nice design indeed... now since all stuff is made in china, time to check ebay and DX to find the same thing without the label...
translation = cheaper
If in stock tomorrow I will be ordering, nice find!
Have you used this site before? If so opinoins on them? (Directed at anyone who has used the site).
Bit off topic but is a cheaper ebay battery just as good as a Original?
Looks good but won't work with cases

Glad I went for a pouch case, Looks really good i loved using my dock for my iPhone and iPod Touch
I wonder whether it would be stable enough to stick to a car dash and use it as an in-car dock..
i wouldn`t buy it.. every time i see things like this, i think it going to scratch the back of the handset..

Twice as expensive though.
What is it that makes the phone decide it's 'docked' ??
When I plug my phone in to a micro-usb charger (or a micro-usb cable hooked up to a PC), then go to
Clock -> Dock Settings -> Audio
I still see the message 'Phone not docked', even though the phone is charging.
Does the phone have to be sync'ing with some software on a PC before it decides it's truly docked? Or does the cradle have some circuitry to deliver a message that tells the phone it is docked? I thought the cradle was simply a charger.
Still out of stock! It says "will be available from 25-th Feb" and now it is already 1st! Quite sad, as there are no other docks around.

Hi,
Where are you ordering the dock from? Is it from oddsandpods.com?
Just googled them and the reviews dont seem very favourable.
Could you please give us some feedback on how their service has been?
Thanks
I've just received information:
"Thank you for your order. Your order has been passed to the warehouse for picking and will be dispatched within 2 days. Should we be unable to send your order on time we will email you to advise of any delay."
When (if) dock arrive, I'll try to post some pictures and write a little bit about service.
Ordered from Odds and Pods on 24th Feb, not received it yet or getting any order updates! really not happy with these guys!
So pretty much I ordered my nexus 7 right when it was announced, and due to a shipping error Google wanted another 8 weeks to get it to me from release so I canceled my order. Being the impatient idiot that I am I went and bought a new one off eBay. I am aware of the screen separation issue and it seems that it is affecting my unit on the left side of the screen. It annoys me a bit but I'll live. But my question is will the screen separation slowly get worse and spread? I haven't found a very clear answer.
I would say yes. Mine was 100% fine when I got it, 11 days ago and now has lift and creaking. Seems not as responsive. Sounds like bad first batch

Hmm I really hope that isn't the case with mine because I don't think I'll be able to get Google to replace it because I bought it from eBay. I haven't noticed much of change with mine from day one, but it'd be nice to hear responses from a few other people so I know how screwed I am hahahaha
And I bet you paid 2x the price with no warranty so it can't be fixed now

All N7s are under warranty. The hardware has a 1yr warranty. Google will fix it.

Thank you. I'm just not sure if its worth replacing at this time because of how back ordered the tablets are. I'm on vacation so I don't have the ability to talk to google right now I just hope the screen doesn't fall apart on me.

I got 2 defective N7's....returned them. My plan is to wait until the 2nd "batch" with no defects. Maybe in few months, I will try again.
You should probably return and do what I (and many others), are doing. Wait.
My thinking was, I paid $275 for this, and its defective. Did I come looking for a perfect tablet? Yes. Not a defective one. Its really your call, but I can tell you the problem won't get any better.
Cheers
Mine was just noticeable on day one, within days the screen was visibly moving just by handling the tablet.
So there is every chance it will get worse so I would say get it replaced.
By the same token, there is every chance a replacement will have the same problem and just as much chance that you will get a perfect unit that develops a fault later on.
Suppose it's down to what yo are prepared to put up with.
Personally, if it turned out every unit in the world had a problem I would live with it and just try to find a fix but knowing that there ARE perfeclt good units out there makes it harder to live with.
I'm planning on getting a warranty from squaretrade for the tablet. Mine is fine but just in case something develops down the line I like to have peace of mind
Eh. $40 for a $200 device seems a little much.
kinda off topic but
my screen started something very strange today..
it has these little lines about 1/2 inch long running up and down it at random locations. It looks kinda like some type of render tearing. When you twist the tablet from side to side they kinda glow then go away. They look off shades of the colors being produced by those pixels.. I just noticed this thread and thought i would post here instead of starting another Thread.. Hope you do not mind.
Its so faint i cant get a picture of it at all. Sorry about this.. My question is has anyone ever seen anything like this.. It reminds me of the grid if code on matrix but its not that bad . its always at the same position until you power off then they are right back but different / random locations. They are not lined up in any way except it runs same directing. vertically

Guy over at google named Shawn emailed me saying that all the defects have been looked into and resolved and said i'm guarenteed when I order one it isnt defective! Good luck guys!
I ordered last night. I hope I'm covered as well. I'm sure Google wouldn't say their products had defects either though.
I hope he's right. While I'm skeptical and don't believe it, I guess they have to eventually straighten it out. Maybe they actually have. We'll see soon enough.

Still will be waiting until they're in a bricks and mortar shop just in case. Took the best part of 2 weeks to sort out a return. Should've been received back at Computer 2000 today so waiting for my refund. God only knows how long it'll take them.
Does this mean the next batch of Nexus 7 should be defect free?

I decided to return my third replacement as well, and wait until B&M stores get them in stock so at least I can do a quicker and less painful return if the same issues crop up. There's the tradeoff of having to deal with ASUS on future warranty issues, but that's a price I'm will to pay. Google has been fine with the replacements so far (not arguing, sending them quickly, etc.), but I'm just tired of ordering a replacement, waiting for it, finding it defective, then boxing it back up and visiting the UPS store again.
I'm hopeful that Google is holding ASUS's feet to the fire and forcing them to fix these issues maybe a little more quickly than ASUS would do on their own. So, I'm looking forward to a new round of inventory hitting B&M stores soon. Since nobody seems to have any inventory, it would appear that whenever they're replenished it will be from the latest product leaving the factories.

Not to doubt, or take a personal shot at you. But I am hesitant to take claims of the Nexus 7 issues being fixed from someone with only 12 posts, without any concrete details on who this Shawn person is, or a posting of the email conversation, seriously.
Who is this "Shawn"? What is this Shawn's position within the Google (or ASUS) business? Where is the email(s) that back up said claim of issues being addressed/fixed?

Sadly I talked to a Google rep on the phone over a week ago that said exactly the same thing and then I still get a Nexus 7 with screen lift, washed out colors, and that Tegra 3 PRISM video playback issue.
Fortunately I was able to fix my own screen lift (stayed fix for 2 days so far) and disabled the smartdimmer. So two of my three issues are self resolved.
But I think Google was being a bit too optimistic, as I don't think the latest batch really fixed much of anything.
Guess ill RMA one more time
No electronic manufacture dealing with this large a scale of production can guarentee their product to be defect free. This is just a case of the sale rep doing their job....
People have been claiming since the "defects" were first found that people answering the phones at Google claim that the "issues' were fixed, despite there being no possible way there could have been any hardware changes/fixes just days after the release.
I received mine today and there are no defects that I can spot, so maybe Shawn got it straight this time.
Just went to replace mine at the store yesterday but I still got the screen lift. Waiting for their next shipment because they're all out. Hopefully Google really fixed the problems for the upcoming batches going out
Hi all,
I imported a Z3 Compact from Handtec and received around 10/3 or so - so about 3 weeks ago. I noticed over the weekend that the magnetic charger wasn't charging my phone, and then after looking at it and playing with it a little bit, the magnetic charger was lifting a the charging section "module" out of the phone... and then it came out entirely. Looks like it's just glued in. I looked around and it looks like this is a semi-rare issue (as I had to look on z2 forums etc) and so probably a manufacturing thing. I contacted Handtec and they accepted a return, but with return type "repair". At this point I'd rather get a refund and order from Sony USA if I still intend to keep this phone. I saw the one page on returns on their website and it's pretty vague and mentions 14 days, but then after some googling I came across their terms and conditions that state that i have 30 days to return for a refund - can anyone with experience here confirm what's real here? I want to push the issue if I'm within my rights.
Thanks.
edit: i think i'm wrong - it looks like it's just 14 days. i guess i'll post a response if anything else changes here.

I'm glad you mentioned trying Sony USA. Based on what I read, I thought they were just telling people who imported to go take a hike, so I wasn't even going to go there, but I just got off the phone with them and they gave me no issue whatsoever giving me an RMA. 14 business day turnaround time.. average time.. but whatever. It's better all around than dealing with shipping back to Handtec and having them ship to Sony.

I never received my RMA info from Sony so I had to go into another chat with a rep. This one was a little more interested in location information. Sounds like everything is ok still but he added the below. Got the RMA email while on the phone with him.
"
Me: Ok. Then everything is set and I just follow those instructions? I think I just received the email
Agent: Yes, that is correct sir, don't you worry, but I need to clarify that since your phone is from UK, the service center does not have a time frame to return it back from repair becuase they could be requesting parts to the original market that the phone was made for
Me: Ok. Would it be much longer than a usual time frame?
Agent: Yes, that is correct, the regular time frame would be 14 business days but in this case it will be longer than that, we cannot specify how long
"
in case anyone cares, sony received phone on 10/30, logged it 10/31 (this is their "received" date), and shipped it back out to me on 11/04. looks pretty good now, so we'll see. there was zero communication throughout this. it would've been nice to know they received the phone, and also that they shipped it back - it sat with UPS for 2 extra days because they couldn't deliver and i didn't see the door tag. so i'd recommend anyone in my situation to follow-up with them frequently.

And the waiting continues. I sent it in with a SIM tray, and it was returned without one, making it unusable as a phone. Had to contact them, setup another RMA, was given another 14 business day turnaround time, all for them to send me the little black piece of plastic they removed when I sent my phone to them. This is all unbelievable. I've owned the phone for all of 4-5 weeks.

still ongoing. they stopped responding to my emails for the last 3 or 4 days. finally i got into a chat with them and really gave them an earful about how this should've been a simple, quick thing. the guy followed up with me after the chat and let me know that he received a tracking number that shows it was delivered already the night before. again, no communication there.
then i get the package, open it up and it's a Micro SIM tray.... not Nano SIM. you think they would know this. now I'm back to waiting for them to respond to me. this is a f*cking sh*tshow at this point.

Nope. Figured I'd check in and update this again. It's been 43 days since I sent my phone in. About 30-35 days of looking at it as a paperweight on my desk. I spent a few weeks emailing and calling a few times a day. I was promised that a manager would call me back multiple times, but no one ever did. One day in the last week of November, I called at 9am, was promised a manager would call me back. No one did. Called at 2pm, the person on the phone set up a time for a manger to call me back - at 3. No one called. Called back at 4pm, and had someone say they were personally taking ownership of my case and convince me that they were going to do everything they could to help me, even gave me their name. Not like it helped when I emailed or called after that. I've been tweeting to Sony Support and Sony Xperia and they took my info but that was it really. Late last week a guy named Josh from Consumer Relations called me and said he was following up on a phone survey I took after one of my calls.. basically where I trashed Sony and their customer service and begged someone to call me. He told me he was having a SIM Tray overnighted to me. And he did... and actually, there were two UPS packages sent again (first time there were two of the same sent as well for some weird reason). Awesome... until I opened the packages and found Micro SIM Trays again. Even explaining this to him and how I needed Nano didn't get me anywhere. I don't have a direct number to this guy, the only number connects to a voicemail system where you leave a message, but anyway I called from the UPS parking lot and left a message and haven't heard from him yet. That was yesterday morning. I've received 4 Micro SIM Trays and have been blown off and ignored for going on 2 months soon. Now I guess I'm doing what I should've done a month ago - buy from China on Ebay.
F*ck you Sony. You f*cking suck, hard. And lost a customer. I hope my post helps someone else not deal with this complete bullsh*t. It gets tossed around a lot, but seriously, this is by far the worst customer service I've ever experienced. By far.

Also preordered from Handtec, and was using a Magector adaptor from Amazon, and noticed that it stopped working some nights and that it was coming out.
I am so happy that Sony USA helped you, I was worried I was out of luck unless I was willing to send it back to the UK.
Gonna call them today and see if I can get mine fixed too!
Do you know if they sent you a different phone back or the same one?
Edit: Didn't see all the problems you were having with the sim car tray though.
Going to keep it when I send it back...

Yeah I had the same problem - the magnector adapter on amazon pulled the charging port out of my phone after 3 weeks of use. Definitely keep your SIM Tray!
My issue is actually resolved now as of today, 45 days into this mess. The Consumer Relations guy Josh eventually called me back around 3:30pm yesterday and said he was out of the office until then, and that he was going to call the service center because it seemed like they had a part number wrong - he was looking it up while on the phone with me and they had the part listed for all of the z models. Who knows if that's real because when he called back with the tracking number for a new overnight delivery, I could see the info had been sent to Fedex at 11:49am. So who knows. Especially because yesterday morning I typed up a huge detailed account of every interaction I've had with Sony since October and posted it on Facebook, G+, their consumer relations site, and the one email I found.
Anyway, I got the correct SIM tray this morning, so I'm just glad this is finally resolved. If it weren't for the SIM tray sh*tshow, I would've said this was great customer service. Phone was back in my hands in like a week and a half. And even after that, they sent me that first Micro SIM tray in like 4 or 5 days. But after that they were completely incompetent. F*ck you Sony.
To answer your questions, yes I got the same phone back. I had a tempered glass screen protector on it and it came back with it... but looks like it got some pretty hard pressure on the one corner because it's noticeably... different. Hard to describe. Like oily, if you press down hard on it you can see the impression.. it has a permanent impression across the triangular corner. Also I took a picture of the About Phone screen/IMEI before sending in to confirm.
In case you or someone else who is reading this could use it, here's all the other means of contacts I found:
[email protected]
-It doesn't look like they respond (or even check? I don't know). A lot of others saying the same thing, even though they're directed to email them at the forum site below.
http://community.sony.com/t5/Customer-Relations/bd-p/customer-relations
-This looks kind of helpful.. they at least have mods who seem to be responding and putting people in touch with people who can help them. Also great for a fun read on just how god awful their customer service really is.
Sony Xperia Customer Relations (866) 737-3366
-This dumps you into a generic voicemail. My guy's name was Josh, so I'd just say this message is for him, etc. This was how I was finally able to get this resolved.

i'd probably go through official channels first. they seemed helpful enough when the problem was easy for them to tackle. not sure the people at the number would appreciate a cold call right away either. but hey, F 'em after my experience. that's why i posted it. most everyone I talked to at normal customer service was always nice. they just either lie, have too much on their plate, or both. josh at that number was nice and seemed to be pretty genuine and interested in getting my issue resolved.
i'm going to keep using the magnetic charger. i dunno, this is part of the reason i got the phone. i would've preferred qi, but this is a runner-up for me. no way am i taking off the port covers every day, they'll never last doing that. at least i don't think, never had a phone like this before.
but something to probably keep in mind is that the phone wasn't designed to be use with these third party chargers (so leave that out if sony asks, hah). the only magnetic charging things sony makes are the docks, i believe. there's no pulling and twisting with the magnets that i know i was doing before this happened. heck, i was using my phone here and there while it was charging.. moving it around like that had to put some pressure on it. i just never thought the thing would pop out like it did. i'm going to at least be more careful to not bother it while it's attached now.
good luck & god speed.

Hello guys, can you please so me a favor and look for dust under the glass of the main camera module?
I was unlucky with the mi 11 u again
First the mi10 and the mi 10 pro afterwards the Poco x3 and now the mi 11 ultra. I'm so freaking unlucky and I hope tradingshenzen will fix this as soon as possible.
Best regards
P.s. everything you can see in the pictures can't be cleaned off - i tried my best and after using a flashlight I was 100% sure it's under the glass.
Damn that's unfortunate, man. I read about some other phone having this issue, I think it was the OnePlus 5 or 6 a few years ago. People had to send back the phone.
My Mi 11 Ultra is arriving tomorrow so I can't check right now, but once it arrives, I will.
I hope you get it sorted. Good luck.
UPDATE: so I did check the cameras for dust and it looks like there's none on my unit. Lucky me.
Looks like defective unit. Exchange it

Yes I was reading about it too. All models I've listed had the same dust spots. The Poco was the worst tho, it was actually so bad it was affecting the quality of the pictures.

I will try my best. I'm from germany and the devices is from tradingshenzen...i don't know how they will react I have read horrible story's about them when it's coming to exchange devices or reparing them ..
I don't have any issues with my Mi 11 Ultra like this, seems definitely like a defective unit. So better to exchange on this.

From which date? From the date I bought it or from the point I got it? I bought it on the 03.04 already but I got it almost 4 weeks later and where did you get your information from? I can't find any on the website

Okay, I already opened a support ticket in TS. I will keep you guys up to date^^
Son of a biscuit stick. I was wondering what the odds were that someone had literal dust in their camera module. I went ahead and checked my Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra... I have dust in mine too. Or rather one big spec of dust. I cleaned the outside surface with no avail. I just got my unit last Friday too. I've reached out to WondaMobile, to see what can be done. Have you guys ever encountered any issues with Wonda? This is my first purchase from them and I have no idea what's in store for me.

Update! I sent WondaMobile an email and they responded extremely fast. They asked me to send it back, so they could check the device. If it is factory faulty, not man made damages. They have agreed to refund me. They also stated that device is out of stock atm, so a replacement was not guaranteed. However, I could submit it for a warranty claim and see if they can get me a replacement that way instead, if it's deemed a man made damage.

Hey! Thx for your reply. Again: I'm responding quite late I'm not getting any notifications. Well I need to give it back too and they will look for dust. Thing is it's not really big -, I'm afraid they telling me it's fine but I don't think having any kind of dust anywhere is "Fine" for a 1100€ flagship. Thx for you post tho, it could help me out to get some pressure on them if needed. I will play my joker PayPal card too if it's nesescary.
No dust is "normal" for ANY phone. I checked mine and it's absolutely perfect.
Most likely a faulty batch
Good luck and keep us posted on the developement !
Cheers !
You guys are making me afraid to check mine lol
I'm debating on sending the unit back. Shipment is at least $65 USD and then god knows how long the wait will be. There is no guarantee that they will replace the unit. I could get a refund, but it'll take a couple of weeks to get it (with shipment and processing). I personally feel like Wondamobile will refund me, but it's just a hassle.
The spec of dust is on my telephoto, which I don't use anyways. It doesn't really affect me much. It's easier for me to just open up the device, clean the lense and reseal it. The dust is not inside the camera, but right on the glass layer above it. Doing so would affect the IP68 rating, since it probably won't have the same water resistance. I don't really put my phone in such environments. So other than a small inconvenience, it's not too bad.
However, I do agree that buying a phone with dust is not acceptable. Especially for the hefty price tag. A consumer should not be required to fix a manufacturing issue. But after evaluating my options, it's easier and cheaper for me to just fix the issue myself. Granted that I enjoy tinkering with tech and I have some general experience taking electronics apart.
But yeah, I would say ship it back. If the issue is indeed a manufacturing issue and there is no resolution/ they refuse to address the issue, totally reach out to your bank or PayPal to get that addressed. I hate doing charge backs, but sometimes they are needed. Especially when if it's a issue you had no control over it.

I couldn't say it any better although I would strongly advice you to ship it back. Remember you got a ceramic back - it's way harder to open without breaking it. I'm working at a German mobile Refurbisher and im dealing with these kinds of things every day but I wouldn't do that on a new device which costs around 1000+€. Isn't there any way for them to exchange it with another unit maybe from another costumer who gave back the mobile? They can't repair it anyway. This device is most likely to be sold in a few years to Refurbishers like I am one. I wrote with a guy from tradingshenzen and he told me that he will either give my money back after recieving the device or swap it against a new one if possible from another costumer who gave it back and which isn't opend up. I hate dealing with give backs too it's super annoying to me...i waited 6 weeks for my device just to wait a few weeks more now too although I'm really glad that I got the possibility to send it back to a German service point.

Thanks for your feedback. I'm confident that I can get it opened and sealed up. There is always a risk though and It's never the same afterwards, compared to a new factory sealed device. I still have some time to reevaluate the situation. I'll think it over today and decide tomorrow morning.
What I'm not looking forward to is the wait and the loss of an additional $65 for shipment. I knew that ordering a phone internationally was a risk, and that's just one of the downsides.
Wondamobile support told me that they did not have any global units in stock, and that they didn't know when they would come back in stock either. So a replacement was not something they could do. They stated that they could conduct a warranty claim and see if Xiaomi can get that replaced, if I wanted to go that route. The other option would be to refund the device of course. Honestly, if I do ship it back I'll just get it refunded and wait for the device to be more wildly available.
All I know is if I get my $1300 back, I'll be extremely hesitant to purchase any phone internationally again. I'll see if maybe there is a more local seller. Only time will tell.
Thanks again. I'll keep you posted on what I decided tomorrow morning, but now I am aiming more towards the refund. Might even buy the white version in the future with the refund.

The only good news is, they get cheaper with time... But this is really crappy build quality from Xiaomi and further proves they are not really ready to compete on the world flagship stage with Samsung and Apple etc
Some people paid ~$1500 for devices with manufacturing dust in the camera lenses which is just unacceptable imo
i had a look at mine and can't see anything but I haven't used a magnifying glass and a torch yet because I have no return option anyway since I got mine from the first batch released in China

Agreed, they should be putting in more measures to ensure quality is met before they ship the devices out.
This has been my first Xiaomi phone, and now I'm hesitant to try getting a new Xiaomi phone in the future. It could have just been bad luck on my side, but I'm certain more customers are bound to have the same dust issue, hence why this post is even a thing.
I really wanted to give Xiaomi the benefit of the doubt with the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra, but you are correct. They're just not on the same level as Samsung and Apple yet. I want to be optimistic, but for now I'll make sure to wait several months before commiting to a new Xiaomi phone. Just so I can know all the possible quirks and issues. Only then can I really decide if it's worth it.
