Z1 does not sleep (when on data) - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just wondering if everything is having the same issue (possibly kernel issue) where your Z1 does not sleep at night if it's not on wifi.
Mine is fine with wifi as it sleeps perfectly however when it is running on data (2g,3g or 4g) it just doesn't sleep.
I've tried few roms and the end result is the same so at this stage I can only conclude that our stock kernel does not let the phone sleep while on data.
Any thoughts or help?

In the settings>battery, what's keeping it awake?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app

Always Android OS (Kernel).
Just using current example.
SOT is 33 mins. Phone is awake for 2 hours and 17 minutes and Deep Sleep is 6 hours and 45 mins.

might wanna try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2382680
Mine was awake 100% until i disabled that.

This started happening to me 2 days ago, but not because of fast dormancy but because a wakelock called bam_dmux_wakelock
Its an app keeping 3g active all the time, i havent found which is it but i will

[Q] Deep Sleep

Hi Everyone
So, first of all im running cyanogenmod 7.1, tiamat 1.1.4 and s-off.
Two days ago I managed to get around 40 hours on a single charge because my phone went into deep sleep whenever I wasnt using it.
Yesterday I charged my phone and before i went to bed i was on 95% deep sleep, but when I woke up my phone had been running on 268Mhz all night. Now no matter what I do or what apps I close I cant get it to deep sleep. I have CPU spy installed hence why I know. I have not changed a thing about my phone between the 2-3 days.
So if anybody can help me figure out why it will not deep sleep that would be great. Failing that im thinking the only way to make it deep sleep is to throw it at the wall?
Thanks
Vizzy
If you rebooted your phone your going to have to bring up setcpu and any uv app you might have to reset your governor to your desired parameters.
I didn't reboot my phone? ...but ok I've downloaded setCPU so how do I go about refreshing everything to make it sleep?

Just set the variables in set cpu main screen than add a screen off profile with the max at 226 and min at 168 and it should deep sleep. Reset your cpuspy and battery usage stats. Than turn screen off for 10 minutes check cpuspy and battery usage to see what happened during your screen off. Report back if all is not well.

Deep sleep issues on all roms?

So far with testing battery on all roms, including stock, the phone hardly ever goes into deep sleep. Here is what I have so far on bell stock with arrrgh's kernel.
All roms seem to have the wake spasms.

Do you use Facebook or social media apps? They're known for keeping phones from entering deep sleep. I could speculate more, but only because there are quite a few apps out there that can give the problems you're having. Usually ad heavy apps.
PAC, with just the rom and gapps, has no issues with deep sleep. Carbon didn't either. Wasn't on carbon for very long, but the stats reflected my screen off times. I'd post a screenshot, but its been on the charger since boot, and they don't deep sleep when charging.
I do but I honestly expected smart actions' data limit to prevent that. Would turning their sync off fix that?
Edit: just tried disabling Facebook sync and still have wake spasm.
Edit 2: just bought better battery stats and over a 1 hour 43 minute period, 46% was deep sleep. What does the awake bar in battery stats in settings mean then?

Battery drain problem

Hey guys,
from about two months I am a proud owner of a 4x. I really like the phone but I am having serious battery issues. It did not take long for me to get CM 10.1.2 Stable. The main reason was the bad battery life of stock 4.1.2. However, the problems continued in CM as well. I have baseband wakelocks, wlan_rx_wake wakelocks and whenever I leave network location on I get nlp wakelocks as well. I tried Werewolf, iodak and Optimus Prime kernels. Not one of them seemed to resolve the problems. I had a lot of faith in werewolf 8b, but unfortunately it rarely goes beyond the LG logo and when it does I do not get network signal. Can any of you guys recommend what to do to get a decent battery life out of my phone. I do not expect miracles from a 4.7" quad-core phone but I'd like to be able to go through a whole day without having to charge it. I rarely get more than 2 hours of screen on time.
Thanks in advance!

One more battery thread. This gonna be a guiness world record ! Most battery threads in one forum !

Then I will be glad to have contributed to this record! Joking aside though, can you tell me in which version of CM are the new RIL/baseband changes implemented? Are they in 10.1.3 or just the 10.2 nightlies?

Try slim bean (4.3) port for our phone... Used to last average 4 hours of screen time with max 700 mhz cpu and interactive governor, which was more than enough for texting and some light games, and also use greenify to freeze those pain in the ass apps always awakening the phone... Download bbs or somthing and post the results, if you want, so you let us know !
I use BBS to track usage. This night I did an experiment. I charged the phone before I went to sleep and left it with wi-fi on. After exactly 10 hours the battery was at 42%...The strange thing is that it was in deep sleep over 8 hours and there is nothing strange in BBS. I will do this one more time just to check that it was not a one-time thing and post the dump file. With the wi-fi off (and data off), the phone can idle for hours without loosing a single % of battery.

i have encountered similar error - my device does go to sleep, but if i leave wifi on, the drain is pretty sick, around 5% per hour (and yeah, the phone was sleeping like 90% of the time)

Same here, 89% deep sleep and exactly 6% per hour. That is enormous, this means that during the day (12h) you lose 72% of battery without even touching the phone...After all with a smartphone it is expected to keep wi-fi on during the day. Have you found a solution to that problem?

none as of yet. switching kernels may or may not help, roms too. nowadays i only use wifi when needed and have data on for push notifications.

That's weird , I only get 3% per hour but using data. I get 10% in 8 hours using WiFi+data. 5% in 8 hours using WiFi only.

Galaxy Note Stock (4.1.2- Rooted) Shuts down in night when trying to go deep sleep

Hi All,
Facing a problem with my Galaxy Note on 4.1.2 (rooted). Phone shuts down in night, most probably when android tries to go deep sleep. Actually by checking the apps log like system panel / Battery monitor widget, it looks like android struggles to go deep sleep and shuts down. I tried to reformat the SD card (32GB class 10) to over come this issue. But no avail. Still facing this issue. In day time it goes to deep sleep rarely.
Please help.
Regards,
Karthi
It could be wakelock apps.. download wakelock detector from google play and deactivate any app causing wakelock
Who do you mean? Phone goes automatically off in the night? Due to battery discharge or sleep of death?
Sent from my GT-I9500 using xda premium
Tried wakelock app also. No abnormal activity.
Thanks.

Automatically shuts down at night. Not due to low battery ( but considerable amount of drain will be there).
Thanks.
Try a clean install of JB ROM and retest. If still the same there could be some motherboard issues.

Issue solved!
Hi All,
Thanks for the suggestion/help. It seems like the issue is with MicroSD (even though it is just 3 months old). So bought a branded one and replaced it with that. Now no more sleep of death or frequent shutdown.
Thanks.:victory::good:

[Q] Battery issue at work

So when im at work my battery drains extremely fast no matter what I do its goes to 20 present and when im at home a it only goes down to about 80 present. I have tried everthing wifi is off I have even put it in airplane mode but it still drains quicker at work. Any thoughts
How much are you on it at work vs at home?
Is it possible that the screen is staying on in your pocket and you don't know?
I can go 12 hours at work with about 2 hours screen on time and still be at 75% when I get home.
