HI guys,
I dropped my Xperia Z, and now a part of my screen is unresponsive. It only is about 1 cm on the right border, so not a big issue. However, all the overflow buttons and the Ingess OPS button can not be touched anymore.
To solve this, I wanted to emulate a touch at (950, 150), where the buttons are. This works from a terminal emulator with "input tap 950, 150", but as the terminal emulator needs to be running in the foreground that does not help.
Does anyone have an idea or knows an app which could do that? I imagine a button floating in the foreground (like chat heads and button savior and others) which runs a script when touched.
any help is greatly appreciated!
[EDIT]: Solved it with a tasker app and SwypePad
(The pic is furthest right I can go on the screen. No, it's not enough to open the OPS menu)

I'm using a snes emulator but having trouble. I can use the volume keys as A & B which is what I want, but whenever I catch the middle d-button while pressing volume-up, it closes the emulator and launches the touchscreen alignment app! Anyone know how to disable this shortcut? Have searched but turning up nothing...
I'd like to know this too... anyone have any ideas?
Bump....
Bump....Bump....Bump....
On my Fuze, I constantly hit the home button when trying to hit the left key, and is driving me nuts. Does anyone have any options for me to try? I'm even willing to disable the dang thing. Just don't know how.
I find very few reasons to hit the d pad keys, other than maybe up/down. Use your swipe gestures on the screen for left/right for most purposes... That's my best advice.
You can try G-Scroll, with that you just swipe you fingers on the touch panel at the bottom to move left, right, up, down and you can also launch apps
the problem is when I do have to use the d-pad. like a game that i'm playing "Peggle" it is very annoying when the game exits and I have to navigate to find the game shortcut, or use task manager. either way it happens all the time.
Can I use g-scroll in all applications?

I think, but I cost money
The Dpad is VERY annoying. My idea (which doesn't seem very popular) is to unmap the functions of the Home and Back button presses completely so they don't interfere with the dpad.
So we don't lose our Home and Back buttons, I suggested remapping the functions to the Home-HOLD and Back-HOLD functions.
This way the only time you actually would go home would be if you press and held the button for a second.
Unfortunately I don't think this is possible right now. The only way to remap the keys is via AEButtonPlus, which works but is clunky and has to run all the time. I'd much rather see a real remap
Or you can use DredSensor...
Before you think i'm crazy let me explain why i want it.
I want to be able to hold my nook however i want with out the fear i might turn the page by accident. Where it my be my fingers touching the screen, the sheets or cookie crumbs.
So, im looking for an app that will disable the touch screen and can be linked to a hardware button(any turn page button, probably the left ones as i use those the least) whether by script of done by the app itself.
CoolReader have a possibility to disable touchscreen while reading. It can be assigned to some of the page-turning buttons - press a button, double press or long press.
I tried some tool called Screen tools 1 and i manage to "disable" touch but it would disable the buttons as well. I'll try coolreader, thanks for the tip
I love the idea of softkeys. With it you can put bigger screens on smaller devices and they can disappear whenever needed to.
The main problem is that it's a 50/50% chance that they will disappear when I think that they should. With physical keys that's never an issue.
Movies, yes
Games, yes
Full screen applications, yes
etc.
What determines when the keys disappear and not? Is it up to the app creator? What can I do about it (I'm not rooted)?
They can't always disappear in full screen games. If the game needs a back button you would be stuck.
I assume there is something in there that tells it. Much like if an app does not have an on screen menu button (usually three dots), a menu button will be added to the lower right side of the portion of the screen where the soft keys are.
It's not there for all apps, only ones that don't have a menu button on screen. Not sure if this is declared by the app or if 4.4 can detect it somehow and show the button when needed.

On my tablet (running 4.1) I get these dots you are talking about (but not in the lower right corner, they replace the ordinary softkeys)). That's all fine because they take less space (from what I remember) then the ordinary softkeys.
If it all comes down to having a back button in the app, why not implement that in the app?
I downloaded crazy taxi yesterday and those softkeys are annoying me as hell.
I ended up getting used to using LMT and just turn on expanded desktop to make the navigation keys go away. That way if LMT gives me any trouble...I just hit the power button and turn off expanded desktop and my navigation keys are back. (Gravity box to get that option in power menu.)
Hated pie at first...but used to it now.

Hi Everyone,
I am using HTC One (M7) unrooted that was recently upgraded to Android Lollipop 5.0.2 and I started noticing a black button with three white dots appearing on my screen when I enter certain apps. Tapping it would just toggle the settings menu in the app. Double tapping it wouldn't do anything. Press hold would enable me to move the button to anywhere I like on the screen.
I have no use for it since I have it set up from my Settings that I would open the settings menu by long pressing my Home button. Does anyone also know of this, and if so, how do I remove it? I attached a screen shot for your reference (look at top right corner). Thanks in advance!
I'm interested in finding a solution to this too. No luck in the default.xml, at least for search terms "overflow" and "menu". MaximusHD 52.0, 5.0.2
Confirming this is really annoying & I'd like to know if there is a way to get rid of it?
Hi, I've got the same with galaxy s6 edge and android 5.0.2
It seems that only apps without direct implementation of the android three dots menu have this problem.
Could somebody help please ?
floating button
Same here. Irritating whilst using Mobo Player
The only way you are gonna get rid of it is to hide it in the app itself. With less and less phone with buttons the more you will see this.
Solution
I found myself frustrated at this myself today.
The solution is to go to Settings > Display > Buttons > Home and change "press and hold" from Google Now to Menu.
That removes the button from all apps, and you can just hold the home button to access the menu for those apps that need it.
