So after having a lot of troubles with 4.3.x on this phone I decided to go back to 4.2.2 until 4.4 is finally stable for us;
Only problem is, whenever I flash any kind of 4.2.2 ROM, my phone decides to get stuck on "Obtaining IP Address..." when trying to log in to my Wi-Fi, while it works perfectly after flashing 4.3 again.
I also tried multiple different Kernels but no difference at all.
Anyone got any idea what might be causing this? I really want to go back to 4.2.2 since on 4.3 I get problems like my phone taking ages to wake up from stand-by or not waking up at all and having immense battery drain caused by wlan_rx_wake.
I'm thankful for any help.

As I've said, any 4.2.2 ROM I tried, which is about 5 different ones, has the same issue.

sorry, misread ><
could it be a problem with your home network? can you try another network around you?
i had this issue with custom 4.1.2 roms such as zaiben, but haven't read that anyone had this issue on any 4.2.2 roms.
Some roms cant connect to the WEP networks (or other ones i forgot witch is exactly ) Try changing your network securiti.

Liquidsmooth was actually the first one I tried, followed by XenonHD, CARBON, various CM 10.1 releases and ReVolt, all with the same issue.

Alright, I'll try MIUI, also I always format /data, cache and dalvik.
There is no option in my recovery to format system but it says it does that automatically, when flashing a new ROM
MIUI Download will take about 20 minutes since their servers severely cripple download speeds.
In CWM in mount and storage you have format /system idk what recovery you are using.

Please do note that I greatly appreciate you trying to help me. <3
MIUI also fails at getting an IP address.
So problem must be with your rooter then. Can you restart it and change password ? BTW does your password contains only numbers or it also contains letters ? This is maybe strange but my sisters prone wont connect to our rooter if we set pass just numbers idk why.

How can the problem be with my router when the same problem appears when connecting to a different AP, but also doesn't appear when I'm on 4.3?
I'm sorry but that makes absolutely no sense.
My password is letters and numbers.
Your best bet is most likely to re-stock and start all over again from scratch
flash a kdz, then flash a recovery, flash your desired ROM and then see what wifi will tell you
Also in general, re-stocking every now and then is not the worst idea, it can help to solve quite some problems

Thanks, I'll try that; If it doesn't work I'll just have to go back to 4.3 and deal with the other problems.
Well something will work since it is not hardwer problem.I just reflashed mine slimbean rom to see if wifi is working and everything is fine...Tryed on liquid and now will flesh MIUI to check it too.

Hy, i have a Galaxy Next Plus(it's a tim-italian version of pop plus) and everything was fine since i flashed some custom roms.
The problem is that i can't connect to wifi...no no. I CAN connect(it says connected) BUT there is no internet acces.
I mention that when i bought the phone wifi works but after roms flashing it does not. Now i am using stock rom 2.3.6 with px-kernel 2.6.35.7
What i should do to fix it?
P.S.:i tried reset, data wipe restart, battery pull, dial *#*#526 or something... etc and i still can not acces internet with wifi connection (i can use hsdpa)
maybe the problem is in hardware...
Have you flashed the stock firmware along with the stock kernel?

Thanks. It works. But i really want to use Jelly Blast ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1972961 because it has nice look and is very quick. With stock rom the phone is laggy.
So is any solution for me to make wi-fi work on this ROM??

hi mates !
I tried 3 jelly bean roms and i experienced this problem most of the time:"lack in messaging scroll" and its too bad
I had been flashed these roms a lot to fix this but it worked just few times and by another flash, it goes away
and I think its accidently!
for example I had flashed Ultimate 5.1 recently, the scrolling act in my messaging is really good and when flash it again, It goes like before.
any one know whats the problem with it? any one has experienced this Problem?
I always do all wipes and formats before flashing>
Thanks bros
Mate it's a leak only.. So don't expect it to be stable as official rom.. If you can't live with these bugs then flash a stock rom and stay stocked

Hello xda
I know there quite a few posts out there with people detailing their phones rebooting randomly but my phone just hit a new level of weird.
My i9000 reboots randomly into cwm recovery menu for no good reason (I know there is another thread about this but that instance is on the Nexus S and the thread has basically died). This started occurring shortly after I flashed slim ROM 4.2.2 build 5 (came from CM10.1 nightlies). Flashing the rom again and updating it to build 6 has done nothing to alleviate the issue.
I'm using the Semaphore kernel with no OC or changed settings, and having recently bought a new battery, I'm really not sure where to start looking for the problem.
If anyone can give me some tips it'd be greatly appreciate, thanks in advance.

hi
randomly i will got this problem if i m flashing backward. like from 4.2.2 - 4.2.1, or 4.1.x to 4.0.x. or repeatedly changing between kernel (i always do this to modified ROM to suits my settings n need) its probably due to changing partition in system or kernel clash (even i did all wipe) in internalsd.
Sorry to say. it will come worst sometimes if u ignore da problem or keep flashing ROM to avoid it. 'Luckily' about 2 hour ago my sgs just did. Constantly booting to recovery n its juz bootloop between kernel splashscreen n sgs white splashscreen after it.3 combo button will not working for recovery n only download mode accessible.
no more method for me . Juz flashing back to stock firmware JVU +CF-ROOT with odin was da answers
but if u dont familiar with odin.seek guide here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2149455
but use it as ur last method!
clashing between titan.....no! kernel maybe da reason.do some wiping before changing kernel or ROM. n format system if necessary before flashing!

Reboots into CMW with Slim Bean 4.3 and Semaphore
Hi guys, any news on the subject? Exactly the same thing happening to me. I did a clean installation of Slim 4.3, after using CM10 and everything seems to be working perfectly except it reboots into CWM every 1-2h!!! I haven't changed any configuration and didn't mess with the kernel that came with the ROM, which is Semaphore... Is it a kernel issue? Should I try to flash the latest version?

I run into the same problem with my current update of my I9000 to CM 10.2.1 and the Semaphore Kernel 3.3.0 (JB).
Any ideas on this issue from the pros?
I realized that it was happening to me only when I was loosing the network coverage, like being in the underground or roaming or things like that... I don't know if it happens to everyone but in my case it's definitely this. If there is no network available my phone will boot into recovery after a while. If the signal is OK, it doesn't happen. Maybe it has something to do with the modem?!

Hi all,
I am currently using CM10.2. I am happy with it, but I might need MHL for somehow. Can I flash back and fore between CM10.2 to Stock without wipe my cache and data and I get
1, stable enough to run on both ROM
2, Personal data still good(still keeping like whatsapp history, contact data etc)
I am not brave enough to test by myself, hope anyone can help. Thanks

You can try it but you will for sure get a bootloop, especially with stock and custom rom. This way you are maybe able to change between custom ROMs with same android version, but stock is older than CM 10.2.

That's what I meant the differences between android version are to big and especially if you have a stock and a custom rom. Too many files/file paths are different and your system will screw up. It will boot, show the LG logo and reboot. That's why every single custom rom thread has the wipe part in it's instructions.
Like I said you can try it but I see no chance. I did it once between two custom ROMs (both CM 10.1) and even that didn't work out good.
It booted but every single app and system itself force closed repeatedly.

Hi,
I tried searching but the search here on XDA isn't working well for me, don't know why but I can only search once, after that the search box become un-clickable and I need to browse back and forward again to use the search again, did that a few times with no results.
Anyway, what I wanted to know is what is the exact newest Official Firmware version for the Galaxy S3 Mini I8190 (Regular, no letter after it)
my current version is I8190XXAME1, is there a newer version available? I'm having all sorts of strange problems and hoping a newer version exists that will solve them.
Thank you.
I assume I8190XXAMG4 is newer than I8190XXAME1, right?
That's the only thing I managed to find that looks newer, the firmware file is certainly from a newer date.
Go to sammobile, register an account select firmware, select download and then select gti8190. If you want to root this firmware use this:

A couple of day ago my phone froze, had to remove the battery to release the freeze, since then, my display language, which was Hebrew disappeared from the language selection list and even apps like morelocale 2 didn't work, only temporarily until the next restart of the phone.
After the upgrade the Hebrew returned to the list of languages as normal.
Also, lately touchwiz seems to crash a lot, didn't have it yet since the upgrade to the new version.
Ahh OK. My wife and my friends phone both have apparently common issues where the battery gets drained quicker then it should. I'm currently reviewing custom ROMs for my friends phone, not that many on this phone.

Oh yeah, that makes sense since the alphas betas and nightlies are pretty unstable - well then they make RCs and Stable versions which you can get with only benefits, but hey an opinion's an opinion, can't fight it.
