I'm in England atm and I cannot access any data via t mobile. I upgraded to 4g before I left the US. I'm guessing I don't have the proper bands flashed? Any advice?

I am currently a Rogers user in Canada. Is there anybody who has experience using TD for Rogers 3G network? Does it work? Currently my TD only detects Edge or GSM. No 3G sign yet.
Also anybody is using the Rogers $30/6GB plan with TD?
Thanks in advance.
No sorry, not at the moment, but hopefully with radio updates.
Not on that plan either, pay as you go for me!
Sorry up front - I'm a phone noob. I bought this beautiful Galaxy S Vibrant in the US that was locked to the T-Mobile network ... I went ahead and unlocked it using the simple little unlock utility found via this site (woohoo!).
I took the phone into Telus and Rogers and both were unable to get the data service (internet/etc) to work on the phone. Voice calls seem to work fine, the phone call receive and send calls ... but no data service! It just says it's unavailable.
Is there something that can be done? I'd really like to be able to get this phone up and running on a Canadian network.

Telus and Rogers both use the WCDMA 850MHZ bands for 3G data in most areas and 1900MHZ in large cities. The T-Mobile vibrant doesn't support 850MHZ. If you live in Canada, you should return the phone...

It should be possible, I've read many people doing. I'm a noob myself when it comes to this, but try checking your APN settings... you may have to manually change them to get it to work...
crap ... what about Bell or Fido? same thing as Rogers/Telus regarding the band issue?

Yes, nearly all providers in Canada use this band.. I think your only chance is Wind Mobile if you're in Ontario.

Wind Mobile is in Vancouver too, but I think the only difference between Wind and Rogers/Fido/Bell/Telus is that they use the 1700 band instead of 1900.
Wind Mobile
uses both 1700 and 2100 bands in Canada (well Toronto & GTA, not sure about other provinces)
From Wikipedia:
Wind Mobile is licensed to use the UMTS IV frequency band, also known as Advanced Wireless Services (AWS). Using this band, user equipment transmits at 1710–1755 MHz, and receives at 2110–2155 MHz.
Wind Mobile is the first Canadian wireless service provider to make use of the AWS spectrum for its network. In North America, T-Mobile USA is the only other provider to use this spectrum on a large scale. Wind's use of AWS requires that customers use an AWS-capable handset.

So, to make a long story short... The T-Mobile Vibrant uses the "1700/2100 MHz" 3G bands, while Wind Mobile is the only carrier in Canada supporting these frequencies.
Quick question about HD7: is US version supports Rogers network in Canada + 3G?
You can use the phone on Rogers, but you will NOT get 3G. Trust me I'm using the phone with FIDO right now, and all you will get is Edge. The T-Mobile bands for 3G are different than Rogers/FIDO. I beleive you can run the phone quite nicely on Wind Mobile network and get 3G.
I have the T-Mobile N1 (1700/2100 I believe) and was wondering if it would get 3g on any service provider in the UK, and if so what service provider(s) will it work on? Any help would be appreciated, thanks
Yes, your Nexus One is fully compatible with all GSM/UMTS providers in Europe - you won't have to worry about supported frequencies.
so I'll get 3g on all of them as opposed to edge?
Yes, you will be able to get UMTS ("3G") reception wherever it is available and will be able to use the faster data standards HSDPA and HSUPA on your Nexus One, just like with T-Mobile US, on all networks.

that's great. thank you so much for the reply
I know you've got your answer now but just so you're certain I live in England and bought my N1 back in January, straight from America on their T-Mobile network. Been using both Orange UK and GiffGaff (on O2 network) since then for 3G without a problem.
cool. thanks for confirming this
Hi all, I am having trouble getting my unlocked note that I bought from amazon working on my Cincinnati bell network. I have voice but after searching the internet I tried a few different apn settings but can only seem to get the 2g edge network and not 3g let alone 4g. Any help would be greatly appreciated
i believe 2g is all you will get. cincinnati bell runs 1700/2100 3/4g and your note uses 850/1900. same problem as tmobile usa except the few western states using the 1900 for 3/4g.....
Jesus, how can a country that influent be so totally retarded when it comes to getting a mobile phone to work across the entire country? There's like a million standards and not even the same within a single operator. Get with the times - heard about GSM/WCDMA you know that the rest of the entire would uses?

Thanks, I heard T-Mobile runs the same network as Cincinnati Bell, would their galaxy s II work then?
tmous branded "should" work.. uses the same freq...
You can get more than 2G. CB has their own 3G network but you have to go to the store and upgrade your SIM card

That does not seem to be the point here... The point is that it seems Cincinnati Bell uses frequencies that are NOT compatible with the N7000 being the 1700/2100 band as opposed to the 850/1900 band that the N7000 uses.
