How do I safely update firmware? - AT&T Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm currently on MI9 and think I want to update to MJ5 for safestrapping in the future. I can't find the firmware anywhere. Please help, I'm really lost.
1. What are the benefits of updating?
2. Is there any benefit of staying on my current firmware?
3. How would I go from rooted MI9 to MJ5?

You can use safestrap on MI9. I'm on it and safestrap works fine.

The first rom you flash in the rooting method is stock I9. Just flash that.
In the Root De La Vega thread it has unrooting instructions there. Basically all you have to do is flash the I9 and leave it alone..at that point your unrooted

[Q] Help! Samsung N900A Root Option?

New to this forum and to the Note 3. My question may have been asked before on here, sorry in advance.
After spending hours online, I would like to know if there is root option for:
Samsung ATT N900A Note 3 running 4.4.2 Baseband Version N900AUCUCMLG.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
No if you want kitkat and root you need to go back to mj5 then install safestrap then install knoxraid. The way I understand it it is basically mlg with root and some debloat

This thread will get you back to MJ5 stock and you can then take the OTAs to get up the official 4.4
just make sure to download the files and follow the steps, have done it twice it works pretty painlessly to be honest.
Even if I'm on MI9 and the stock firmware is MI9?

So your build is still MI9?
If all your worried about is getting to kitkat i dont see the harm in going up to MJ5 and just using the OTAs to get up to kitkat.
IF i am wrong please someone else chime in. But im not seeing an issue with doing that.
Yes it is still MI9. What I'm wondering is that the sammobile website makes it look so quick and painless. Download the firmware then flash in odin. Just wondering if it works. Again thank you for all your help. I've had iphones ever since they've come out and he just switched to the Note 3 this past October. This forum has made the swith painless.

Isn't there a 1-click to flash stock MI9?
Is the stock firmware+odin considered a 1-click?

Just a heads up, the stock rom from Sammobile + Odin worked great!!

I'm gonna download Odin and the MI9 baseband version from SamMobile and flash my phone that way, then I will try and update to 4.4 OTA
I don't think you can go from mj5 back to mi9

I wouldn't use the method posted above unless you verify it is or 4.4.2 which I don't believe it is. There currently is not a root option if you are using kit Kat. Lots of people are waiting for root. When it happens you will surely see a method posted. The methid in the link above is more than likely root for a jelly bean version and may screw up your phone.

He is correct the method above will not work. I believe actually it only worked on mi9. If you do this at best it will simply fail at worst you will brick... In all likely hood you would wind up at a best buy getting reflashed.

Want to update rom

I'm currently on 4.3 nb4. I got my note 3 already rooted. I want to move on to kk. My question is how do I know what root method was used. So I know how to continue.

To my knowledge only kingo and vroot worked on 4.3 and they were the same just different websites
