[Q] Tasker to unlock the screen - Moto X Q&A

I am new to Tasker...so please forgive me if this sounds silly.
I heard that one can unlock the screen when one connects to home wifi or trusted wifi. I tried to do it by connecting to my home wifi and enable keyguard off from the Display section. It simply does not work.
I also tried to follow the instructions from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2562909&highlight=tasker
Frankly I do not have any clue how it is done...meaning, I do not know how to set up with my wifi connection. Can someone help me out and teach me step by step please? Thanks!

Never mind, I found a way to work...do not know about the 20 seconds rule though...anyway it works. Here is a clip if you want to set it up.

Auto-switch between wi-fi and network app?

Hi everyone @XDA,
I'm wondering if there's any application or workaround that will let my phone auto switch between network and wi-fi.
At the moment, I have to do these 7 steps before I leave home/office:
Step 1: Pick up phone
Step 2: Click trackbutton or power to turn it on
Step 3: Drag down screen lock
Step 4: Enter pattern lock key
Step 5: Tap 'Wi-fi' icon to switch off wifi
Step 6: Tap 'Network' icon to switch on network
Step 7: Open door and leave
I want to do it all in 1 step:
Step 1: Pick up phone, coffee and leave (with all the other stuffs running in the background)
Perhaps a workaround that can remember a particular wi-fi profile (ie. Home, etc) to connect, and if I lose that range, then it will automatically switch on the network data plan I have.
I'm guessing that this kind of app/workaround will be running in the background and it'll be great if it isn't too battery consuming.
Thank you everyone, I hope this thread may be useful to some of you too.

You need tasker you can set it up to turn WiFi and or mobile network on or off by gps location
Sent from my HTC Liberty using XDA App
Thanks for the response eljefe27.
The solution you provided would require GPS to be on at all times, am I right? I think that would be battery consuming right? Perhaps something more like, the phone would recognize saved wi-fi settings/locations/name — then switches to mobile network once it is out of range.
By the way I'm quite interested to get to know tasker, would you please provide a link or thread that discusses tasker? I tried searching but couldn't find any.
Thanks again!

You want this: auto wifi toggle
You can also use the long-press wifi toggle, if you want a one press manual method.

yeah gps has to be on but you can also also set up profiles to do what you need depending on what time it is
I prefer droid wall. Not only does it help pass off from wifi to network data seamlessly, but you can also select which apps you want to access the network and which ones you done. Thus you can allow apps like xda, opera mini, browser, and google voice search to run over 3g when you aren't in wifi range but prevent data heavy apps like pandora from screwing you if you accidentally leave it open or something. Then you can set droid wall to automatically allow all apps to access the net when connected over wifi. Not sure if this is quite what you're looking for, but it suites my needs very well.

Adhoc Wifi work around with Setting Profiles Lite

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=868354
After the above fix. your will notice issue reconnecting when wifi sleeps and comes back on.
Below is what I did to fixed it by installing Setting Profiles lite .
It worked really well.
1. install Setting Profiles Lite from Markets
2. Setup a profile call it anything, setup only one action to turn off Wifi.
3. Go to Rules. and setup a rule to active when Screen is on.
4. Click on Invert. It will activate the profile when screen is off.
5. setup action on the rule with the profile you just created.
When the computer is on, the wifi will automatically turns back on if you wait 5 sec. At least it works for me.
I believe some one else suggested it in the other thread first. I thought I post my experience to help others who have the same issue.
If this is a repost, let me know. I will delete this thread.

Looking for app - disable lock when connected to specific SSID

I thought a while back I saw an application on the Market that would enable or disable the lock screen based on what SSIDs the device could see. I thought this would be a good idea for my Android devices, since I'm usually either at home or at work, and both places have WiFi. It would be bothersome to have to enter a lock code every time I want to use a device, but would be great to require that if I'm away from home.
I know I saw an app that does this, but for the life of me, I cannot find it!
Edit: Should clarify, it doesn't disable the lock screen, it disables the passcode - basically when it sees particular SSIDs, it disables the passcode. Then when you're not in range of those SSIDs, the passcode is required.
Yep, I was looking for this too and found your post. Then I remembered something I'd seen before:
www.symonds.id.au/marcopolo/
There's a link on that page for a modified version of it for Snow Leopard, you'll need to get it if you want to lock/unlock your PC based on your AP's MAC/essid and run 10.6.
Let us know how well it works for you! I'm using it for a simple case: keeping my computer locked at work, unlocked at home.

Wifi Issue

I recently followed instructions from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s6/development/g920aucu2aof3-to-of4-flashfire-update-t3181135. All is well besides wifi will not auto connect after a reboot. Once rebooted, it takes about 10-15 seconds for wifi to turn on and requires to manually connect to a network. Once connected, it stays connected until a reboot. I have searched and came up with nothing related to this. Thanks for any insight.
I just had the same problem and to fix it i had to edit my build prop. You just need to change something from true to false or vice versa. If you still need directions let me know and ill post how to do and what to do.Its a very simple fix

Sorry forgot about posting till now. You need to edit your build prop. I'll attach a screenshot of what you need to edit. You just need to change from true to false and reboot. You should only have to put the passwords in 1 more time and then they will stay. If you need anymore help let me know.
Just what I needed, Thanks!

Airplane mode on when in specific location

Hello,
Would someone be kind enough to post instructions on this please (like I'm a 6 year old - I'm 50 . I have a non-rooted S9 on Oreo.
Thanks for any help.

Actually, it would also be ok to have airplane mode automatically switch on whenever I connect to my home network. Whichever is easier really.

Thanks. Unfortunately that doesnt give me step by step instructions on how to enable wifi mode once I connect to my home network (without then disabling home network). I wasnt joking when I said it needed to be for a 5 year old
When it comes to determining ones location, often a good idea to explore would be to use two different sized auto location geo fences and cross-reference them.
So actually I need Tasker to change from 2G to 4G when leaving a certain location. Is that possible and would someone be kind enough to give me step by step instructions
Alternatively, if its easier could Tasker make 4G go to 2G when my home wifi is activated. Both scenarios achieve the same thing.
Thanks for any help.
The best choice to disable/enable airplane mode without root into Samsung Galaxy is through Routine (Good Lock 2018 plugin) or Bixby Routines
