Phone Gets to Setup and Reboots - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The phone is a brand new HTC One. After unlocking the bootloader, flashing TWRP 2.6.3.3, rooting it, and flashing a rom (tried insert coin and Sinless), the phone gets past the HTC logo, past the Google logo (Google edition rom), shows setup for a second, and reboots. It would do this until the battery dies. I can get into recovery fine, and do anything other than boot the rom. I've tried multiple roms, multiple recoveries, etc. What should I do? Thanks for any help!

Can you issue fastboot erase cache in bootloader and do a wipe data in recovery before booting?

Did both. We wiped the phone completely as well and did it from scratch and it has the exact problem.

You need to be S-Off to run any google edition roms. Listed on the first post of both sinless and arhd GE thread.

So do you think it will work if we use a Sense rom?
Also can you get S-Off in my situation? How so?
I'm new to this. Thanks for your help. I really appreciate it.

Better question: can we expect run Rumrunner without a functional OS?

You should be on sense based rom for Soff, or ATT nandroid or backup. Reinstall ATT RUU if one available, or adb push a rom in recovery

Feeling really dumb for not trying a Sense rom. One just worked. Thanks for your help!

[Q] Stuck in bootloop

Hi All,
I tried installing CM11 using CM installer in my HTC One(M7). I wanted to try this and didnt like much, so tried restocking the Stock OS using RUU. Unfortunately the RUU update threw an error 155.
I realized I had used a wrong RUU file. Now the Phone was stuck on HTC logo.
I tried to reload CM11 with CM installer. It got stuck in CM boot screen.
So I tried to restock another ROM using adb sideload command (My CWM was accessible). But that was a Google edition ROM and my S-ON was on. So again it is stuck in the Google boot screen.
I have tried almost all the options that I searched in XDA/youtube.
I know I am missing out some key things.
Request you all to help me to get out of this.

You're AT&T so you need a stock RUU from AT&T.
And for your question try fastboot flash boot boot.img

OP, update TWRP, get TWRP from:
2.6.3.3: http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7
or 2.6.3.4: http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7ul
(make sure MD5 is correct, that site does not play nice with download managers)
I also think 2.7.1.2 works but i haven't tested it personally: http://mdmower.cmphys.com/twrp-m7/
in bootloader/FASTBOOT USB:
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.3-m7.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader

Since there is no RUU for your phone, you will need someone who has a nandroid backup. What you would normally do would be to install a custom recovery and push a stock rom or custom rom to your phone. Unfortunately, I can not find either. Do you know anyone with a similar phone? If so, you might ask them to make a nandroid backup.
Have you tried to install the custom recovery for your phone? You will need to unlock your bootloader to flash it.
Sorry, not much help!

You should still be able to unlock your bootloader, I would give it a try.
The CWM custom recovery might work, I'm not so certain about the nandroid backup. The nandroid is an older version of your phone and since you are S-ON there may be some issues.
You might try the custom recovery to see if it will boot into recovery or OS without flashing the nandroid.

Unlock your bootloader the same way you did first time. Flash the Unlock_code.bin you got from HTCdev.com
Code:
fastboot flash unlock token Unlock_code.bin

[Q] Stuck in boot loop after HTC1GURU reset

I wanted to GPE my HTC One m7. Having HBoot 1.57 made things a bit hard. I tried Moonshine, Revone, Firewater and Rumrunner, with no luck.
I decided I would pay for SunShine, but I needed a working system first. The various versions of the aforementioned tools were tested on a variety of roms and versions, which probably made this a real mess.
I ended up using this guide to get back to stock rom with stock recovery. (Apparently I am too noob to post links :-/ Here was a link to HTC1Guru "Reset to Stock for S-On")
It works. However, after applying the hotfix for a new system update, and rebooting, dowloading and installing the new update (4.4.3), I get stuck in a boot loop. My bootloader is unlocked, and I can flash a recovery. Booting up recovery while in this boot loop state gives me the phone with a red triangle warning sign on it.
My phone is S-On, HBoot 1.57, bought in Europe, using the *.*.401.* ROMs.
I've tried installing the stock 4.2.2 ROM twice and then applying update, no success. Any ideas on what I can do to get back to a stock phone, not in a boot loop?
Thanks in advance.

The reason it's bootlooping is because the updates that you are downloading are trying to update your hboot, but because you are already on the latest hboot they are failing.
Could you post your fastboot getvar all please without the imei and serial numbers please.

Ok, first thing is first, you will need twrp 2.6.3.3 recovery on your phone, once that's done, push or sideload the Rom linked below, it's full stock Rom 6.09.401.12 so just one above yours, then flash it like any other Rom.

[Q] Soft Bricked (M7)

Here's the problem: Booting into system brings me into Teamwin, and factory reset also gets into Teamwin.
More details:
Bootloader says "Tampered", "Unlocked", "S-On"
So previously, I thought myself smarter and tried to unlock it and install Android Revolution HD. The unlock succeeded, but the Android Revolution HD install did not. I was forced to factory reset it back to stock Android, but with an unlocked bootloader and rooted. This lasted until a few days ago when the stock system constantly asked me if I wanted to update the system. The problem is, everytime I selected "Install Now", it wouldn't update, but would bring me back to the Teamwin system. So then I got fed up, and tried to install the Android Revolution HD again. I wiped the cache and everything. The issue now, is that it won't boot into any system and factory reset from bootloader brings me to the Teamwin page, still.
I've tried copying the ARHD boot.img back into the phone via "fastboot boot boot.img", but that still doesn't work. So I'm all out of ideas now. All I want now, is a working system. Even better if I can go back to stock stock, like as if when I just bought it from the store so I don't have to bother with all these hassles.
Help, please!

A factory reset won't restore your system magically, it only wipes /data (user data). If your system (/system) is messed up, wiping /data won't change anything.
I've tried copying the ARHD boot.img back into the phone via "fastboot boot boot.img", but that still doesn't work.

You don't need to flash boot.img manually on the M7, its flashed with the rom.

remove your IMEI and SERIALNO, never post these numbers.
2 reasons why the rom won't work
the recovery used to flash it is too old, you need at least 2.6.3.3 and latest version is 2.8.7.0
You might need to update your firmware
If you want to return stock, relock your bootloader and flash the 7.19.980.5 ruu
file and instruction here

HTC One (m7), S-ON, HTCDev UNLOCKED, TWRP installed, ROM/OS NOT detected/bootable

Hey,
long story short, a friend has an old HTC One m7. We revived it from beeing deeply discharged. It was in a bootloader loop.
OS version is NOT shown in the bootloader, no matter which ROM is installed. So we started repairing the system. First I unlocked the bootloader via HTCDev, then flashed TWRP(phone is without branding and S-ON).
This works quite fine. The first problem then was a corrupted storage, which showed a capacity of 2,2 exaByte. Wiping, formatting did not work. So I changed the filesystem and back and then i could wipe, format and the storage capacity was correct again.
No matter which ROM I will flash, if Android 4.4, Android 6.0 or 7.0 and so on, nothing works.
Lineage and some others get stuck at "starting apps", some other just have the boot animation forever.
Only Omni Rom boots into the system, but then i crashes always after a couple of seconds.
I tried also Nandroid backup restores or flash the rom with or without GApps and so on.
I have no idea what to do else. Can anyone help?
Summary:
HTC One (m7)
S-ON
Bootloader HTCDev unlocked
HBOOT-1.61.0000
TWRP 3.2.1-0
ADB Sideload Service inside TWRP not starting
normal ADB commands ARE working
fastboot mode is working
OS Version / OS not detected, not installable, not bootable (no matter which one)

Did you tried flashing a RUU?
Can you post the output of "fastboot getvar all" so we can know the exact state of the phone. Don't forget to remove the imei and serialno lines before posting

the problem with the RUU's is, that when I do
Code:
fastboot getvar version-main
no version is shown, so
I don't know which RUU to choose.
Code:
Fastboot>fastboot getvar all

Use the 7.19.401.51 ruu
Don't forget to use htc_fastboot.exe instead of fastboot.exe (see the ruu thread in the general section)

Sunshine is required for hboot 1.57 or higher, so the answer is no.
