprint HTC One last week, rooted it, s-offed it and flashed several ROMs on it.
My problem is that in every ROM I've tested, the phone reboots after a couple of minutes.
Here are the ROMs I've tried so far:
- CLEAN ROM SPR 2.5
- CM-10.1-20130714-NIGHTLY-m7spr
- MIUI_m7wls_signed_07042013
- Slim-m7spr-4.2.2.build.7-OFFICIAL
- Sprint_HTC_One_1.29.651.10_Stock_Deodexed
- Sprint_HTC_One_1.29.651.10_Stock_Odexed_05.17.13
- Stock_w_Goodies_One_1.06
- viperROM_One_v1.1.0
I'm using TWRP 2.5, advanced wiping: dalvik, cache, data, system before flashing the ROM.
Does anyone have sugestions?

I guess that's a slightly different problem then mine.
My phone is S-OFF already and I've wiped and flashed almost every single ROM out there and the phone reboots (doesn't shutdown) every 2 minutes...
After I read some other similar issues, I'm guessing I'll have to use a RUU tool to fix the problem. The other problem is that I only have Mac and Linux...
I've read a post advising to copy the ROM file to the root of the phone's internal storage in order to do a proper flash.
Since I was always flashing the roms directly from an external usb thumb drive, I thougt it was a good idea.
I copied Android Revolution 2.5 to the phone's memory, wiped everything and flashed it. Installation whas OK so I rebooted. When selecting the wi-fi network on the initial setup I received a message saying "avoiding poor signal network" even thoug my router was about 10ft from me. After finishing the initial setup I rebooted the phone and then it got stuck hard.
Even when pressing the power button for over 20 second it didn't shut down. Now I'm waiting for the battery to die so I can see what happens on the next boot.
Again, if someone can help me on this situation, I'll appreciate it...

press the buttons while holding phone under a bright light and it will reboot, if that rom was a 4.2.2 rom from the intl. forum you're going to have to ruu it.

I've only used Sprint ROMs but still got those freaking reboots. Only by using RUU (provided by viperboy) I managed to solve the reboot issue.
Now I'm waiting for a software SIM Unlock solution, since I'm in Brazil an cannot unlock it OTA.
I'll post an update here as soon as I have a solution...

Interesting, this happened to me as well yesterday along with some incredible lag with keyboard and scrolling pages. Like the phone is doing something, ive Odin flashed stock fw 4 times with full wipes. seems something just suddenly defected my phone..
EDIT: BTW this happened after trying to flash a custom rom to my phone, phone was running great when i got it.
i got it working i had to flash back to stock via odin that's the only way it works for me as soon as i flash a custom rom it will stop working if you figure out how to get it working whit a custom rom let me now pls

Having the same issue with Hyperdrive. Restore my stock rooted backup and it works fine. Really looking forward to an answer on this one.
Must setup first time before rooting and flashing roms. This has been discussed in other threads.

I tried using odin, I was on NIH firmware with no luck... and then flashed odin with NJ7 with no luck from that, I must of flashed the firmwares over 8 times,
I went and replaced my white note 4 at a corporate near me, with a black note 4.. no one had them in stock, dialing 611 was no help, they said since u bought it at a store, I had to go there, I found a corp store that had 2 left, I rushed over cause they don't hold it for anyone. employee wanted to charge a $50 restocking fee, I told them the phone is defective, and the manager override the sale..
I am having the same problem of the fingerprint scanner not working after flashing a custom ROM. I followed everything to a T & it didn't install (& yes, it is for my N4). I went back to stock using Odin, several times & have not resolved it yet. I do not want to take it back but I do like having the fingerprint scanner. Luckily, I have another N4 cause I bought 2 when they came out cause I planned on trying to turn a profit on 1 of them, but I'll be damned if everybody didn't make it easy as hell for anyone to get one. I guess I can use the 1 that doesn't work right for flashing & playing around on & then when I find "THE" ROM that I'm happiest with, I can flash it on the good 1. IDK. This is BS though. Somebody has to know how to get it back working right. I know that people that helped create this phablet, are members of this site, so I hope that they or someone else that has fixed this problem replies to our question. I flashed this ROM... http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-sprint/development/rom-alpha-semper-fi-t2926682 & the fingerprint scanner still worked, but after flashing this ROM... http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/snapdragon-dev/25-october-2014-n4-echoe-rom-1-t2917941 it no longer worked & hasn't since. sorry dude, I don't know what it was, but when it happened to me, I was on NIH, and had the fingerprint saved, i tried everything, and when i deleted the saved fingerprint, it didn't want to work, nothing worked, i tried for 2 days searching and trying out my own stock odex roms and the firmware, it did not work.. sucks i know...
i had to return it to tmobile corporate store, if u have insurance on it, just play stupid and return it, if u have someone you know on tmobile, just let them put it on their account with put the $8 insurance, have them wait 1 week, call 611 and just say the fingerprint sensor went bad, and just pay $5 and have a replacement sent out,
lucky for me it happened less than a week for me, and went to a tmobile corporate store and they gave me a new phone in a box, but a replacement is still good it is not a refurbished phone...
I got it figured out & will post a file once it finally uploads, but in the mean time. If you have registered at SamMobile.com go there, click on the firmware tab, scroll halfway down to where it says FIRMWARE on the left side of the column & search device here on the right side. Type in your model number & it will show up right below the search area. Click & download the newest file. Here is the link for the Firmware site with search field filled in with N910 http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/ While that is downloading, do a factory reset on your phone, DO NOT backup your info, you will need to restart it, but it's worth it. Once the reset is done, your phone will reboot, don't worry about going into setup, just turn the phone off & go into download mode (while phone is completely off, hold, in this order, VOLUME DOWN, HOME & POWER, press VOLUME UP when prompted. Connect your phone to computer. After the file downloads, open Odin (I'm assuming you already have Odin installed on your computer, if not you can find the link here http://odindownload.com/ I didn't have luck with Odin 3.09, but the 3.07 version works great. Your Firmware file should be done downloading by now, if it is, put it in your Note 4 folder (or whatever folder you have designated for your N910-) & extract it to there. Open Odin & click on the PDA button (& DO NOT CLICK ANYTHING ELSE), click on the file you just extracted & then click Start. Once that loads, your phone will reboot & be just like it was from the factory. Hope this helps everybody. Once the file uploads to my Dropbox, I'll post it on here to save you some time.
Here's the link for N910P https://www.dropbox.com/s/f5f63rb4d8ybsm3/N910PVPU1ANK2_N910PSPT1ANK2_XAS.zip?dl=0

Hello. I REALY NEED HELP!! A couple of months ago when oreo got leaked for note 8 I installed it. I installed substratum themes before I did the update when I was still in 7.1.1 . When I installed the leaked oreo I had a problem that it wouldn't let me go past the lock screen unless I quick launched the camera and it said "system ui has stopped" and the phone kept vibrating. I couldn't turn off the phone.. only if I got lucky and then it would take me to a screen that said upload mode. no hard reset combo worked and only download mode combo worked. from there I would put cancel and it restarted the phone. somehow I got the phone to power off and immediately tried the hard reset combo and it worked. I factory reset it and everything went to normal. After that I never had the same issue again. But couple days ago I tried to install substratum to see if it would now work. WELL THAT WAS A HUGE MISTAKE. it was doing the same thing so I managed to factory reset it again. after that I didn't install substratum and everything would work fine until I woke up. when I woke up it kept doing the same thing so I wipped the cache and factory reset it again. Everything worked fine again and then the next morning IT DID THE SAME THING. I've factory reset it like 5 times now and don't have substratum installed at all and that doesn't work. it still says that "system ui has stoped" when I wake up in the mornings. I've been researching A LOT and I've tried to do everything the forums say but nothing works. HOW CAN I GET RID OF THIS SOFTWARE PROBLEM COPMLETLY?. I even took it to a Samsung care center for a day and they told me that they couldn't fix it and I called Samsung and they said to ship it in to them so they could fix it. Have you guys been through this?

Have you guys been through this?

I am by no means on the level of the wonderful gentlemen that so often come to our rescue, but have you tried flashing the device's original firmware?

What varient are you?
I have the exact same issue, how is this not talked about anywhere? The leaked beta was so wide spread, I'm assuming you've tried taking it to ubreakifixit? I think that's what it's called.

I think flashing the original firmware is your best option considering you are still on the beta.
Just post the variant you have and the country you're in and I can give you instructions on how to get the right firmware
I would advise that you take your device to a Samsung Service Center and let them take a look at it. As they will be able to help you resolve your issue

I've factory reset it like 5 times now and don't have substratum installed at all and that doesn't work. it still says that "system ui has stoped" when I wake up in the mornings.
