Hello guys,
Is possible to change the current XT890 boot animation for the new one (MotoX and MotoG)?
I think the new boot animation is awesome!
Yes it is easy to do. Replace the bootanimation.zip in the system/media folder with the one u like. It is possible that u need to resize all the pictures in the zip to the format of our phone to get it nice on the screen.

Im having an issue changing my shutdown animation. There is one in another forum called tv power off animation i am trying to load. I have a captivate running cognition. I put the file in the system/ media/video folder but its not working. Any ideas? or advice? thanx for any help

I believe that animation is a Gb only. If it where to work on froyo Im almost sure you would need to modify files for it to use that anim. Assuming its even possible.
i think you have that backwards....
its for froyo the shutdowm .qmg for gb hasnt been modded....the best you can do on gb is delete shutdown.qmg and then you will just have the "POWER OFF shutting down" window and then it powers off. no blue 'S' or animation at all
although the OP didnt specify what cog hes on or give a link to the animation in question so it could be a new one for gb and he is on froyo...
but i dont think so...
I thought he ment the crt animation that GB has.
Ed05 gingerbread power of animation is the forum i found it in and i am running cog5 v 2. so it sounds like it wont work on the captivate? in the forum its for the fascinate.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA Premium App
i think the problem here is you are confusing SHUTDOWN animation with screen-off animation....my guess is that anything made for the fascinate wont have the exact same framework as the captivate....
Well in the forum i am referring to it is a shutdown animation not a screen off animation. And thats why i am asking to see if it will work?

Anyway you could perhaps maybe idk link us so we know what you're talking about exactly?

what you are requesting is a mod for a 2.2.2 rom...and you are trying to run it on a GB rom
its just shutdown animation. i dont think GB uses the same animations that froyo used, so if its not working, you will need to find one for GB.
Which brings us back to my first post...

that would be an accurate statement if he was looking to replace the BOOT ANIMATION, but he is looking to replace SHUTDOWN animation...

Great! So this will be a brief info about how to install custom boot animations.
Basically, if you are on CM7, and when you boot, it shows LG, then it brings you to CM7's boot animation. You are basically changing CM7's boot animation to whatever you like.
Firstly, there are 3 methods you can use (Some pros and cons will be stated for each method)
1 - Flash the bootanimation.zip from CWM Recovery (Pros: Fast and quick Cons: Sometimes might not work. And zip requires itself to be flashable.)
2 - Download ROM Toolbox from Play Store (RECOMMENDED)(Pros. EASY. Cons: Limited Boot animations available.)
Steps: install the app. Slide to the interface tab and click boot animations. Install the one you like. PLEASE HAVE A NETWORK OR INTERNET)
3 - Manual Installation (HIGH RISK LEVEL)(Should it fail, something bad happens.) Copy the downloaded .zip to your /system/media. Replace the bootanimation.zip, means that the downloaded zip must be renamed to bootanimation.zip) (REBOOT AFTER REPLACE)
Thank me if you have read this

is it possible to do so? (i am pretty much sure it is)
if yes, then how ??

Hey,you can't do that.you have to change the whole boot animation
.if u want to change the whole boot animation then install `boot animation' from play store.

nop u cnnot change..
If he's talking about the GT-S5830i static logo that shows up before the actual boot animation then the file can be found at "/mnt/.lfs/logo.jpg". Its part of param.lfs, bootloader data partition. Its possible to change it I know that much, but never tried it personally so don't know the exact details or how risky it is. See this for a bit more info.
If he means altering the animation itself to change the text on it then obviously you can't do that.
I was checking out the long list of custom animation boot screens available at XDA
So resized the S3 boot animation to our ace..:silly:
All credits to XDA.
To install the boot animation,File browser method (Rooted devices only)
Connect your phone to your computer via USB and mount the storage card for file transfer.
Copy the bootanimation.zip file that you want to install, to your SD card.
Unmount USB storage and launch the root explorer of your choice on your phone.
With root explorer or any other app that allows you to get to /system/media copy the bootanimation .zip into /system/media (remember to mount R/W)
Rename to bootanimation.zip and set permissions to rw--r--r--
Should Look something like this

I'd really like to replace that Facebook logo with the stock jellybean boot animation but when I placed it and rebooted, the Facebook logo still appeared. Do I need to delete the Facebook logo first? Could you explain to me how to get it to work?

Copy htcboot.zip to computer then unzip. Place image in android folder and name it 1.png( used gimp). Then use 7zip and zip android folder and desc.text(make sure to set compression at store). Then copy new HTC_boot up.zip back to system/customize/resource/(used root explorer for this). Finally set permission s to rw-r-r.

First thanks to TrueBlue_Drew for EZ Splash Screen Flasher.
How to use:
1st do 1 to make sure your phone is seen
2nd do 6 to backup splash file
3rd do 2 to invert png must be 720 x 1280(pngs work better)
4th do 7 follow screen
Uploaded jelleybean splash img can be placed in place image here folder and skip #3
Hope this is close to what you wanted RCon227
No more FB splash or bootanimation.:victory:

This thread inspired me to finally try to eradicate the Facebook logo at startup but I used a little different method. I simply downloaded a complete boot animation zip (tons of them on xda...) and copied it to the appropriate folder in es file explorer. Everything worked like a charm EXCEPT the damn Facebook logo shows up before the custom animation. This is even after the original boot animation zip is removed completely from the directory. Anyone have any insight on how to fix this?

The original SplashFlasher is set up for 480×800. But this is easily adjusted.
The harder challenge I'm facing is that it doesn't convert the img file to png correctly. Anyone has a workaround for this?
Try converting IMG online first then use splashflasher to install. Had to convey jpg online first not thru splashflasher. Dry I wasn't clear on that.
