KitKat is Awesome but no boot down animation? - Sprint HTC One (M7)

It may just not need it as my phone shuts down very quickly and boots up quickly as well.
Just wondering if anyone know where the boot down animation would be?
found to boot up animation in /system/media
but no sign of the down animation location...
Anyway Thanks to all the Devs out there ... I don't say that enough...
EDIT: BTW dont try to just put a shutdown.zip in /system/media.... Your phone will no longer shut down.... Weird!?!?

I don't think aosp has ever had a shutdown animation.

No version of android has ever had native shutdown animations. It was always placed in at the UI level by the manufacturer or ROM developers.
Sent from my LG-G2 using Tapatalk

The ROM I'm using now has one. It's located in the same place as the boot animation.
it's called shutdownanimation_sprint.zip

You do realize you responded to a six month old question, right?
But yes, on topic, it should reside where the startup animation is, some ROMs have it in /system/customize/resource/ and some in /system/media/. Most ROMs don't come with it, as Hellot1M mentioned.

[BOOT][DK28][CWM3][01/19/11] CIA Boot Animation - Edify/Amend

Requirements:
- DK28 ROM with kernel that can run custom boot animations (Bonsai4All, ViperROM, etc)
- Ability to boot into ClockWorkMod Recovery (any version) and flash a .zip file
What is it?
- As requested by lazydazed, a working CIA boot animation (I ported fromTP2); I made a few modifications to my liking
- Won't overwrite your existing boot sound
- The preview plays pretty quick, but the actual speed on the device is appropriate
PREVIEW
Instructions:
- Download .zip to SD Card
- Flash in CWM (all versions of CWM supported)
Download updated 01/19/11 - now supports all version of CWM recovery
looks great! nice job
Thanks!

how about a tutorial thread?
I flashed it via Clockwork and it didn't show during bootup. I'm pretty sure I did everything right. I'll try reflashing. ACS DK28 Stock rom
I don't think acs' stok kernel supports custom boot animations out of the box. Maybe try one of the Bonsai roms or maybe swap thekernels and see if that does the trick

Correct, this (or any custom boot animation) will not run on a stock kernel.
Yea, I kind of figured that was the problem. Total sadface on that. Thanks for the info.

I had wondered what kind of shutdown animation would fit. I was fooling around with the logo in After Effects seeing if there was a way I could make it disappear in a way similar to turning off an old tube tv set. Couldn't figure it out and moved on to other things.
Anyone have any suggestions?
I was thinking something simple like "Backing up Level 7 Encrypted Files" in green with a flashing command prompt. Then some cryptic text can fill off the command prompt. Maybe then some text could pop up saying something to the effect of, "Logging Off"
Just simple and secretive
Will this work on a DI18 rom that supports boot animations?

[REQ] Galaxy S Boot Animation DL30

Anyone have a "Galaxy S" boot animation?
Will the DL09 boot animation work or does a special one need to be CWM to the device.
Also, if someone could post a link that would be great.
I don't belive using a previous boot animation will work. We most likely will need to wait until the kernal source is released to use custom boot animations.
Seems like it might be possible to use the old one but at the moment SonOfSkywalker3's ROM manager page is down and I don't think I have it anywhere else.

No, this kernel does not support bootanimation.zip, we're stuck using the QMG boot animations. However, this does not mean you have to be stuck with the Fascinate's boot animation.
I've packaged up the Korean and the European Galaxy S stock boot animations, they're both nice alternatives to our "Verizoned" one. Just flash em in clockwork to give em a try.
KR Galaxy S Boot/Shutdown:
http://www.mediafire.com/?284o7auu1of2nnl
EU Galaxy S Boot/Shutdown:
http://www.mediafire.com/?5824mdkqcqcn057
these abort install in clockwork
Beyond messed up update_script, there's a bit more wrong, so don't copy all those files into your phones just yet, I'll reupload them when it's sorted out...
Well that's good to know. The superclean ROM doesn't have an animation. Makes me think there is something wrong on bootyp with only a black screen.

jt posted a kernel with bootanimation.zip support in IRC last night. If no one posts it up before I get home, I'll be sure to post it here for you folks then.

awesome thanx
Thank you very much imnuts that would be excellent. Thank you too CrushD.
Re-updated my above post with the correct files/some stock files in case you tried to copy over files from the older update. I've been using these animations on DL30, but I accidentally packaged the wrong files and signed it wrong earlier. These ones work, I personally recommend the Korean one.
Thank jt for this
It will also flash the new cwm kernel to recovery for you as well.
The "eu bootanimation" bricked my phone...

i would never have guessed that a simple boot animation would require a specific kernel lol

Luckily, it was one of the things that could be changed without requiring the kernel source.

Boot Animations

Wondering where the boot animations go in the note 4, tired of the TMobile one already. International Note 4 or (android peeing on apple is best ever ) would be sweet. just wondering where they go.

The boot animation qmg files go into: /system/media
It would be a good idea to rename existing files and
not over-write them just in case you decide you want
the stock animations in the future.
Good luck!
Once i have time and the boot animation bin that makes zips work i will definitely be making boot animations

Thanks for the location, tried swapping in a few but they were older, different resolutions and didn't work (one set even broke my lock button?!?!? but a reflash of the rom fixed that, dunno why that would happen though...), guess i'll wait for gods work to be done lol

Well they work the same as they always have I'm just embarrassed to say I put the wrong permissions before. Using a marvel avengers one currently and it looks gorgeous on this phone.

I set perm's to 0755 and it's not working - now my kernel may not support it (stock, deodexed currently) -still i am curious to know what permissions you used that definitively worked.
I appreciate any time/information you can spare.
Cheers!

Make sure to rename current boot animation to bootanimation.zip.bak. Then copy new boot animation to folder, and make sure it is named bootanimation.zip. Should work.
It's was all just an illusion

That's what I original tried but didn't work , I had to go OEM in root then go to media and delete the boot animation cause that's at&t boot anime.

Boot animation / logo.bin

Greetings,
Here is a boot animation I made and I thought some of you
might like it. Although I didn't make the main animation
I put quite a bit of time into it. I also made two logo.bin
files, one has moto at the bottom the other is motoless.
The logo.bin zips are flashable (thank you metpolds), the
boot animation is not. You know the drill: back up, rename,
system/media, 644, reboot. I think its worth a test drive.
Bye.
*As far as I know the stock rom uses mp4 format for the boot animation. These will work if you are using stock rom.
**The boot logos should only be flashed on the moto x pure/style only!!! Stock or custom rom will be OK.
I have posted many of these now. Make sure to look at the entire thread.
*Found a couple things I didn't like. The transition between boot logo and boot animation is now seamless. It looks so much better. (Sorry about that)
There isn't anything wrong with the first files. You don't have to replace them if you don't want to. The new ones are better though.
Bye
I will be doing regular updates so keep coming back.
Did a new one.
Both the bootlogo and bootanimation are flashable.
The actual bootanimation will run longer than what
the gif is showing.
Here is another.
bootlogo x3 flashable
bootanimation
walls for hs/ls
Bye.
Here's another.
bootlogo (flashable)
bootanimation (andy looses his head but he gets it back)
walls (hs/ls)
Bye.

Elephants.
Here's one.

bootanimation

Bye.
I wasn't happy with the last one.
Made some changes to everything except logo.bin.

I'm glad you like it.
Thanks for checking them out.
I think this is the best one so far.
I found the sphere here on XDA.
I hope you like it.
I'll be posting a dark version later.
Bye
(added screen shots)
Here's the dark version of the one above.
I hope you like it.
btw, the boot animation doesn't repeatedly zoom in and out as the .gif is showing.
Enjoy,
Bye.
Hello,
I wasn't sure about this one when I started it but...
I it came out quite nice actually. Its a bit different.
There are two flashable boot logos to choose from.
If there is any interest in a dark version I'll make one.
Bye.
One more.
Boot logo is flashable.
Plays well on device. Looks good.
I used boot logo1. Boot animation starts at that image.
Seamless transfer from logo to animation.
Bye
FYI, When I played the gif animation in one browser the blue half circle just flashed back and forth. The half circle actually spins very quickly. The other browser I use played it fine.
I AM REALLY LIKING THIS ONE. Does anyone else agree or am I alone on this? This ones worth a look. Flash boot logo1 its really cool.

About the boot logo, i think that one replaces my bootloader unlocked warning isnt it?
In case of some problems, do you know how to restore the boot logo? Just bij TWRP?
Thanks.

As for the boot logo, flash them with twrp. I've never gone back to my original boot logo but if you do a search on xda I'm sure you can find the original and flash it. Your device is moto x pure right?

Here is something different.
I found the drawn "moto flower" on google.
I just added some color and motion to liven it up.
Boot logos are flashable.
Bye
