The glass is a little unglued from the upper left conner, I didn't noticed it until today when I wash my XZ (It had many finger print) so the device began to works a little weird, It unlocks and unlocks by itself and the down volume key starts to fail also.
The acelerometer is not working now and I am scared about if the warranty covers it. I didn't submerge I just wash out to clean it. Also, when I open the camera app i can see that the camera is working yet, but suddenly after a second the phone restart by itself.
In the past three days I went to the beach and used over the water to take pictures, I didn't submerge because I was concious about the seawater can cause problems in the devices, but my phone fell in the sand and I decided to washed it with potable water, It also the lens of the camera got tarnished but It returns to normality after a little minutes so I think that only was the glass that got a little tarnished in cause of the changes of temperature.
I am afraid about if the warranty covers this kind of issues, I am from Mexico and a friend bougth it for me in USA, what Can I do?
Sorry for my english, thanks.
It is condensation. Just let it be, it will be gone in a while.
What I did though, was to make the phone hot by playing games, it gets quite hot and it'll evaporate the water inside the lens.

It could works, but I need to repair the unglued glass
Happened to me 2 days back
Same cleaning from water and then power button went buzurk along with water condensation on camera lens within 2 hours I was at the service centre..
Are any of your water indicators red instead of white??!
If not then send it under warranty without taking a breath..because as someone specified on an another thread the power button and volume problem will remain even later.

Actually all my water indicator are in white, but until today the acelorometer and giroscoper are not working yet :/ That's mean I can't initialize the camera without the device reboot itself.
A problem is that here in my town there are no service centers. I don't know what to do :/
I think maybe you should go to a local mobile repair shop..I'm not sure if the device will be water proof after that.. But it will not be dead atleast
If even that's not viable.
Because the damage is continuing.
As someone said then you should try drying it..leave the flaps on keep it in rice..
Hope nothing big is damaged man.
Camera won't work if it doesn't get Reading from the gyro.. Hence it's rebooting..so the cam may still be fine.

I prefer that Sony take hands on the business, the model is not available in Mexico so I'm not sure about some technician can fixed it correctly, I will try to contact to Sony USA and Mexico.
I will try to put it in a bag of rice hoping it works for the moment :/
Thanks.
Just I have the doubt about if the back glass will unglue after Sony fixed.

Hello guys the last week while i was using my phone scrolling in app drawer i realized that the touchscreen was not so responsive especially in the mid of the touchscreen.I tried to install another rom than gdxv020 i was using but the same , tried to draw something in paint but it seems there are 2 big lines in the mid that cannot be painted.I think its hardware problem.Does any of you had the same problem with me and can a suggest a solution for my problem?Did the touchscreen "died" and need to be replaced?Thank you , i am waiting for your replies..
PS: My digitizer was cypress and i was using Darkfrmr's fix for hard to pull up status bar so i dont think the problem is because something is wrong with ax8mt.ko.
i don't know whats the problem, but first i would repair the phone with SEUS, see if its helps, before i'd take the phone to the service

Take it to the Sony service center before you do anything else to your lovely phone
'cos it appears that it is a hardware problem with u...
Thank you both for your replies.I went on Friday to a local sony service center and they told me that the touchscreen had the problem and need to be changed , the bad is that the warranty expired and now i have to pay the whole amount. The cost is about at 60E for a genuine new digitizer including the cost for the installation.I think it doesnt worth so much money because the whole phone costs that much so i will decide in the week what i am going to do with the phone..Selling it for parts to buy a new one or fix it.
Hope you'll get a cypress phone

Guys i have good news! I decided today to dissasemble it and give it a try to fix it.The only things i used was a hairdryer to heat the digitizer not more than 20 seconds and then i used a plastic tool and started pushing for a couple of minutes all the edges around(Check the photo bellow).VOILA!!.When i put the parts back together i was able to unlock the lockscreen finally plus i saved 60E ! If any of you guys facing a problem with the touchscreen and you had check that is not rom's or module's problem and your warranty expired give it a try..I am so excited that my X8 is back!

Thank you!
You started a (q) thread and we thank for it , but its nice, thanks.
Just be aware with the hair dryer!
My old k660i felt off of the washing machine, when it started washing and landed in a bath of water, it was working, but the screen wasn't showing anything, then i turned on hairdryer, used it like for 5 minutes from 0,5 metres distance, and the chips inside it, are overheated and died
So be aware
First thanks for me by: fotak-x and stamatis 16, thanks for it

So I got the watch yesterday and wore it at the gym today, it was nice to have media control over my phone during gym, just light resistance and 5 min of cardio, i didnt get that sweaty......BUT
there is moisture behind the camera lens now, pictures are blury. Samsung says watch can not be exposed to any water despite them talking of exercise in their manual. AT&T says not our problem
Looking closely at the behind the camera there is a tiny pin hole, I'm guessing a little moisture seeped in. It is sitting in a bag of rice now but if it is salt water i am worried about residue left on the lens. Maybe venture into disassemble and alcohol if someone ever has a picture guide. Any help is welcome
If the small amount of sweat I had caused issues i am wondering what will happen when people go to baseball/football/outdoor activities in summer and actually sweat
oh and the at&t girl suggested i cover the hole up with electrical tape for next workout, HAHAHAHA
the note 3 rules
Jesus man, I was going to use it when I lifted. I guess ill hold off
If I was you I would return it at a different AT&T. Don't tell them what's wrong with it. Just that you decided it's not for you. Then go to another store and buy again.
I would never keep a $300 anything that was damaged beyond my control. If you cant exercise with the watch on....it's not even worth it.

Yes the problem is mine isn't clearing up mosture is still in there after an evening in a bag of rice. It is clear until I put on my wrist and it gets warm
boah too me, that's a major issue, i also wanted too use the watch for playing golf and running.. but with this issue it's impossible..
does anyone knows what that tiny hole is for?
yeh mine cleared but I also wanted the watch for cycling now I dont want to wear it for activities think I will write to samsung

This definitely needs to be brought to their attention. I feel they should fix this issue for free. $300 for a watch that can't take a little sweat? That's ridiculous.

I ran 9 miles on Monday morning with it and did not have any issues luckily.
ok well i left the watch in the car (it was warm) in a bag of rice and it appears that has removed the moisture, i guess i need to be extra careful now
Very nice, very practical and beautiful watch.
It's only missing durable aspects like scratch prof and water resistant.

This is disappointing to hear. I was looking forward to buying one for displaying my Runtastic stats.
Thanks for sharing.
I will learn from this experience.
I have since made a neoprene wrist band to wear under the Gear when I work-out.

I had this issue as well. I thought it was just from the cold remember, but i do remember that i carried my heavy luggage a very long way that day.
Took it to the gym, biked for 30 minutes and did a 2 mile jog, so far so good. Love being able to skip music tracks on the watch.

so results may vary.... at least its not unfixable
...in the washing machine, for the full cycle!
But it survived!!
I discovered it in the washing machine the other night while looking to charge it. So I took it out of the case and shoved it in a box of Minute Rice we had in the cupboard and let it sit there overnight. The battery was dead when I got home from work earlier that day so I wasn't worried too badly. Anyway, I took it to work and disassembled it (thanks iFixit), washed all the parts in 91% isopropyl alcohol, and put everything in a bag with rice for a few hours. I'm a mechanic and have a lot of side projects so this wasn't out of the ordinary for the other guys.
I started assembling the phone, cleaning the rice dust off as I went. I plugged it in before I put the back cover on just to see if it would charge; lo and behold the screen flashed on with the animated battery icon! It powered on just fine, so on went the back cover. Everything else checked out as it charged. The only issue is the screen discolored around the edges... Oh well. After the whole ordeal, I'm just happy it works.
TL;DR- N4 went through wash cycle. disassembled and cleaned, works fine, but screen discolored.
nice, my nexus 4 took a dive too once but don't worry, the ground was okay! :good:
The discoloration should go away when it drys more I believe.
I dunno 'bout that... (Pic taken with spare phone then BT'd over to N4)

is that water on the sides? if so, let it dry for couple days.
It's better for the long run if you didn't use it yet and fully disassemble the phone and let all the parts dry out first.
you can find lots of tuts in youtube on how to fix a phone when it died due to deep dive (something like putting it in sand i totally forgot - just stumbled upon those vids back then)
btw, it really looks cool but its risky when charging! just a precaution mate!
Also, would have been cool if you called your phone while it was spinning! and got it in video! (good for the n4 community! haha)

All the parts did dry out. I disassembled it completely, washed everything in 91% alcohol, then put them in a bag with rice for a few hours. Not to mention the phone itself sat in rice overnight before disassembly.

I can't justify spending $$$ on a replacement LCD when I can get a good used N4 for the same price.
Have you ever tried taking underwater shots using your Xperia V?
Although this phone is just water resistant and not fully water proof, this mighty little phone is still perfect for low pressure water like swimming pools.
A few things to take note:
1. Xperia V will still take on water inside the back plate after some time. Make sure to wipe it dry after every picture taking session.
2. The Xperia V doesn't have a dedicated camera shutter button. You can opt to shoot photos via self-timer if you don't want to install third party apps.
3. If you would like to shoot photos easier, there are apps (such as this) that lets you shoot using the volume rocker as the camera shutter button.
4. Make sure your back plate is sealed shut and that there are no more clicks heard when you press it firmly.
And that's it! This phone has been a joy for me even though it's miles away in hardware specs from the newer models (but honestly I think the Z1 is just too overkill for my needs).
Here are a few of my underwater shot samples (warning: images are in large resolution):

Post yours as well! :fingers-crossed:
it's a little annoying that back cover is not providing waterproof for whole back internal part but providing enough water resistance for to wash or taking photos underwater is really a good part of this phone.
are you all joking???of course it is waterproof up to 30 minutes in 1 meter depth...have you read the manual??it has the same ip55 &57 standards as the xperia z....don't make other stories from your mind

yes i stand corrected as the Z and the Z1 are also just water resistant (with z1 having a higher ip rating of 55/58). but for real, based on experience, some water will still sip in on the area not covered by the protective rubber padding.

yes it gets water in this area you say but this is totally normal!this area as you can see is fully protected from water...thats why they placed the protective rubber only around the battery to protect all the electric contacts!
My phone spoilt after taking a picture
I just recently took a picture underwater with my xperia v. The screen went blank. I took out the cover and saw that there was water on the interior of the phone. I quickly disassembled the phone and wiped it dry, assembled it back again, and turned it on. Although it vibrated, the phone remained blank.
After that, I went home and dunked the battery in a bowl of rice for only about an hour or so. I didn't actually know how long I had to put it in rice, or whether it actually worked or not, but after I took it out, it turned on.
It seems to be working fine, but my main problem was that it did not take a picture. There are also faint blotches on the phone now.
I think it's not safe fully immersing the phone into water once it's a few months old. Based on my experience, the back cover seal will not be 100 % safe anymore, and the USB cover never really was 100 %. Having said that, I am still happy my V can withstand heavy rain and water splashes without damage. It's fully capable to be taken into the pool and resist the splashes. But if it drops, better fetch it as quick as possible and dry it.
Hey guys, I'm just wondering how waterproof the GWR actually is. What kind of stuff have you done with it? Shower? Swim? Dive?
I try to not wet it at all! I have splashed it a few times and got concerned so was wondering if I'm being a bit pedantic...
PS, I know its ip67...
I been on the swimming Pool for a few times and its still working. I can say that its waterproof from experience. Notice that when i was swimming the water would cause virtual touches to the watch.

I have forgotten to remove it in the shower a heap of times. You remember when it gives you a buzz as the screen gets wet. I also went snorkeling in the ocean once with it on. Went about 1 metre down before realising. Watch is still good. I would not be too worried about splashes or rain to be honest.

I think that the standard leather band will quite quickly start looking a bit ratty. Mine looked old after about a month so I replaced it.

Any tips about a nice replacement band?
I got that one in the photos off ebay. Rubber with clasp. Very cheap and the quality is what you would expect from the price. I'm not unhappy with it though. I now want a nice stainless steel band to go with the polished watch.

You can also use an app like showear to quickly lock your screen when you take it to shower with. That way it prevents the water from opening up random apps
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
I try in shower, pool, sauna, lake and sea. Still works I use lock screen or "theater mode"
Went to cancun with mine on. Went swimming in the pool and ocean. Had one scare one night at the pool where the screen turned off but came back on when I powered it back up
I'm also very careful not to splash my smartwatch, but I have a friend who take shower with his G watch every day for more than 1 year, and no problem at all so far.

You don't need an app like showear; clicking the power button twice puts the watch in theater mode, so the only way to wake the device up is by pushing the button, i.e. the water won't do anything to the screen at all.
