I can't import calendar .Ics files with Android calendar app - Moto X Q&A

Why can't I import .ics files into the calendar app on my motox? I was able to do this on my stock S2 / S3 / note2 and I assumed it was a stock functionality but now that I own a motox I realised it must be a just a touchwiz functionality.
Anyone know why Google left this out, you'd assume this is a basic feature.

the play store also has some application for this.

1) is easy. Use a root explorer and rename/delete the files /system/media/audio/poweron/poweron.mp3 and /system/media/audio/poweroff/poweroff.mp3.
2) Not sure exactly what you mean. If you want to force the phone to only use google contacts or if you want to delete the contact program alltogether (which means you must install another contact manager yourself.) Please explain what you're trying to achieve.
Thank you for the first answer.
Regarding the second one. I want to only use google contacts. Now by default if i create a new contact it is stored as local lg storage and i need to change it to my google account manually. I like the contacts app itself just not the lg integration in it.

Then 2) is just as easy, you need to freeze/uninstall "LG PC Suite".
Double thanks. That worked perfectly!

Looking for something specific. I love PA roms but i need an s planner replacement. Before anyone rants about search, i have done so and tried ooodles of calender apps but i need something like s planner that can attach a an s pen created memo or camera image to a calender entry. I drive buses and need to add notes/images in case of any incidents. They need to be stored and synced for years. S planner is the best thing for this but id love to be able to ditch tw roms. It needs to be quick, unfussy and support s pen/image notes.

Supposedly, should go to settings - controls - language and input - text-to-speech (TTS) options - Samsung TTS engine and press configure cog. Then install voice data and download high quality voice female, but it doesn't do anything (in my case just a popup window that says it will download and nothing else happens). Can you please check this on your device also? It might be a software bug

You have to have Samsung apps enabled.
At&t Note III...& At&t G Pro
I did that too and mine downloaded but still Samsung voice. On Google map it used to be more human voice .

Yup, same here. I want the Google voice, not the HD samsung voice.
I have this problem on my Huawei P6, and from doing reseach I believe it's the TTS. If you look at under language and input, there is no Google-Text-To-Speach engine, but instead just the Samsung one.
I still couldn't find a way to download (or where to download the app for that matter) the Google TTS engine.
I hope some can figure this out, because that Samsung voice is really annoying. The funny thing is, Google Now have the correct voice/sound.

in the text to speech menu under advanced samsung has HD voice downloads and they all sound really good. and there free
I took a peek on the link provided as far as a work around for this issue/annoyance, and seems like a lot of work.
Anyway, I've found an easier solution. You have to be rooted and have Titanium backup. Not sure if it will for everyone, but it sure works on my phone.
All I did was freeze the Samsung TTS engine, and like a miracle my Google maps now sounds wonderful (it use the Google voice/speech) now.
Let me know if this works for you guys.
I'm happy now.

If you do this then when using navigation it will not say the name of the streets. It will only say turn right in 1000 feet.

Saying the street names is basic functionality. The omission is inexcusable.

This ^^^ /Agreed. That's probably why it's called voice guidance
Voice sound
Google's map navigation function is pretty better than apple's. It shouldn't be lead you to lost at a different location.

[APP] KitKat 4.4 email app working with the XZ

Dears, sorry if this was already posted, but the email app from kitkat android i found over at android police just rocks and beats the crap out of the sony stock app.
Here is the link: http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/...4-4-with-gmail-style-ui-and-a-slide-out-menu/
FYG i downloaded both the email app and the exchange app and just installed those as usual apk (no flashing or system pushing), then disabled the stock app via settings native function (but as i can see these two can coexist, though cannot imagine who'd want to keep the stock email when having this).
have fun
PS
Sorry, but no screenies, but it looks just like the latest gmail app.

Work fantastic. It's nice having a common interface between Gmail and Email.
If only there was a way to print emails via Google Cloud print...

[Q] Help: Transfer S4 S-memo to S5 Memo problem

Hi everyone, I just upgrade my S4 to S5 and I transfer everything by TB, so far seems everything ok, but there is one problem, there are lot of notes under my S4 S-Memo apps, I think only "Memo" Apps on S5, I am able to export all my notes from S4 to google drive, but I only able to use Samsung account only on S5's Memo, and I don't know what folder is S5's memo located, I really needs those notes cause I using lot of them everyday, can anyone please let me how I can able to get those notes works on my S5? thank so much....
If you search in the Samsung app store, they have an app called "Smart Switch Mobile". Install this on your old phone and on the new and it will automagically transfer and convert the notes into the new s5 format. Worked wonders for me!
