[Q] Problem with fastboot, trying to get unlock data - Moto X Q&A

This is what comes up when I try to get my unlock data via fastboot (I inserted X's in the middle of the #'s to protect my info). When I copy and paste it into the Motorola site it says my phone isn't eligible to unlock but it is a T Mobile phone so it should be eligible, right? I watched a YouTube video on getting the unlock data and his had the word "bootloader" before each line of numbers. Anyone know what I might be doing wrong? Thanks

If I were you I would remove the info for your sake. The instructions are clearly set out on the Motorola site, sometimes it takes a few days for moto to register newly made phones which causes a delay

Thanks, I altered it. I actually thought I was doing something wrong so I was getting the wrong data. I'll wait a few days and try again.

Every phone has an individual fastboot code, so if someone tried and used your code, well you both would be out of luck, 1 fast boot code ,1 unlocking code

Make sure u remove the INFO and new lines, the unlock data should be 1 string of text on 1 line and without the INFO or fastboot or anything else.

I did remove the "INFO." And I put it in one line (and took out the spaces). But there wasn't anything that said "fastboot."

[Q] Unable to unlock phone

So, basically, I got a new pay-as-you-go SIM and I don't want to buy a new phone for it. I was looking for methods to unlock my current galaxy ace, it's rooted and I have a custom ROM on it- The Ultimatum by The "A" Factor. I got my unlock codes and put the SIM in expecting to get a screen saying phone is locked, please put in unlock code or something similar that usually happens. However nothing came up but when the phone finished booting, I had no service and can't use it for calls or anything which suggests that the phone is still locked, I tried using the *#7465525# service code, but I got an error saying no service or incorrect MUDI code or something like that. Is it possible that flashing a new ROM wiped the unlocking procedures and is there anyway for me to know if my phone is unlocked and if not, can I still unlock it?

Didn't show you nothing to introduce the code?¿
... try introducing another SIM from other carrier... when you boot then automatically should ask you to introduce the unlock code
If it doesn't work you could phone to the device's carrier, the carrier must help you if you finished your contract

I do have another SIM from another carrier, but the screen isn't showing up, I've been scouring the internet and found http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1335548 , turns out it won't show because of my ROM, so I'll have to switch to stock like you said, before I do that though I'll try that code he said at the end to see if it will unlock. Thanks :good:

Ooooh... That's tough. The only place I've heard of any kind of fix is in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/relock-bootloader-time-updating-to-5-1-t3053497
But, I don't think your situation applies... You're probably SOL.
There's no fix. You can try fastboot format cache and fastboot format userdata. If that doesn't work, there's no fix.

I wouldn't yet. Someone may eventually find a fix. But yes, you're going to need a new phone in the meantime.
Just a random thought; so what is covered by warranty? Say an internal connection was to get detached and the phone just won't power up, I think that would probably be something they may honor and replace the phone. I would not go back to the same place you tried to have it fixed, I would contact Motorola direct.
Again just a thought without thinking through all the scenarios nor with any thought of the morality of it.

He probably locked the bootloader and had oem-unlock disabled in developer options, and now he can`t flash anything and the phone has no OS.

The crap part would be if someone finds a fix after the phone is damaged. But, before you do anything, make the call.
I see many many threads regarding how to get free tethering, so I don't feel this is too out of place. Again, everyone has to work out for themselves whats right for them.

I'm thinking abt getting a n6. Can u elaborate a little more? Wouldn't "unlocked disabled" mean locked, so that phrase would mean the same as a locked bootloader which he did?

Since 5.1, you need "enable OEM unlock" set in settings to unlock the bootloader. If it is not set, you cannot unlock the bootloader. It only stays set until you boot up.
So some people update then immediately lock the bootloader. Then their phone won't boot so they cannot set "enable OEM unlock" so they're screwed.

So when I get my n6, I just need a laptop to root, and not to unlock boot loader? Since I can just go into settings and check "enable unlock bootloader?

You have to enable oem-unlock after every boot, it will not stick after a reboot.

No. The "enable OEM unlock" setting allows you to boot to the bootloader, connect to a pc and use the "fastboot oem unlock" command to unlock the bootloader.

I think we're confusing the issue. It doesn't need to stay ticked. All it stops you doing is unlocking the bootloader. Once the bootloader is unlocked, its unlocked.
The only reason you'll need to tick it is if you relocked the bootloader and then wanted to unlock it again. But this is dangerous because if your ROM breaks and you're locked, you cannot then unlock.

With OTA should be fine.. If something goes wrong during ota thats covered by warranty, but i was impatient to wait for it, so i did for my self over USB thats not covered by warranty like when u **** up something with root permissions.. This method is not the original updating method. but its a bit confusing because this was an official google suggested method (https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images) Terms of use, i accepted hurray!

[Q] Thoughts on unlocking bootloader on locked nexus 6

I bought a nexus 6 and it is locked with the anti theft thing...cant get ahold of the seller and it doesnt show his info on the nexus at all. anyways does anyone have any thoughts on bypassing it ? I did try to sign into mine and it does sign and checks for update and then immediately signs out. Maybe a modified DNS server ? I also did try to reset it ..no lucky, also tried to flash android 5.0 but says boot loader needs to be unlocked. Is there a way to unlock boot loader without doing it in settings ? I did also try to fastboot oem unlock but says to do it in settings. I was thinking maybe modifying the stock image and go into the build prompt and change the value of the start up wizard to remove it but then the bootloader thing gets in the way. Someone help

Need to be unlocked. Can't unlock if can't get to settings. That the whole theory of the security. Need that password. If you even reset without deleting your account and change your password can't get back in for 3 days with your own account..

Unlocking questions

Hi everyone,
I'm having problems with the unlock page. After a bunch of searches, I just have more questiions.
1) It keeps saying 'Please input correct name'.
I can log into the forums - my username is wanfr01.
I'm fairly sure that's the name I'm supposed to use on the unlock application page.
Any idea what the problem is?
2) Is there a place to e-mail/post for an unlock request if the main unlock page isn't working?
3) Anything in particular I should give as a reason, or shouldn't give? Can I just say I want to install TWRP to make backups? (which is basically true)
- Frank
Are you sure your phone is locked?
go here to verify it isn't locked first http://en.miui.com/thread-279195-1-1.html
I thought mine was locked but someone mentioned the phones come unlocked if you buy from a retailer so YMMV.
Try using your phone # (11231234567) then on the left of it change the number to 1 if you're in the USA or your country code and delete the 1. Or, use your name without any spaces. Another trick is to login to the forums and then go to the unlock site. http://en.miui.com/unlock/

By your numbers...
1) I was also confused by that field for name. Tried my name and tried Mi Mix ... don't recall which worked but just tired a few times and it eventually worked. It may be one of those page has the refresh on any 'mistake' things so try that.
2) Xiaomi mentions where to post if you don't get the code in X days, if it keeps acting up for you try that.
3) I put 'so I can root phone and customize to my liking' and was approved. No idea if there is a check on this.

Actually, I don't have the phone yet. It's on the way.
I could have swore some people on xda got their unlock "permission" prior to receiving their phone.
Since it can take a bit to get the unlock permission, I thought I would get the ball rolling.
I guess I'm wrong - I'll just wait to get the phone. Hopefully it's unlocked already.
Thanks!

If your phone has a vendor installed ROM then it's unlocked. Did you select or was there an option to have Play Store installed for you by the vendor you bought it from.

Second you must download adb and fastboot to your pc.
Third with adb flash twrp.
And last flash supersu with tuttorial from xda .
Keep walking.
Thanks. Any chance you can attach links for downloads for PC and also files. If u can add tutorials I can follow those too. I have rooted couple times before but if I do the moto that's my actual phone and I don't want to mess it up. Will it mess with my plan or screw me over in any way? I've only done phones I don't use.

How do i unlock my bootloader or whatever it is? (link didnt work for me)
What is flash?(i think install)
it says my device does not qualify to unlock bootloader. so yea I don't want to give up but that killed my hopes. I can get into fasboot flash mode and have boot mode selection menu and it says device is still locked. I got the link to work and used fastboot oem get_unlock_data used their program to have same layout for unlock code and it says your device does not qualify for bootloader unlocking. if anyone can help thanks

Some variants of the Moto X 2014 cannot be unlocked. Put the phone in Bootloader Mode and:
fastboot getvar all
Copy and save all the info into a Notepad file, then go to the Moto/Lenovo Forums here:

First unlock bootloader and install twrp.
All other you can flash them from the twrp recovery and i mean supersu and many more.
From adb can flash stock rom clean.
