There are some ROMs around that are deodexed and zipaligned. The ROMs around here unfortnately are themed (not to my taste) and/or have removed Samsung stuff that i use. I want a nearly untouched FW (i remove a few Samsung apps on my own).
So i'm searching for an automated method (that can also be used for future FWs) to deodex and zipalign the files of my phone (maybe only some binaries or java applications and a batch file).
I can manage to pull/push all files from/to /system/app and /system/framework but i'm not able to do the rest...
Also very interested in this. Or a clean kitchen or a how to on making a kitchen to mod our roms.

I just wanted to create a thread about MODIFYING / CREATING CUSTOM ROMS FOR THE i9000.
Does anyone know how to modify (for example, Tayutama's JPM Full ROM) ROMs?
I googled and just found some HTC ROM HowTo's.
Check my signature for all the tools u shud need in terms of deodexing, editing apks, creating signed update.zip. Thats all you really need i think :\
A zipaligner is missing.
yes that'd be perfect! trying to optimize my device myself here too.
if there's no automated way could someone be so kind to post some instructions as to how?
found some stuff on the g1 forums but i'm not sure if it'll work...

Quite an old topic, you'd be better off just creating a new thread.
Use this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=633246
Greetings to everyone. I haven't spent much time here lately but last month I've got myself a I9000, so I will keep it short.
Is there a possibility to find .apk for the new Samsung Task Manager version 1.6, and will it work on the froyo firmware XWJPA.
Thanks in advance for any answeres.
P.S. I've searched the forums but couldn't find the answer.

No idea if it will work on JPA but I just took the app and widget from my JVB so try it if you want, if it works post so others will know ok.
Feel free to hit the thanks button
Thanked
Downloading app. It seems that I need to deodex my rom to try this. Doing it now. Someone should try this also.
EDIT: Tried all but failed with the message: Problem parsing file.
Any solutions perhaps?

Don't think you needed to deodex as it came from official stock JVB ROM, did you just install it like a regular apk?
Use Root Explorer and go to /system/app/ mount it as R/W and move (not copy) the apk's there.
Let me know if that sorts the problem, it's how I've got apps from SGS 2 to run on mine.
Ha! This is just not going to work. Tried simple copying/moving to system/app/ and no luck. If anyone finds a way he can post it here.
Thanks for your help DMD9. A greatly appreciate it.

What did you move them with? If you just used the built in file manager then it won't work, you need to use Root Explorer with the folder mounted as R/W.
Happy to help, but would be happier if you actually get it working
Yes, I used root explorer and mounted the file system. I know that much There is no chance. If you have some other idea I am willing to try it, if not, I'll wait for the official app if it comes out.

There are some apks that when I decompile and recompile them, they don't work, even if I decompile and and then without changing anything recompile them again, they don't work. I think the person who made those kind of apps does something so others can't change their apps and publish them under their own name, which is a good thing and I respect that, but sometimes there is an app which is really cool but there are some problems like bad images which need to be changed.
I'm changing some picture in Handcent SMS which is a free app, but after decompiling I can not install it.
I also asked the owner for his help, and I thought I ask you guys, too.
Has anyone ever had any experience like this?
It would be great if someone could help.
Thanks in advance.
Hi
Well if these apk's u mention are not grabbed from the /system/app folder you'll need to sign them every time you edit them.

Yeah, I know. I always sign the apks which are not from /system/app, and they work just fine but in this case there is something wrong.
My guess is they have a protection agains tampering.

Got there before me!
I uninstalled the Zumocast app while playing with my new phone. If someone can give me a link to the .apk, that would be awesome. Or, if there was another way to find it, I've already Google'd it, I would love to hear the enterprising soul's method of doing that. Anything to prevent me from running the FXZ so soon. I'm not scared, soft bricked my Dinc a lot when I was learning about it back in the day. Anyway, my bionic is rooted, I just would like to have the zumocast app back. I didn't get to play with it before I inadvertently erased it. Thanks in advance to anyone with some guidance.
here you go

Thanks man. That did the trick. Thread closed, unless anyone else needs this apk.
where did you find that app?

The zumocast apk and odex can be found in the /system/app folder.
thanks for this link. i just asked for it in another thread and then stumbled across it here. is this the newest version?
Latest version?
ZumoCast updated to version 1.1.1 today(?). It fixed a problem with folders containing a very large number of files. Where can I find the .apk?
Can anyone port the new messaging app of the Xperia Z1 Kit Kat firmware? Or has it already been ported and i haven't noticed yet???
anyone?????
I'm not so much of a Dev. here. A way you can try it is to extract the apk from a rom of that fw and try to make a rom with that in.
There are so many versions out there. In the first place it would be needed to give the version no. which is required. Or posting the apk here together with the request.
Thanks for the answers guys . I found it don't worry =]
