Having issues with MMS on Droid 4, Verizon US and the 12/15/13 nightly build of CM11. Continually pops up a toast of APN Not Found. Tried to make my custom APN and add in the MMSC of mms.vtext.com/servlets/mms, but it would not stick. logcat just shows MMSC url blank, bail in there along with a lot of other apnFailed log entries.
Texting and other data works fine, only MMS does not.
I also tried editting the /etc/apns-conf.xml to have the mmsc url, but was still a no go. Not sure what info you need to help get this fixed in CM11.
Also, I couldn't post in the Dev thread for the CM11 builds because I don't have more than 10 posts, so I hope this is an ok place to put this.

Try the verizon messaging app on the google play store as well as updating to a newer nightly. There are official cm11 nightlies now as well.
I flashed my droid 4 over to cricket wireless long ago. My question is getting APN working for MMS for cricket. I had it working under JB rom (Eclipse) and it not working now. I seen the conf-apns under /etc and the list is long but does have Cricket. I changed it to include my number and had it under APN's in mobile network under the rom....but still not working. I messed around with build.prop changing certain lines.
I know that Droid 4 want to read from SIM on certain apps. I know changing certain settings will make it read from NV and RUIM/SIM. Any ideas????

Try change the operator code (mcc & mnc) in the build prop.
Find "ro.cdma.home.operator.numeric"
Put the value as your operator has. It is the combination of mcc and mnc.
If the operator numeric code is match with your carrier, the APN setting will enabled, corresponding APN will show up and your can add APN with the same operator.

Guys,
I have performed a search and tried various settings but have been unable to find a combination that works.
I cannot get the MMS on my unlocked, purchased directly from Google, T-mobile Nexus One to send.
Additionally, I am using the APN of internet2.voicestream.com so that I can use the $10 Web2Go internet instead of the epc.tmobile.com.
I have tried using both the stock messaging system as well as Handcent.
I am currently on Froyo but I also had the same problems with Eclair.
What are the tried and true settings for my particular configuration? Is anyone out there doing the same exact thing as me and have you been successful with sending MMS's?
you need two apns
FROYO by default will add epc one... don't delete it. however, go to APN settings and change the APN type to mms
create another APN for internet2 and set its type to default
arkavat,
Thanks a bunch! I tried this before but I did not properly set the internet2.voicestream.com APN type to "default". That did the trick.
Which APN should I apply the "supl" type to? internet2 or epc?
Can either of you post a line by line of the mms settings? This may come in handy to enable mms on my old g1 that my gf is using without a data plan.
I had the same issue, the mms settings helped but something else helped.
Send two sms and two mms to your phone (from yourself) and that fixed it for me.
OH MAN! I just spent 2 hours checking every line and trying every combination. Follow the above instructions about the mms and default APN settings exactly..... REBOOT your phone, then it will work. I didn't reboot and it drove me nuts.

Edit: Nevermind..dumb question. I need to try to get my gf to sign up for the $10 internet plan if it's still available.
for MMS I used just the factory settings.. epc.tmobile.com, etc etc..
However.. I changed the name of it from T-mobile US to T-mobile US-MMS
then down at the bottom where it says APN type.. you type in "mms".. all in lower case letters..
Now simply make a new APN... with the settings
Name T-mobile US
APN internet2.voicestream.com
APN Type "default" (all lower case again)

For the new internet2 apn, we need to know if there's anything that needs to be entered for the other lines.. like proxy, port, mms proxy, mms port, etc..username..password.. that's what we're asking for.

Thanks... I need to get my gf to sign up for the $10 web plan if it's still available. She's getting nothing... no internet, and no MMS, which is what she really wants to work.
Has anyone had any problem using a lot of data while on this plan? Will they notice?
I noticed that in the Manage Account Usage page under Recent Usage, with only 244.6/Unlimited minutes, the little bar below it is about 1/4 of the way filled. Is that normal or does that mean that we have a 1 GB softcap now?
The price makes it worth my while to go easy on the data, but I'd still rather watch an episode on hulu every day, if possible.
arg nm it just started working lol.
Anyone here has the Even More Unlimited Web Plan ($10) working here?
I am wondering if it is the same as web2go

I am on an Even More Plus plan and it works.
Confirmed Even More Plan Unlimited Web Plan works great.
I think it's faster than Tzone.
Yes, I know this question has been asked 150,000 times. Yes, I've read the threads. Dozens of times.
I have a Droid 1 on Cricket's $45 plan, and it's working perfectly. Calls, text, data, everything works 100% of the time, except MMS.
I've tried different roms (stock, bugless beast 0.2 and onwards, gpa15, gpa16, gpa17, simplystunning 5.2-.4, liquid gingerbread 2.0-.6, cyanogenmod 6-7, droid concepts, all of them), I've tried greenk45, I've tried xsylus's recommended apn settings + scriptrunner, I've tried the regular cricket APN settings (wap.mycricket.com:8080, 310:004, 310:016, server being * or wap.mycricket.com or mms.mycricket.com etc.) I've tried EVERYTHING.
And no matter what, when I try sending an MMS it just keeps 'sending' forever, and when I send an MMS from another phone or text4free.net, I get a text from 8662742538 saying "Multimedia messages are being sent to your device, but your device doesn't support these messages. Visit your nearest Cricket store for new device options"
I will do ANYTHING. ANYTHING you tell me to do. I will flash any rom, I will type any APN settings, run any script, I don't care what it takes. I just want to receive a single MMS on this otherwise perfectly-working phone.
I've been a C/assembly programmer for 13 years, I'm no stranger to any technical jargon you can throw at me, I just desperately need to know why this unimaginably simple task is impossible to achieve.
Log into your mycricket.com account and check your plan. This just happen to my wife's phone. I changed phones and did a ESN change. It removed "Picure Messaging/text messaging" and replaced it with "text messaging". Therefore you'll get that message when someone sends you an MMS because your phone does not have that feature enabled.
Call cricket and have them provision your phone again. I had to tell them i had a Samsung (cricket phone) and explained that it was flashed to Sprint and back to cricket.
not sure if this applies to cricket but on verizon, i couldn't ever send a mms without setting my data to enabled, if i didn't enable data it would take 399 years
Believe me, it's the account settings. When I did a ESN change a few days ago the system automatically removed Picture/Video. I had to call back and tell them i had a Samsung R560 and refresh my account. Then it showed back up and I no longer get that message when pictures are sent to the phone.
Very interesting! I logged in and only had text messaging, no picture messaging listed. I called 1-800-CRICKET and a lady said everything was now fixed, but still no MMS. Now there's not only no picture messaging listed, but no regular texting either. Seems strange.
Perhaps worst of all, when sending test MMS's from web sites, I'm no longer receiving the dreaded 'your device doesn't support these messages' text from 8662742538 that I used to, now there's no notification of anything whatsoever!
I've posted a screenshot of my current plan settings at the end of this post, can anyone comment? I'll go to the local Cricket shop tomorrow, but I doubt they'll know what's going on - it's a very small shop that doesn't do flashes or anything.
Pic link (can't post links/attachments yet):
i40.tinypic.com/307yefd.png
OK the Cricket store said everything was 100% fine, there was nothing wrong with my plan, and that picture messaging was included. Though if you look in the screenshot, there's still nothing mentioning picture messaging.
Could someone post an (anonymous of course) screenshot of their plan from mycricket.com? Preferably someone on the $45 plan. I just don't understand why it's so difficult to receive MMS messages - if I had a debugger and access to the phone's radio I could figure this out in 5 minutes, the current system seems like nothing but voodoo.
Well nothing changed regarding my last post, and I didn't change any settings on my phone, but now SMS is sending and receiving. No idea why.
APN settings I've had for the past month: Name: Cricket, APN: internet, no proxy, no port, user: (MDN)@mycricket.com, pass: cricket, server: wap.mycricket.com, mmsc: hxxp://mms.mycricket.com/servlets/mms (hxxp changed to allow posting here), no proxy, no port, mcc: 310, mnc: 016, apn type: default, mms. this is all using the dns-based autostart.sh being executed by ScriptRunner.
Also if anyone has trouble with the APN list appearing empty or edited entries disappearing, it's because your build.prop file is listing a different MCC/MNC pair than the APN you've entered - your build.prop probably lists ro.cdma.home.operator.numeric as 310004 or something, so unless the APN matches that (try changing MNC to 016 and watch it disappear), Android decides not to display it.
Hey guys, I've had this issue to and have shared this in the past but here it is again.
A lot of people complain they can't send or recieve MMS despite proper APN settings (i.e. calls, 3G working fine) after flashing a new rom.
The solution is very simple.
Just go to your phone's APN settings and delete ALL the extra settings except for the one that your phone needs to use. I've had this issue repeatedly where there were like 5 settings. ALL YOU NEED IS THE ONE SETTING i.e. delete everything else.
For eg. for me since I am on Rogers, in Canada my APN settings only list Rogers MMS as my APN and nothing else. When I had flashed the rom I had 5 settings there, I just deleted the others. MAKE SURE YOU DON'T delete ALL of them, unless you know your APN settings.
Another quick reminder, APN (access point names) settings in ICS are found in "More" under Wifi and Bluetooth in phone settings and in there click "Mobile Networks" then "Access Point Names"
Cheers
Hello All,
I'm trying to get a stock Verizon OG Droid to work on Pageplus.
I activated it recently and the 3G data and text messaging seems to work just fine but picture messages/mms aren't received nor sent ...
I assume this has something to do with a apn settings or some options, any help would be appreciated
Thanks,
Pete
You have to create a second APN for MMS in addition to the mobile data APN.
You should be able to find the necessary information in the help pages of your provider - or use google.
Interesting thing is i have tried sending that phone smaller pictures and it seems to receive them, can this be a MMS size limit issue ?
How does one resolve this ?
I am not sure if the APN would cure this problem anymore or has anything to do with it...
Pete

I'm pretty sure there's a size limit on MMS too.
Usually the picture is resized when attaching it.
Perhaps i should check the APN settings because it seems very flaky still...
I could not find out where the settings are on this phone, can someone point them out to me ?
Thanks,
Pete

Something like this - I don't have any stock 2.x devices to check...
Hi everyone. I've had the HTC One through T-Mobile since the first few weeks of its release. One of the best features about it is Group MMS. That way I can be in a group chat with most of my friends who have iPhones. It was working flawlessly on both a stock T-Mobile ROM, and Android Revolution 8.0. About two weeks ago my friends kept telling me some of my messages were coming in as blank. I was able to see my own messages and I was able to see all of their messages in group form.
I would reboot my phone, and occasionally I would send a message that would be readable. I wasn't sure what was going on. I had T-Mobile reset my SIM card info from their end, I removed my SIM card, etc. That didn't fix it.
I also wiped my device completely last night. Installed a 4.3 ROM (InsertCoin) thinking it was going to remedy the situation. But no...I am still sending blank messages.
What could be the issue here? Why would this stop working out of the blue, and wiping doesn't fix the situation!
Normal SMS is fine!
Please help!

I will try, but why would it just stop working out of nowhere? I also stated I reset it to factory settings as well, and even tried a new ROM. I didn't alter APN settings.
Edit: Just checked, APN settings are correct.

IDK, The only thing I know, is that I had this issue with my One X last year just after going from stock rom to cyanogenmod. no mms and sms working fine. I deleted my APN and created a new with correct info (mine from Rogers) and everything were working again.
Maybe flashing rom erase apn settings? idk. Just try, its very simple to check before going deeper.

Nope, I checked. The APN settings are there, locked, not able to be changed, and are correct.
Like I said, Group MMS works. I can see everyone's messages in the group. It's when I send one that it works on and off. This only started happening a few weeks ago. It was perfect for months.
It seems like I'm not the only one...
Anyone know what to do about this???????

the second to last post in that thread has a suggestion. Install the new Hangouts app with SMS integration and you'll be all set. Then you'll be used to it when we get our 4.4 update (or when Hangouts updates from it's 4.3 version, whichever is first)

I don't want to use third party apps (even though it's Google).
I should be able to use the stock messaging app like I've been using for months.
