[Q] Screen Orientation in Landscape for Latest CM 11 - 7" Kindle Fire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone else having issues with the way the screen rotates in the 12/20 build of CM 11 (cm-11-20131220-UNOFFICIAL-tate.zip ) I did not have an issue with the first beta build of 4.4 (cm-11-20131126-UNOFFICIAL-tate.zip ) The screen rotated correctly with the 11/26 version. Apps that default to landscape are upside down now in that version on the KF HD.

I found the following post from Hashcode dated 12/5 and maybe that is what has happened with the 12/20 build of CM 11:
"Next build will have some changes to the device.
In a discussion with @twa_priv we decided to stop fighting the rotation woes so that the camera is rotated up in default landscape. The setting to force the rotation this way is very buggy and just doesnt work well enough.
So instead, the new default landscape rotation will place the camera on the bottom edge of the device. While not optimal, it does fix rotation in every app / launcher that I've tested."

[Q] Screen Rotation

I was debating putting this in General Q/Aor here, and decided here since this is about cyanogen 6 system workings. I'm running CyanogenMod 6 latest nightly (Aug 8) and was wondering if there is any way of disabling screen rotate in the homescreens BUT leaving that enabled in the other apps and everywhere else. I'm using LauncherPro Plus as well as my launcher.
In LP preferences under behaviour, turn off auto-rotate.
thank you very much, i believe this is what i was looking for. ill test for the day and see if it is exactly what i wanted.

CM 10.1 lock screen rotation?

I'm currently on CM 10.1 M2 but using CM 10.1 since first experimental release. Is there any way to enable lock screen rotation or it's by design to have it portrait only? Is this even an option in CM? I think I've looked through all the options but to no avail... Thanks!
Hi. I have a Galaxy Nexus, and the ability isn't present in our CM 10.1 M2 either. Apparently it was in earlier builds in the display settings as a specific option, but is no longer there.
I notice that my Xoom doesn't have the option either, but the lockscreen still rotates.
Maybe all the actual phone builds don't have this then... I just replied because I've been seeking the same answers as you, but for the GNex.

As you can see you can try Screen Orientation on the Play Store. It rotates the screen and the lockscreen as you like. Check it out. I don't think that feature is available in the SGS but in 4.2 Moto Atrix they have it.

[ROM][Development][POLLUX/POLLUX_WINDY][UNOFFICIAL] Cyanogenmod 12.1 by the FXP team

I'm not the developer but I noticed there is no discussion on this topic. So here it is
Download: http://fxpblog.co/cyanogenmod/cyanogenmod-12.1/

1 thing that I found that is different from CM11 is that the locked to portrait is gone. in CM11, if my device is in portrait orientation and I locked the rotation using the notification bar toggle, it will lock my divice to portrait. If my device is in landscape, it will lock it to landscape.
With CM12.1, if I do the same thing, it will only lock it to landscape. no way to lock it on portrait.
But otherwise good ROM.

Cool. So you've tried it? Is it better than the other unofficial CM12 or better than Official CM12?

this is the only CM12.1 ROM I've tried. I believe FXP team is the main source of Cyanogenmod for Sony devices. So their build might be not as up-to-date but you can be sure the guys know what they're doing.
The author of the other thread is the good chap doing all the Sony commits, pretty official.

How to stop reverse portrait rotation on Nougat?

I've been running Nougat since the previews and I recently dirty flashed the non-preview image onto my N6. No problems, except my screen rotates upside down. I've noticed this since the previews, but thought it was just a preview thing. Now that the official image is out, I still have the same problem. I'd like to have portrait, landscape and reverse landscape (if that's even a thing) to be enabled at reverse portrait to be disabled.
1 : Is it because I dirty flashed it? Does everyone else have the same problem as I do when they did a clean wipe?
2 : Can this behavior be modified WITHOUT a 3rd party app? (eg: Build prop edit)
Thank you.
"Reverse" portrait isn't normal, as far as I can see. I'm running a debloated stock ROM right now due to AOSP having problems with Google Now, and that ROM rotates in every way except upside down. Some ROMs such as Cyanogenmod do have it as an option however.
Clean flash your ROM. If that doesn't resolve the issue, unless there is an app which can halt rotation in one direction, you'll probably have to find a custom ROM that can disable rotation in that one direction.
Might have luck checking into settings --> Display -->Rotation---> Uncheck 180 degrees

Screen Rotation Bug

Has anyone experiences screen rotation bug as I do? Some apps (specially facebook messenger) auto-rotates to landscape at startup even auto-rotate settings is not enabled. Though it only happens at startup and never gets stuck on landscape mode, it's pretty annoying.
I know a factory reset could possibly resolve the issue but it's too hassle just for a simple bug.

nope. it's not. I thought it might be the nova launcher so tried switching back to default launcher but it's not the cause. the bug's still there.
bug is fixed in Android Pie 9.0 update
