So my phone is stuck on the Motorola Dual Core logo after trying to flash a 4.4 Rom. I am still able to get to get into my recovery and into fastboot. No matter what rom I try to flash it still seems to go into the boot cycle. I have tried flashing to stock firmware with no luck. Anyone know what I should do?
After trying to flash stock again it seems like it is on but the screen is pitch black. When holding down the power button it gives the the vibrations after a little bit. Really not sure what this means. When plugging the device into the computer when the screen is black windows does recognize that there is a device and plays the noise but it does not show up in the devices list.

Alright, try flashing back to stock manually. Unzip the .zip, open the .xml in notepad(++) and on every line you'll see something along the lines of operation, partition, img. Open a command prompt in the location of the folder that contains the .xml (not the .zip, shift-click on white space in the folder and click open command prompt window here) and flash each line by typing
Code:
fastboot operation partition img
so each should look something like
Code:
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Just don't do the one that says "GPT_MAIN1.img" or something of the sort (should be one of the first ones). Also type
Code:
fastboot -w
before you start.
same problem...
Hi all,
I have the same problem... I cannot flash CM 11.0 builds. In the first boot it works, but if you reboot, it will get stuck in Motorola's logo.
I also tried to restore original images (using sbf dot droid-developers dot org / phone.php?device=7 AT&T 4.1.1 image), but with no success.
CM 10.1 build works fine, so that's odd.
My fastboot bootloader says:
"
AP Fastbot Flash Mode (NS)
10.9B(*) (sha-2e68372 2012-11-17 23:33:08)
eMMC Info: Size 8GB
Device is UNLOCKED, Status Code: 1
...
"
Is your bootloader unlocked?
Yes
What recovery are you using?
Tried CWM 6.0.38 and Philz latest.
What ROM did you try to flash?
CM 11.1 nightly (cm-11-20131217-NIGHTLY-mb886.zip)
How did you flash it?
Wiped everything and then flashed
How are you trying to flash back to stock?
Using RSD Lite.
Thanks very much!
Did you try updating to Phiz latest here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2552622
It is my understanding that the latest CWM is required to flash 4.4 and higher roms.

Yes, I downloaded it last night... Is it better to use Philz or pure CWM?
My atrix HD broke however when it was working I was able to get cm11 on it by flashing using this recovery:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2421418
When flashing cyanogen mod, wipe EVERYTHING basically /system /cache dalvik and then storage as well, this prevents the emulated/0/0/0/0/0 directory type of thing from happening, then after flashing factory reset clear cache and wipe dalvik then start up the phone. This has always worked for me and makes a squeaky clean install

I currently use Touch CWM which Philz is based upon. From my experience, the latest release for both will do the job.

Hey guys,
My situation is that I'm trying to get a working ICS rom working, but I get a black screen on bootup for both Virtuous Quattro and Ice Cold Sandwich. I've also tried different kernels, but the same thing happens.
What I did:
Reboot into ClockworkMod Recovery
Backup
Wipe data
Wipe cache
Wipe dalvik cache
Install zip from sd card > Choose zip > Picked my zip here > Confirm
The actual rom installs with no errors or anything... then when I try to reboot, I get the white screen with "htc" in green font, as normal, then it just goes to a black screen. The backlight is on, but the screen is black... softkeys are not lit, either. Like I said, I've reflashed multiple times to no avail. I've seen videos of people on YouTube flashing on IncS, but their devices go straight to the bootloader animation after the htc logo screen.
Anybody encountered this before or know how to fix it? Thanks in advance.

Your phone must be rooted before this and also verify your downloaded zip file with checksum to make sure about proper download.
I actually encountered the same problem a few days ago. I realized it was because I flashed an incompatible Kernal zip file. So I reflashed the ROM and rebooted without flashing any kernals and it worked for me.
I have rooted, and have superuser access. I have also redownloaded and checked the md5 sums. I'll try to download it again and test...
I just redownloaded and rechecked the md5 sums, and I still get the black screen. I've also tried no kernel, and tiamat and still nothing :S

have u converted you filesystem to ext4?
btw, what rom was previous? stock one or custom?
and i recommend you to use 4ext recovery instead of CWM
I have to use CWM for now, since I don't have access to fastboot right now (i'll download it later), but how do I check if it's ext4 or not in CWM? And if its not, do you know how to make it ext4?
And i'm using CM7, not stock

if u have CM7 ur filesystem already converted )))
i think the reason of crashes on boots is old version of recovery. try to upgrade urs CWM or install the latest 4ext recovery
It's very easy to change CWm to 4ext: go to http://4ext.net/ and download 4EXT Recovery Updater, install it. With its help u will instal 4ext
Are you s-off?

I'm not S-OFF, but my bootloader is unlocked... i think it doesn't really matter much in this case if I have/can flash CM7 without issues
I'll try another version of CWM or try 4ext recovery tomorrow sometime

i'm afraid s-on is the reason of ur problems
I completely agree s-on does matter always.
I have the same problem on Quattro.
If you are s on you have to flash via fastboot the boot.img inside the Rom.zip from your wanted rom after flashing Rom via recovery.
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using xda premium
Indeed sniper is correct. However what I would do, get a rom working then look into becoming s-off. Its so much easier to mod your phone after.
Sent from my Incredible S using xda premium
Okay, thanks guys! I'll try it out later and see how it goes by flashing boot.img using fastboot.
Thanks guys, it works!
For people who come here looking for answers, basically just open the new ICS rom zip, extract boot.img, cd to that folder in cmd, and type:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
and it should now boot properly.

I had a issue with something on my SD card after i wiped my SD and tried the re install it worked.
let me know if that helped.
This is a CWM recovery for the Xperia T - you need to have unlocked your bootloader at http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/instructions.
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR BRICKING YOUR PHONE ETC. ETC. ETC. - I'm sure you've heard the rest before.
Steps for installation:
Download recovery from http://goo.im/devs/tilal6991/recoveries/mint/15102012.img
Download fastboot and get it into a place where you can run it - I'm not going to provide instructions how - guides are all over the place
Open a command window in the place where fastboot is
Copy the recovery.img to the fastboot folder
Type fastboot flash boot recovery.img
Type fastboot reboot
You will be in CWM!
Note:
The first time you install a ROM you will need to flash the boot.img of that ROM using fastboot - I'm hoping this restriction can be removed at a future date.
A CM port is also up - compiled by me.
Thanks to:
All the CM guys for having their code on Github - I didn't do anything but compile and figure out the instructions for flashing.
Hmm, so tempting but not sure since you've not tested it on the T. Someone else gonna go first?
EDIT: I am sorry, a bad assumption possibly. Have you tested this on a T?
I have. It's tested and working. I've flashed CyanogenMod and using it as a daily as well.
Will have my T today but I wonder how to access recovery in daily use? (undestood the 1st time access, but not the next accesses...)
backup and restore work?
Switch off phone.
Power on phone with volume down held.
And although I haven't tested there's nothing that indicates backup/restore won't work.
Sent from my Xperia T using Tapatalk 2
Hmm, the recovery just cycle boots into recovery mode. It never boots into system
As I said the first time you flash a ROM you will need to fast boot install the boot mage of the ROM.
Sent from my Xperia T using Tapatalk 2
So then you are forced to flash a rom after installing cwm?
Sent from my Xperia T
Yes. Since you are flashing the boot partition its a pseudo recovery so a ROM needs to be flashed.

I flashed this last night successfully. I couldn't get side-loading to work, but it's smooth otherwise. Have not tested backup / restore yet.
Additionally, FWIW, I then flashed the Paranoid Android ROM, and while I've got some issues with it, I didn't have to flash the boot.img from the ROM for the ROM to boot, so I am not sure if that is still required or not... or maybe that's what's causing my issues with the ROM?
Thanks for the recovery!

So this recovery has to be initially installed on the boot partition, but does it copy itself to the recovery partition on first boot or do you have to reflash it every time you want to switch from running a ROM to running the recovery?
Also, is a stock boot.img available anywhere (so that this recovery can be used for nandroid backups with the stock rom)?
Once I am finished with this recovery how do I turn the phone off?
SOLVED
Hold vol + and - and power button.
CWM on Xperia TX and screen is upside down

Is AROMA working in the recovery?

Hey guys,
when I tried flashing CWM on my new HTC One it just booted in normal mode over and over.
I tried every recovery-image available and it nerver worked.
While playing around I finally got it working without flashing the recovery image to the boot partition!
No need to copy root files and CFW files before flashing the recovery!
Instructions
Unlock your device at http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader/
Reboot into bootloader
> fastboot flash boot boot.img - thanx to Paul O'Brien
> fastboot reboot-bootloader
> fastboot flash recovery recovery.img - thanks to Flyhalf205
> fastboot erase cache
After this you should be able to enter recovery via bootloader or 'adb reboot recovery'.
The recovery image is CWM Touch 6.0.2.8 which worked great for me, didn't try the other ones right now.
I hope I could help
I had issues booting recovery if I used the All in One kit to flash recovery.
So people should flash it manually instead to avoid problems.

It is AROMA related, amarullz have to update the binary
You can flash it 3 times or more, should work.
You can also use Hardware Buttons instead of Touch.. will help as well.
Device still rebooting
Can't flash recovery
same here - no access to recovery so far
Same for me too
Why ?
Got a HTC One from Orange france, and NO RECOVERY seems to stick. That thing boots, but i cannot enter recovery
I've tried using the AiO-Kit to flash CWM touch and normal as well as TWRP as well as the two CWMs manually and then this method. Still can't get access to recovery though

Had the same problem again and again flashing TrickDroid on my HTC One (M7). Can confirm, that avoiding touch will relieve things but freezes can still occur. A few times I even could not reset the phone long-pressing the power + volume up buttons, means I was completely stuck on the frozen aroma screen (since a battery pull is not possible with this device). For anybody who may be in the same situation, try the "[FONT="Courier New]fastboot reboot[/FONT] command, this still came through and rebooted the device.
has this method worked for anyone else?
i'd like to try, but since i currently can't access recovery, i'm afraid to flash a new boot.img

Yes, worked for me. I had the same issue. While flashing Renovate rom, Aroma crapped out right at the end where it was installing the kernel. I was then stuck on boot image until i found this thread.
Also, for what it's worth, i thought I'd flash the boot image again after i got my device running again but it killed my wifi. I had to reflash the rom as wifi in settings was `out of order`....
//edit: okay. i've been able to reproduce the crashing. seems it's an aroma/rom issue (i couldn't tell one way or the other). what matters here is flashing boot image with the provided image does the trick. whatever magic it does, i'm able to flash cwm recovery 6.0.3.1 but I have to flash boot image before, else flashing recovery is fruitless.
anyways, thanks. this thread help me solve what i thought was `bricked` device.
OK here's the deal, I have my phones boot loader unlocked and its rooted, now I want to install cwm, on all my previous devices I did this through ROM manager but atm our device is not supported there. Don't give up just yet. It's worth it to get custom ROMs on your phone.
Do a search around the forums here and you'll find a custom build of a CWM based recovery by mattlgroff made for this phone. Flash that to recovery with fastboot and you should then be able to flash custom ROMs without fear of screwing up your phone.
You may also want to flash a stock firmware with RSD-Lite. (not the recovery!)
Some users have had issues with GPS not working until after you flash stock and then go to a custom ROM after getting a GPS fix on stock. I don't know if that is still necessary or not, but it's something to keep in mind.

Do I have to erase my stock recovery prior to flashing cwm?
Hi guys I downloaded CM 11 from cyanogenmod.org for the Atrix HD and when I try to download it I get the error ''Status 7'' with CWM Recovery. Have you guys been able to install it with the file from the web site?? Please help :crying:
Are you running the latest recovery?
Phil recovery iss more up to date then the cwm itself

Like I mention in every one of these threads, Status 7 is, at least 99% of the time, a bad download. Redownload and verify the MD5 checksum.
The MD5 for the official nightly is "513639551c586888db38bc9b17c7dab2". Use this program to verify the MD5 checksum.

Thank you. I just flashed that recovery and it worked.
I'm having the same problem with every single 4.4 and 4.4.x rom. I've tried removing the lines of code method already, running 6.0.2.8 cwm

4.4 needs the latest CWM to install. Try using Philz Touch Recovery or install the latest img from the Clockwork website.
I don't know if any of you guys solved your issues but you need to download cm11 onto external SD card then download philz touch version of cwm also on ESD card. Flash philz touch in your already existing cwm whatever version that may be. I forgot if it will boot back into recovery automatically but get back into recovery. If you are soft bricked get back in recovery by holding the power and vol up button I think and just flash rom as normal wipe data/cache/dalvik etc. That's how fixed my status 7 and flashed OSE 4.4.2 and loving it. Hope I helped.

So I was able to update my recovery but now every single rom that I try to flash ends up stuck at the motorola logo. I don't know what to do. I can still get into recovery but no rom works.

Nah, it's the dual core technology right before the animation for the startup. I posted a thread about the problem.

Try flashing Phil's Recovery, it should be version 6.0.4.5. Once I flashed Phil's I have not had a failed flash of any 4.4 Rom.
Here is the link in case you need it.

Maybe try going back to stock and starting over. Whenever I have strange problems like this and everything checks out, I revert to stock and start over.
