Good afternoon to you all here at XDA,
Until recent I have had no problems with any on my devices when it comes to exploiting and unlocking them but today I started to play around with my girlfriends KFHD and have now run into a few snags.
For now I would like to focus on the Home key function.
I have just installed ADW Launcher EX and after setting it all up, discovered that the home key just takes me back to the stock Kindle Home screen. Is there anyway in which I can set my home key to be default to ADW rather than stock so it will load my ADW's default screen?
Side note: I know you can use Go Launcher EX which I use with my phone but I don't fancy messing around, adding this app to the system folders and the device has a locked bootloader and not mine.
Any help is much appreciated,
Thanks for your time,
Madrox.
I believe the device needs to be rooted. So you can convert the launchers apk file to a system app.
Once it's a system app, you can set it as the default launcher and the home button will work like you want it to.

Thanks for that,
The device is rooted and everything is unlocked and ready to go apart from the Bootloader.
I have seen the /system/app approach but do not want to try it as I cant find out if it is safe on 7.2.2. I've only seen this done on earlier versions and as said device is not mine and I have no Factory Cable, I won't be trying that just yet.

I just set ADW Launcher as systam App with 7.2.2. I had to : as user app it wasn't working at all, All seems to be all right with my tablet. Only, I can' t use widgets and wallpapers - don't know why - while with 7.1.2 they worked perfectly.
Hope to be of some reassurance for you
Tested with GO Launcher EX 3.13 after reading other posts. After messing around half the day with other things, I never actually noticed this post was similar to another about Launchers so this is now a closed matter.
Like nova launcher

Given 4.1.1 is probably going to be the very last update for AT&T Atrix HD users (Bell guys are lucky with the 4.1.2!), what are we gonna do about this bug? Are we stuck with this problem for good?
In 4.1.1 whenever you switch your default keyboard to any other keyboard (say, SwiftKey or even Swype), the third party keyboard gets disabled on reboot and the OS will switch to the default/stock keyboard. This is not the end of problems.
There is the annoying status bar notification for changing input methods every time the keyboard opens. The only way to disable this from popping up is to have only one active input method. Given the stock keyboard cannot be unchecked in settings, the only way to have only one keyboard that you want (say, SwiftKey for example) is to freeze/disable the stock keyboard app leaving SwiftKey as the only available input method.
Normally, this would work fine. But in 4.1.1, because the OS disables the third party keyboard and tries to reset back to the default keyboard on reboot, when it can't find it, goes into a crash loop leaving factory reset from the recovery as the only option of making the phone usable.
Does anyone have any suggestions to solve this particular conundrum?
Here is the solution I have found:
-install swiftkey from market
-use titanium backup root to backup the app
-uninstall the app
-restore backup (app only)
However, this is only a workaround and every time SwiftKey app or language updates, the OS disables SwiftKey on reboot and defaults to the stock keyboard. So, don't disable the stock keyboard for now unless you want to risk a factory reset every time SwiftKey app or data updates through the market. This workaround also doesn't address the problem of having the annoying input devices prompt in the status bar every time you use the keyboard.
More ingenious ideas / suggestions welcome.

I have 4.1.1 and use swype as my keyboard. It has never once switched back to the default keyboard on a reboot. I have not having this issue at all.
I have 4.1.1 on my Atrix HD and I use SwiftKey 3. Never had this problem.

I don't have this issue, and I switch keyboards depending on the number of hands I'm using! Another friend with an Atrix HD also does not face this issue...

I just rebooted and SwiftKey 3 is still my default keyboard. I guess I am just lucky.

Did you install SwiftKey 3 from the Play Store before you upgraded from ICS to JB OTA? If yes, that is expected.
But if you installed the app afresh in JB or updated the app or language after you had upgraded to JB, you would have this problem.
Swiftkey Flow, Swype, Swype Beta 1.3, Smart Keyboard Pro...everything works fine without having the issue you're facing!

Like mentioned on the link above, a lot of people are facing. Did you install them all afresh in 4.1.1?
Try uninstalling all of them from the Play Store today, reinstall them again from the Play Store and see if it still works.

That might explain it! I installed SwiftKey as soon as I could when I got the phone!

When I reboot, not only do I lose my SwiftKey 3 keyboard, but my phone removes any active widgets I have on any of myscreens. AT&T sent me out another HD, andit still happens?!?!

This is a confirmed issue for all paid apps in 4.1.1.
Google has, however, corrected it in 4.1.2.
Only fix is to run a custom rom.

Hi,
at the first I wish you an happy new year. Does anyone known how to enable KFHD to display the recent/running apps?
I mean a button same to this picture right bottom, next to the home button.
http://www.techaheadcorp.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/android-roboto-font2.png
This is using in a regularly android to switch between the open apps.
In a first step it is enough to have an app in the KFHD favorized apps menu, that is able to show the recent apps.
Anyone an idea to solve my requirement?
Best regards!

This might sound a bit strange but since I flashed Bulletproof kernel yesterday I can't seem to view my own apps or settings on Google Play, I've attached a screenshot, usually I would click the top right of Google play and i could see my apps but as you can see it only appears to give me the option to search, I've gone through the app and cannot see settings or my own apps, anyone know what's happening here?

Looks like youre on a custom ROM with menu buttons removed. You need to map the menu to another button (ones Ive seen are double tap the back button). When you open the menu you can get that info. You'll have to check with your ROM to see how to access the menu.

If I'm not mistaken that kernel removes the 3 dot menu and maps it to the HTC logo inbetween the back and the home physical buttons

Running Trickdroid ROM but I've just restored my nandroid backup and I can again see my apps in Google play and the menu buttons so it was in fact the kernel that done it.
I'll just stick to stock kernel

You could just flash faux kernel which alreadu uses the HTC logo as a menu anyway. You'll then be able to access it properly.
Using titanium, I keep freezing the stick messaging app because I prefer, and use textra. But somehow it keeps getting defrosted. Anyone know where this would be happening? I have a bunch of other things frozen, but none of them defrost on their own. It's happened numerous times, I can't figure it out.

I'm not entirely sure how it works, but I recently learned it doesn't hide whatever you're freezing from the OS completely... if you go into the play store for the app it will have an "enable" button. So I'm assuming it just does whatever the system does when you go to about apps and disable them from there.
I would just hide it from your launcher. It is needed for any messaging app to function properly, so tibu won't freeze it
