I'm still within the 14 day purchase and want to return my note 3. The problem is I rooted and got the custom status padlock. I've tried every single way to fix it posted on this forum and google. Aside from the root problem I can not deal with the wifi issues and low earpiece during phone calls that I've been getting. Can anybody here point in the right direction. I have full root access and running MJ5.
The goal is to hardbrick and not let the custom status screen turn on.
Any help is appreciated thanks guys.

Yes sir, I rooted with Kingo. I was on MJ5, i accidently took the OTA when i connected to Wifi. This is the only method that worked for me. Like Potatoman said, complete the procedure and padlock will erase and everything will be squeaky clean like the day you opened the phone box.

Like alot of people said in other posts I am experiencing not being able to get into recovery mode via the 3 button combo.when it comes to rooting I was wondering how important it was. I'm new to android and unless I'm not mistaken, there are other methods to rooting.however I'm more concerned if something goes wrong, I want to make sure I can get things back to normal and not be bricked. Also, when the froyo update comes out I'm going to want to revert to stock. To people who are experienced at rooting, how necessary is it. If it is I will return it, but I'm worried the one I will get will have gps issues and so far mine has been lucky enough to have gps work almost flawlessly.

i personally dont know how necessary it is but, all i know is you can side load apps like roms so u can play the emulators they have such as sega genesis and what not. also you will be able to get the apps we normally cant get in the android market such as: super mario wallpaper, tethering, and many other 3rd party apps that are available that we cannot get. i dont know all of them. but comming from a jailbroken iphone jailbreaking the captivate is way more difficult. android is not as user friendly when it comes to the technical geek stuff. my captivate is a week old now
but i think you should wait on the froyo then wait to see if they come out with a one click root method for 2.2, which they probally will. i was close to rooting mine but it seems a little bothersome to convert it back to stock. so i would just hold off till froyo
Yea, I'm just thinking I should than exchange my cappy for one that will go into recovery mode via the button combo.I'm not very experienced in rooting but from what I understand if you can't you have more of a chance in bricking the phone. Not sure though.

Nope, not worth s shot, if you can't boot into recovery, how do you plan to apply the root, you need recovery mode for this. Unless you plan to use ADB everytime. Eventually your phone will brick without being able to use the key combo method. To me it isn't worth taking the chance.

i stood there, told me the store manager i would like to keep trying the other phones. since a sim card is not needed for the phone to boot to recovery it will not void their "warrenty pre sim card"

Yea I guess I should exchange it. Hopefully it won't take abunch of phones to get one that will, and if it does, hopefully they will let me test til I get it right. Anyone know if this is just something samsung just started on later date phones that were made to stop people from trying to root? I'm not sure how phone companies view phone rooting.

Yes, definitely exchange your phone. Also, I would test this function in store until you get one that works. From what I have read, it seems like there was a bunch of phone made during the week of 8-10-2010 thru about 8-14-2010 that had a hardware defect. There's another thread in the boards somewhere that people who can't use 3 button recovery post their build dates, and all so far fell into that build week.
I wouldn't even begin to mod my phone if I didn't have access to recovery or download mode by using buttons. If you rely on adb you are out of luck if you soft brick it.
Of course I'm going to try to test in store. How do I check the news manufacturing date?

So ive now returned that faulty cappy, and have one that will goto into recovery mode. Although, the gps definitely, seems as if it won't even get a fix. Well, last night my NS4 was bricked... Running Rasbean + trinity 109 I was performing an antutu benchmark and the device just powered off. Could not get it back on and only shows the red led. Tried everything that was available on the net (fastboot, flash stock images, 312321 button combinations etc.). I'm going to set up an RMA and already spoke to a Google rep. Since I ordered through a friend in the UK the RMA must ship there. Won't be a problem. Time to relock the bootloader and send that brick away
Congrats.
Btw. most people fixed it with just leaving it charging for a while and then rebooting.

Wasn't a solution available a few weeks ago, when someone posted a video of releasing the battery a bit and the red light disappeared and the phone started working again.
U can try to open the phone up and disconnect the battery then reconnect it. This is how some people got theirs to work again.

Was trying to do that, but the back is more difficult to open as stated in a few posts. Trust me, I went to a music store to get guitar picks and the special screwdrivers I'm just not taking a rist damaging the phone trying to yank of the back (although I was trying the whole day!)

This exact same thing happened to me. I was on CodefireX with franco.Kernel and I was running an Antutu benchmark and it just powered off to a red blinking LED.
I too tried everything but I couldn't get it into recovery or fastboot.
I ended up just sending it back to T-Mobile (one year warranty) without locking the bootloader again for a replacement.

Hello! I have a note 3 and in enough time my phone will boot then go to the at&t logo then just sit there for ~5~ min or even more...then sometimes will go back to the Samsung thing back to At&T logo and give it enough time and hard rest but it comes back and I have my phone again. Pain....in..my..ass
The solution: factory reset...but I hate doing this because I'm doing it repeatly now...
Has anyone else has this problem or have any advice for me?
Edit: Does anyone know anyone willing to trade a Note 3 AT&T for a SM-N9005? It has a glass screen protector and a aluminium home button.

What did you do to your phone? As in did you root it? Try to install a custom ROM? A custom recovery? Anything like that? You can odin back to stock from Root De La Vega from what I understand. I don't see anybody trading their phone for a broken one. You can't even trade here on XDA, you have to use Swappa or something else.
I added xposed and some apps the ones I am using are
Call recording
Gravity Box
Wanam
I can't install any custom Roms bootloader is still locked :/
So I fixed it by just factory resting everything. So my point on posting this is to see if anybody has this problem. The phone isn't broken it in perfect condition. I just don't know how much longer I can take without an unlocked bootloader.
If you wanted I could screenshot of what apps are using root?

Just curious what (security hacks & advance mods) settings did you use in wanan?
when you got your note 3...You didnt carry over your sd card with anything on it did you from prior device? Or use titanium backup?
Id try to trouble shoot it this way...Disable wanan...reboot see If it does it again....If so, start with the other app and disable or unistall.....Keep trying you'll find the source

Hey guys, I wanted to ask for some feedback. I've owned the Atrix HD since it's release date. It is now my work phone and I use it mainly for phone calls, text, calendar, and navigation. It has been wiped, flashed, wiped, flashed, flash flash flashed more times than I could ever count. The Eb40 is starting to swell and my volume rockers no longer work.
The biggest issue I have is that now, no matter what rom I'm on, I have proximity sensor issues and screen on/off issues. Is there a way to do a complete cleaning and really restart from scratch. Not being able to answer calls, or hang up calls is a big deal to me, since it's a work phone. I've been considering retiring the AHD and getting a Moto E just for work, but if I can restart and get it working right, I'd consider keeping it. I have the desk & car dock so this is a great work phone, but I just need it to work.
Any tips would be much appreciated.
I still have my AHD XDA Favorite in IE. I haven't used my AHD since the beginning of the year when I handed it down to my son. I'd recently done a bump to Lollipop, and all was well. Yesterday morning, his phone froze up. It, too has had the EB40 battery mod done ages ago, and it's worked flawlessly. The screen froze up and stayed on all day until last night until it finally died. Never got hot - much to my surprise, but I was scratching my melon over why it froze up.
Long story short; we put it on the charger and it took a charge just fine. Worked fine this morning, but after coming home from the pool; he went to turn it on and zilch! I don't suppose there's any interest left in the AHD that anyone's going to read either of these or respond. But; if I come across a smoking gun, I'll let you know. Likewise; if you know anything about repairing them, drop me a line.
Thanks!

Thank you. I have it downloaded if you want to take it off your Drive. I went back to stock and it's working good. You think it's ok to now flash back to KitKat, or should I just leave it alone? Will going back custom give me the same issues again?

Should be good to go to flash back to KK. Make sure you clean flash.
