Didn't see this posted anywhere. Has anyone been able to connect a HR monitor and be able to monitor on the watch?

hi, yes, i am using an app called Runtastic pro ( paid vers ,as it gives h/rate readings )
Then i also have a " Runtastic gear version " in Samsung store for the gear watch .
One point to note is that you have to have a bluetooth h/rate monitor/ strap
i use a POLAR bluetooth combo see pic.( No problems ,but at first a bit tricky to set up ,but works 100% afterwards)
yes then there is the S health app on phone Note 3 that you can also use.
it works on the ANT + technology where mine works on bluetooth v 4.

Download the gear manager app. You cant use the nfc tag because you dont have a note 3. Find the apk. Install it. Voila!!

Did you have the little charging cradle against the back of the Note 3? If not, do so, let it make the sound, make sure numbers match on Gear andNote. Next, hit ok on both and they should pair.
Plan B if they don't pair. Go to the Note Bluetooth settings and scan for the Gear manually. It should find it, hit ok on Gear and Note if numbers match on both and u r ready to go.
Let's us know if it does not work.
Also, in the Gear watch itself, go to settings, Bluetooth and make sure it is checked.

I am also having the same problem. Mine would pair if initially if using NFC but after ticking "agree" to all the terms and conditions the bluetooth will turn off (at least that's what it says on the gear). I can then pair up using bluetooth manually and get into the sychronisation graphic which does not ever go away. I don't get to see the watch face at all. It seems to be forever syncing with my note3. I think I might have to get a replacement. Resetting and repairing wouldn't work either....
Simple solution. Don't look into it to far. Just make sure you download and fully run gear manager on your phone before you connect. Simple as that. Same thing happened to me when I set it up.... got a little toy happy and neglected to run the proper steps

My question is simple, but I didn't find the answer on the web.
Let say I do like running. So is it possible to connect directly bluetooth headphones to the gear to play music while I am running and not to carry GN3 with me?
Do you not need to have the gn3 with or close to you to be able to use the gear since the gear is connected to the Phone through bluetooth?

Unless you have music stored on the watch but I'm not sure that's possible since you can only control music on your phone from the watch

No, I have Null Rom on my gear. I would like to put some music to the gear and go running with it. I dont need Note 3 with me.
That is why I ask is it possible
i own a bluetooth headset, gear discovers it but it's unable to connect.
now this might due to some missing stuff of android. i'm still on old null 11 that works well for me so i see no reason to upgrading now, but perhaps it's possible with newer version?
i would like to be able to stream music from it as well.. running with note 3 in your pocket is not really confident.
This would be nice but we seem to be limited on Bluetooth connectivity in the USA. I know that you can put music files and play them through the Gear's speaker, by sideloading programs like Apollo, it works really well.
I would like to be able to do this also. On Null rom 15 currently, have sidloaded many apps, one of which is poweramp. I can also sideload MP3's, but if I can't pair my BT headphones it doesn't do much good. Hoping someone can find a way of using BT headphones with the Gear as a stand alone.
F0mey hasn't been able to get a Bluetooth profile that works for this
You can ofcourse put music on (only 4gb storage though!) and sideload a music app
Please help me out in this
I own a galaxy gear and a Bluetooth headset , i would like play music on galaxy gear and hear it on bluetooth headset. So my question is it possible to connect galaxy gear to Bluetooth headset. Pls help me out, I'm 13 yrs old so be more specific.
Thanx in advance

You can do this if you change your gear over to tizen. I am now running tizen and have two apps for media, one called media controller (controls media on the phone) the other called media player (allows gear to run as a stand alone media player with bluetooth headphones)
I'm not sure if it will work or not but this app has let me pair problematic headsets with certain stubborn devices in the past https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=es.qrr.android.btoolkit
It's worth a shot installing on the gear and testing....
i heard Null rom unlocks the BT stack and allows you to connect to other BT devices just like a normal Android device?? is this true or we really have to move to tizen?

Null does allow pairing with some bluetooth profiles such as hid. I've successfully paired and used a bluetooth keyboard and mouse with the gear. However a bluetooth headset, speaker or headphones requires a2dp profile. This is missing in the android version but available with tizen.
I'd love to have this function working with null as the hardware is obviously capable of it. I'm not prepared to give up null for this function as it would mean giving up lots of other functions I enjoy. I'm guessing you'd need to add the profile maybe from porting from a compatible Rom but that's way beyond my ability.
Ah thanks for clarification, sadly this is the main reason I buy gear one, to direct stream music to Bluetooth. Well, let see..

did anyone managed to pair it with Null?
Im surfing all over the net and there is no other way to do it unless you install stupid Tizen that has close to none of awesome abilities like Null. Is there any way to pair the gear 1 with headphones and run it like mp3. Or is there a way to have dualboot for gear 1? Having tizen and null and beingable to pick up booting aint that bad and it would do the trick

sorry to disagree but i like tizen. how many hours you gear can last with null? fyi i tried null for few days long time ago, so apologies if the battery life is now improved. but i like tizen, battery life is probably the best amongs android gear and apple watch. plus i can connect direct to bt headset. and tizen has camera
Loong enough

Up to 3 days if i dont listen to music on it. Anyway i dont like Tizen becosue i dont have any chance to install google browser, no youtube, mxplyaer, Rocket player, Facebook Lite or anything. When im at work i cant sneaky check anything on phone becouse i dont want to risk to break my phone but i can go with watch and since it has a nice BT range its usefull. But when im runing i dont want to holde huge ass z3 in my pocket again and pair it with headphones since i already have a bt capable device that can already play music with awesome equalizers. Rocket Player is one of the best out there and unless someone finds a way to get Tizen to instal all the aps that im using, there is no way ill instal that rom. Way to useless curently
Hi, I'm interested to use the Gear for cycling and running without having to bring my phone with me.
Has anyone tried to install a full fitness app on the gear (MapmyRun of Runkeeper...) and pair with a BT HR strap and a BT stride sensor?
Any recommendations for a fitness app that does not need an internet connection when recording? Other than that - should work right or no?
No GPS so will not be that useful with out the phone.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk
GPS not needed for distance - BT stride sensor can give as accurate as GPS and indoors also... my question can we run a fully installed fitness app on the watch, pair using BT a HR and a stride sensor...and then upload when connected to the hanset after completion..?
If the app supports cloud sync across different devices under the same account then it'll work.
---------- Post added at 06:12 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:02 PM ----------
Stride sensor vs pedometer, what's the difference?
A pedometer just counts noumbr of steps. A stride sensor/footpod workiing out ur strides and stride length and therefore distance travelled.
Check a Polar S3 footpod for an example - I cant post a URL here yet. - this is not BT enabled but just for demonstration purposes....Fitness apps have standard profiles for receiving signals from Heart Rate straps and footpods.
The gear is BT4.0 enabled. SO we should be able to pair a HR and footpod. Just need an app that dont need internect connection and should be able to do right?
Data Syn not important really - just nice of possible after thats all...
At present the Gear is useless as a fitness watch - not waterproof, no gps and needs the handset... Hoping the Tizen Gear 2 will have the type of fitness app Im looking for that can operate independent to the phone for running...
I don't think any smartwatch in this or next generation will be officially designed for self-sufficiency. The current focus is notification and senor feedback to the phone.
The Gear 2 like the Gear 1 will require a handler by the smartphone for most of the analysis of the sensor data.
That's where the advantage of the Gear 1's Android OS comes in.
You can make it self-sufficient by installing any Android App directly on it.
With the null rom, you should be able to connect other accessories to it as long as you have an app that supports reading the sensor data.

Have you tried connecting with Google Fit (the default app)? I am using that and have had no problems, exercise tracking works. Have not tried any other apps.
Also make sure you have the latest AW for G2 Neo. Here is the one I am using, it is dated 2016/07/08 - https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73542831&postcount=4
Phone (updated to firmware 124) have problem with several NFC source. Have option for "running application is preferred", but this isn't working. For example default NFC payment is Google Pay. Another application can't pay. Phone haven't reaction if another payment application running on the top.
Same with Gluco Navi NFC - glucometer. Fully compatible with S health, on the S7 working without any problem. On P30 Pro only beep and vibrate, but data isn't transferred.
Same is very very poor compatibility with Samsung Gear S3. Yes, Huawei watch is in package - but clearly - this isn't really comparable watch (only up time is very nice).

Can't say much about NFC as I use Samsung pay but I do have the p30 pro connected with my Galaxy Watch 46mm LTE and everything that worked on my s10+ works splendid with the p30 pro. Absolutely everything.
