Hi dudes,
hope you can help me. I had several HTCs in the last years with customs roms.
Since eight weeks I own a S4 Active (my first Samsung). As usual for me I rooted it (for Titanium Backup and so on).
Now I want to update my phone via OTA, but it says "Your device has been modified. Cannot update". It is still the stock rom on it.
I tried Trianlge Away, but it wasn´t successfull - the counter is still 1 (if it is 0, the OTA will work or not?).
What I have to do to update my S4A (I don´t want to use a custom-rom atm)? Maybe it is a dumb question - but I am a Samsung-Noob...
Thanx a lot and merry xmas to you all.
I'm looking for it as well, I saw something about it last week but I don´t remember were (wich xda post) I saw that.
I has something to do with install the root and then install the cwm original or something like this, if I am lucky to find it i post the solution in here for you.
Hope someone help us!
What baseband and model are you using?

Update works with Kies. After that, WLAN didn´t work... So I flashed a custom-rom 4.3. Now it is all fine

I am not to sure about the OTA updates with the International version. Did you just root the phone? No custom ROM or kernel changes? I will do some research on it though. Interested for my own knowledge as well. I know there was a method for returning the counter to zero with my s3 which might be the case.
Yup, just root it! Not even installed CWM, and just by doing it it says that I have a custom ROM and cannot update. Sad...

I think you flashed a custom kernel to root your phone. Chainfire's is the only one I know?
The Problem with Triangle Away is that the counter won't go down to zero as long as you are on a modified Kernel.
So you will need to flash original stock Sammy Kernel, then use Triangle away and the counter should go down to zero.
That's my experience with this, hope this helped.
Greetings
Thomas

Thanks for the tip, I will wait for a big update (kitkat) so all the flashing and backup will be justified. Tks!

Hi All
I am having unlocked Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000. Currently its on Eclair. Now I want to upgrade it using Stock ROM GB ( given by Samsung on their website : sammobile.com ) . But facing following problems :
1) My Home key is not working . Is there any alternative to this key ? or I will have to get it repaired before I could do anything
2) My I9000 is unlocked one. So, if I upgrade it ,then will it get locked again ? If yes what is the method to unlock the set ?
please respond to my questions .. Thanks in advance ...!!
The button saviour app provides an onscreen replacement for the hardware buttons?
My phone has always stayed unlocked after i flashed it.

If you want an official GB rom for India (without root and stuff), just install latest version of kies and then update your phone using that.. I know everyone (including myself ) hates kies.. but if you want an official one without losing any of your stuff then its the best way..
If you purchased it brand new unlocked then it won't get locked when you upgrade.. further if you purchased it from India then there is no carrier lock in India..

Thanks for ur response Ishan, one more thing, actually my I9000 is German. So hope it will not create any problem while updating through Kies .. ?
Also any particular series of steps needed to be followed while updating through Kies ?
Just take any latest firmware from sammobile and flash using odin...
just use the corresponding modem... leave all the rest no probs...!

I ended up using 5830i XXLA2 PDA XXLK1 MODEM and BTULK1 CSC Works fine with these!
I am hoping to secure an S2 from a friend when he upgrades next month so I am looking forward to AKOP or CM10 or some hybrid of them like P.A.C who knows but I have more experience in Android now and I can have some funky fun with the 5839i now xD Lost count how many times I have bricked it due to experiments while I learn!
Even managed to Format the EMMC to Ext4 and install a rom I cooken in dsixda kitchen and use latest kernel from our friend in Rio using the CWM version of the kernel. Next on my list is making a kernel.
I learn by breaking stuff and its fun normally fixing it.
No matter how messed up it can get I can always restore the stock fw from samfirmware or the custom frankenstien split pack I 'assembled' *cough*
Dear All,
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note N7000 and my Kernel Version is 2.6.35.7-N7000VSLB1-CL976303. I am in Chile at the moment.
My Android version is still 2.3.6 when version 4 is already out.
I have tried to update through the phone's Software Update option but it always tells me "No Update Available".
Could you please help me with the process to install version 4+ Stock ROM on my Phone.
I would like to install a India Version of the ROM. Is it ok to do so?
Is it necessary to root the phone? Or can i install stock ROM directly?
Also, is ODIN the only tool i will need?
Please guide. Thanks in advance for your help on this.
Regards,
Anurag
Also...When i do a volume down, home button and power button press then nothing happens. Am i doing it right? What is the exact sequence? Do i need to turn off the phone first and then do this sequence?
Please guide.

You need to hold down the 3 buttons until the screen blacks out and the Galaxy Note logo comes back on.
Once you see the logo, you can let go.

It should all be thsre , good luck!!

Yes the "T" in the name is just the Telstra branding, if you follow ausdims rooting thread you will be fine

The 'T' in the model number isn't branding. The phone is actually slightly different.
I have a friend who works for Telecom here in NZ and they also sell the I9305T.
He said it is optimised for use on Telecom's network (and obviously Telstra's too) it uses different modems and the antenna is different inside the phone.
They do however use the same ROMs and firmware. Anything intended for the I9305 will also work the same on the I9305T, except modems.

Hello everyone!
New to this forum and new to Android phone. I have searched the whole forum and read through the dev-sections. Also did searches on multiple sites and through searchengines to find out what device model to use in the ToolKit...didn't find any confirming answer to my question.
As I have no posts from before, I couldn't write this in the dev-section, so I chose the thread that was closest to what I was looking for.
Question: What is the correct device model to choose in the ToolKit (I have version 7.0.0).
Information from my "about section"...
Phone: Samsung Galaxy SIII 4G
Model: GT-I9305
Android-version: 4.1.1
Build: JRO03C.I9305XXALK5
Operator: Telenor (Norway)
The options I lean towards since the only choice showing 4G, is number 21 (International 4G).
Problem is that it says it's GT-I9305N and not GT-I9305. It also says (Build JRO03C ALIA) and that does not match to my build either.
Then I look at the (International LTE), which says (GT-I9305)...which is ok.
And then number 14, which says (Build JRO03C ALK5), which is the same as mine...but it doesn't say 4G, which I have.
It might sound silly, but I really dont want to make the wrong choice here and end up having a phone that either "does not work at all"
or "does not work as it should". And before anyone says that I then should just leave it alone, my only intention at this point is to let
my anti-virus get root-access, so that the firewall works and the anti-theft works.
Hope anyone can be of help and thanks in advance.

Ok, so I rooted my device yesterday after reading through like 10 more threads...just took a chance, thought to myself "guts and glory" and went for it..went well =) I chose option 14 the build was the same as mine and it worked like a charm.
I am still left with a few quesitons though...might not be relevant to the thread anymore...
Does the rooting share the same build-match requirement as the flashing of a new operatingsystem?
How do I uninstall apps that were preinstalled on an operatorlocked phone?
Anders - Norway
I think you should look for app in app store, Root App delete or something like that. Then search for you operator apps/files and remove.

1. Bootloader is allready unlocked
2.For how to root look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2255190&highlight=how+to+root
3. Flash custom recovery, would advice this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxZf39vI0Lc. Download the .tar.md5 and flash with Odin in PDA.
4. Go to the CM thread and download the latest nightly and Gapps (Google apps) and place on the sdcard.
5. Go in recovery and wipe cache, dalvik cache, format system and data factory reset and then flash the CM rom and Gapps right after another without rebooting, reboot and you`re done.

Your bootloader is locked by Samsung. You can only flash signed firmwares by Samsung via Odin. You must first unlock your bootloader, then you can start flashing custom ROMs or custom recoveries for your phone. Unfortunately, there are no way to unlock it and there are no custom ROMs or recoveries for SM-G730V yet. This CM11 version on our forum is for the international and Latin American variant (GT-i8190/N/L) only.
And you should know that Odin saved your phone near a soft bricked phone

I think none currently working on it. Very less people using a SM-G730V variant of s3 mini. So I think, no, it will not ever be done.
Thumbs up for being helpful! Though the news sucks
Do I need to root s3 mini in order to flash cm11 with odin?
Also why doesn't odin see my phone?
Hello guys. I managed to flash the cm11 and twrp. The only problem is that i don't like the sms app. Is there a way to get the one that touchwiz had?
i don't think it is as easy as it sounds. you can deactivate stock sms app but i don't think you can easili install a new one...
I installed gosms for now but I want the Samsung SMS app
