is there a point to updating my firmware to the latest one always? im asking this because the latest 4.06 firmware seems to be for US phones rather than the international version. does that mean i should be sticking with the 3.62.401.1?

Hi!
I've got the international one and updated my firmware to 4.06 without issues. Always better if the firmware match the rom.

Hi, I yesterday got my One, but I am stuck at 4.1.2 unable to get update to 4.2.2 (update check says the phone is up to date). I am in Europe, in Czech Republic (I don't know whether it has any relevance). My software number is: 1.29.401.16.
Thanks for any clarification.

Official 4.2.2 update is only available to Taiwan region only specifically .709. Wait for your region to have an update. 1.29.401.16 is currently the latest official software available for your region.
Thanks for reply. But I have another question. I saw some videos about the 4.2.2 update on YouTube and I don't understand what I actually saw. I thought it was the official update but was it something unofficial? Can someone please clarify?

The update is being rolled out per region. The video was probably from someone in Taiwan or someone running a custom ROM.
We will probably get the update in europe in the next couple of days.
You can get the stock 4.2.2 ROM from the stock ROM thread. That's what I installed as soon as it was available and I've been using it ever since

The release depends on where you are and what region HTC has decided to release to. I'm in the US and is rumored to be due this month.
Sent from that FBI van parked down the street.
Im fairly new to the Sprint HTC ONE, but not new to HTC or XDA, etc.
Im a habitual crackflasher, and enjoy bouncing around builds, love nightlies, etc.
In the past, whenever I have rooted a phone, I have always tried to make sure I was on the latest radio (unless the community warned against it)
but I am having a hard time determining What the latest radio update is and how to get it alone (or how to get it then back to my build/Rom of choice)
What is the latest radio/baseband version, and if i'm not on it, how would I obtain it..
Like I said I've moved around probably 5 or 6 HTC phones, back into the WinMo days, and generally this is a sticky... but maybe the phone is so new there isn't any radio but the stock?

I had already did the OTA update before I rooted my phone so I should already have the latest baseband/firmware correct?
You are correct

Hi,
Just wanted to ask any users with an HTC One from HK if the 4.3 update has already been released. I bought my phone from there but I use it mainly in the Philippines. Checked today and there's still no update.
Also, if I restore my phone to the stock ROM from a nandroid backup then flash stock recovery, will I still be eligible for the OTA? I'd restore using an RUU but I can't seem to find one for Hong Kong phones. Thanks.
For OTA you need the stock rom and recovery.
Also the bootloader will be locked-relocked
Pretty sure it would be posted on this forum if the update had come out. We usually get it after Europe, so I doubt it. I'm on a custom ROM, so can't help.
Yeah, restoring from nandroid + stock recovery should let you get updates (when they arrive).
Alright thanks man. Are there any additional benefits to upgrading the whole firmware vs just the radio? I'm stuck with S-on.

I live in Hong Kong and my HTC ONE is HK version.
I can confirm you that 4.3 for HK HTC ONE itsn't there yet and no ETA were announced.
However, base on my previous HTC(HK) experiences and speculation.
If US/Taiwan and the rest of the world released the update on Oct, 2013.
HTC(HK) will release the update somewhere between March, 2014 and Oct, 2020.
Yes this is how good and efficient of HTC(HK), Yay baby!
Thanks for the heads - up. Guess I'll make sure my next phone is S-off before anything else

Seriously, using HK HTC handsets is almost like using a carrier branded handset. Usually close to being the last of the unbranded cid's to receive updates.

They will not release 4.4.4 for sense versions. Jumping directly to 5.0

http://www.htc.com/ca/go/htc-software-updates/#device-content.
They are currently working on 5.0 not 4.4.4.
They also made a post somewhere about it. Skpipping 4.4.4 to bring 5.0 faster.
any HK owner with cid 622 got the 4.4 update?
I have the T-Mobile US edition of HTC One. Currently I have firmware 3.09.401.1 installed on my device. I know that is a WWE firmware and it compatible with the T-Mobile model. I was wondering would I be able to install the 3.22.1540.1 firmware, as it is for the Dev Edition. Would it be compatible with my device?
Thanks in advance for any information on this.
You need to be S-Off, it should work, but your firmware is already new enough. Do you have any specific problems?
I don't have any problems with the current one at all. Are there any improvements in the newer one?
I have the new version, had the 3.09.401.1. No changes except new hboot which has the developer edition warning on it when it boots up

I installed the UK MK7 update weeks ago and want to switch back to the US now that it's available to get Exchange previews back. What's the CSC code for the US? Kies won't update since it says I already have MK7. Is there another place to download the new ROM? Can I downgrade to an older US ROM and let Kies update that way? I would, but I can't find even the old US ROMs.

Yes you can downgrade, Here is the thread where you can get the USA version. (OLD)
XAR is the USA version - Last one in the list (Labled as Cellular South)
Also you can go here and get the current version, Currently the top one in the list.

Was thinking the same thing but wondering if it even makes sense to do? If the UK gets another update (which I assume will be before the US again) won't Gear Manager download it to my UK rom first?
I decided to reload the old ROM and re-upgrade not being sure if were differences. I had some wierdness after loading the old ROM which I suspect was program updates intended for the new ROM. You might want to do a reset to wipe the gear before dropping back to the old version.
Having done so, though, I used Kies to upload the new US ROM and it all went fine. I am now on the US MK7 and all seems well.

So, are the UK and US MK7 firmware versions identical?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using xda app-developers app
I see no discernable differences on the surface. Under the hood, I can't tell. It seems unlikely to me that different versions would be left with the version number. Time will tell.

How can I tell which version of the MK7 software is installed the Us or the UK. I did both on two devices and don't know if there is a way to.tell

Thanks for this information, as I was not sure I was on the UK or the US version, having flashed the UK rom, but then being unsure if what appeared to be an update recently actually was. I am in USA and on the XAR version now. All have been working great with Exchange and other notifications.
Same size
I opened both .tar files (XAR from USA and BTU from UK) and they have the same exact size on all their subfolders (not a single Byte more, not a single Byte less) I assume they are the same firmware. Why Sammy took too long to update USA firmware? Weird right?

OMG, thanks for this almulder! It is not clear on Null Gear Recover pagethat all the US people are being sent to a link to download MK2 version which gives the scrunched recovery view. I'm still figuring this out, but this post makes things a lot easier.
