I been looking for the ota kitkat for sprint moto x but the only one I came across seems to be bricking peoples phones. Anyone know of one that is working.
It doesn't brick you just need to read the sprint thread on how to flash kit kat, I'm on it with root and had no issues

OK thank you. I'll probably just have wait cause I don't have access to a computer for a couple weeks.
Probably people not reading or taking out the right lines in the XML. Need to delete a line in there before putting it up on RSD lite and returning to stock. If it's on the official firmware sites it won't brick your phone.

Anybody know where I can get the latest rogers firmware with camera ota? I would like to unroot so that I'm prepared for the 4.4 update but can't find the rogers ota file to flash.

I assume jcase the creator did and it didn't work. He found another root exploit but isn't going to release it.
I wanna try. Will it mess my phone up?

no, that vulnerability has been patched, so if something you'll test your phone againsts that vulnerability and you'll fail (so you won't mess anything up)
Really sucks he wont help us out with 4.4. Being a family guy with a career...I understand. But damn...would love root on this thing

I hope I'm not jumping the gun here, I did a while back and jcasr corrected me. But, if you read the bounty thread in the general section, he's 99.5% sure that he has figured out how to root 4.4 (may only be att though) without burning up an additional exploit... He is working on it and said he will release it when he gets a copy of the att ota.
Moto X rocking 4.4
Anyone try to downgrade from the kitkat OTA yet? Verizon can so I'm wondering if the T-Mobile folks can.

for what i know as long as you have a unlockable bootloader, you should be able to.
if not, then gg
Is it as simple as downloading the 4.2.2 for your carrier, extracting, and flashing recovery/boot/system? (from sbf-droid)
I've got the 4.4 update w modem and hlos and all that crap. (the leaked 4.4)
You dont need to downgrade to install OTA, check here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47714142#post47714142
The 4.4 on sbf.droid is the OTA? (/TMO_RETAIL_XT1053_4.4-13.11.1Q2.X-69-3_MR2_CFC.xml.zip)

Sorry, let me ask again. If you took the ota and you are on t-mobile, can you use rsd to get back to 4.2.2 camera ota? This question is directed towards the locked folks.
Thanks!

Nope un not the OTA is tus full firmware for KitKat
I guess what I should have said was official version, not the leaked 140.42.3. But yes, those instructions worked wonderfully.
Why would anyone want to do that.. Kitkat is so nice on my T-Mobile moto x

I'm planning on flashing my X back to stock, but have a question. I have a XT1053 Dev Edition running 4.4.4. Is it safe to use the 4.4.3 SBF for this?
I know in some cases downgrading causes a brick but since the OTA from 4.4.3 to 4.4.4 was only 16 MB, I'm assuming not much changed and it should be fine. But better to ask those who likely know better than I.
Thanks

Did you make a nandroid of your 4.4.3 phone?
On my XT1060, I am able to go back to 4.4.2 nandroid after taking the 4.4.4 OTA and then unroot by hand. And another poster on an XT1058 was able to go back to a stock 4.4.3 nandroid after upgrading to 4.4.4.

Then the safest thing to do is to wait for the TMobile 4.4.4 sbf to show up.
No, you can't flash 4.4.3 if you've been on 4.4.4. Not without great risk. ?
Could he download the 443 sbf and flash ONLY the system IMG via mfastboot that should be safe right
I wouldn't. That's all I can say on the topic. I don't get involved in downgrade scenarios....seen way too many poor folk brick trying. :good:
why is Moto being so slow with releasing the image?
They don't release it....it's leaked..
So its anybody's guess how long. Usually doesn't take too long. ?
Thanks guys. I've managed to rig a workaround to the issue I'm experiencing. So I can wait.

I have a moto x 2014 on verizon running android 5.1 and I wanted to know it if was possible to downgrade back down to kit kat. Of course I would need to unlock my boot loader using mofo first, but if i can do that, would it be possible to flash an older device image with kit kat(also without losing my unlocked boot loader)? If not, are there any kitkat roms for the xt1096? I couldn't find any myself.
Thank you.
It's even worse than that. You can't get root so you can't use mofo or sunshine. It is stock only for you. Sorry.
You can't root, unlock your bootloader, nor downgrade. There is absolutely no way currently for xt1096 running 5.1.
