Hello friends,
I tried reverting back from 4.3 Developer Edition back to my original phone's condition by restoring a 4.1.2 CWM backup (Rogers) that I had. This worked, except the touch drivers don't work. I tried to run a 4.2.2 update under RUU, which seemed to break after the first attempt, and the second attempt did not work.
HBOOT 1.55 flagged the OS version and from here on out my computer stopped recognizing my device over fastboot (but is fine in ADB).
I've reverted back to my HBOOT 1.44 and the OS version flag is gone, but I'm still getting Failed Device Enumeration. Is there a partition I may have broken during the failed RUU?
You using windows 8.1 by chance? If so, you're not alone...

Yeah! Welcome to this laaarge club! Win 8.1 hate our One.
There's a thread just for this here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=46794667
Easiest fix is flashing through Linux... even a live CD works.
I fixed my issue by completely deleting my htc drivers (there is also an HTC folder under programfilesx86) and reinstalling.

Looks like it hates all the HBOOTS except 1.55 from 3.22 base. I put that HBOOT back onto my phone, and fastboot works fine with Windows 8.1 and HBOOT 1.55. This is letting me get back into RebootRUU to run the RUU for the 4.3 developer edition until I try this thing again later hahaha.
I've just got a new laptop and after installing 8.1 fastboot is working fine with the HTC Sync Manager drivers and FW 3.62 so yeah, assumed HTC fixed it!

But it doesn't work with hboot 1.44 which I needed to return to stock by running the 1.27.401.7 RUU. I had to re-install windows 8 to run the RUU then upgrade back to windows 8.1 afterwards which is not such an ordeal for me as I store all of my data on an external hard drive.
If we could just get hold of a more recent .401 RUU I would be very happy then all my windows 8.1 issues will be resolved.

Hi, I'm trying to unroot my phone and put it back on stock. However, I have S-On and my PC is on Win 8.1 Pro which makes fastboot broken (i ran fastboot devices and nothing came up. On ADB, it sees my device) so I can't run Rumrummer to give me S- Off. Can't do the RUU because I need to relock my bootloader but to do that, I need S-Off. What can I do to get around all this to get unrooted and stock?
don't remember where in forum I seen it but if you search a bit you can find the drivers for win 8.1. search and read!
edit.....nice post count!!!!

Hahaha just noticed the 666 But I forgot to mention that I did search for the Win 8.1 drivers but in one thread i saw, they used the win 7 64 bit htc drivers to get it to work. Obviously it didn't work for me, so i'll try finding official win 8.1 drivers. I did see a thread about switching the usb 3.0 drivers to the microsoft intel drivers but my pc uses AMD :/ Any links that anyone finds or extra advice and info is appreciated.

Next milestone is 6,666 ? lol. I found a stock rom reset here This should take care of me getting on stock unrooted. Next problem is to get rid of the tampered sign on the bootloader. Gotta be S-off to do that. So many issues with fastboot though. I"ll try running Rumrunner again when i flash this rom. Not sure if hboot is a prob, it's still 1.44. Actually, would going to stock 4.3 unrooted make the fastboot work again so i can run Rumrunner ?

I have heard updating your hboot to 1.55 will allow the drivers to work in fastboot on Win 8.1

I read that too. On Rumrunner, it requires you to have S-off before you can flash the hboot zip. Unless you know another source that can do it without s off.

I have a terrible problem. my htc in bootloader mode> fastboot, the computer does not recognize the device, but when it is turned recognize it in a few seconds and this since I put in s-off. Win 7, no I don't
Can I change my hboot to make it compatible?
Actually maybe it was 1.56 that didn't like Windows 8. Argh I can't remember. If you are s off you can easily downgrade or upgrade hboot

I tried rum runner and its says at the end failure(I tried many times with different roms) and I think it might be because of Windows.
P.S I have hboot 1.57 on international htc one.
That doesn't have anything to do with windows 8.1. The only issue you might have is with driver signing and you can workaround that by shutting off driver enforcement for when you go to install. After that you can boot normally.

You can try this method using the "old dirty solution", it has worked for some.
