Hey guys, I'm in need of some help....
I was flashing an update to my ROM on my unlocked HTC One using CWM touch recovery. The aroma update process appeared to complete correctly and i rebooted the phone however, it failed to get past the bootloader screen trying to boot the rom. When it bootlooped back into recovery I discovered I have a pretty major problem, the bootloader attempted to boot into recovery, flashed up the CWM recovery screen, but then that bootlooped too. I can reboot into HBOOT/fastboot but nothing else. I have tried fastboot flash recovery to TWRP and CWM but they are still flashing up and then rebooting. Any ideas on what I can do to dry and rectify this? I don't really fancy a £600 paperweight a couple of weeks after getting it...
Cheers
Hi, I have a Moto X 2013 Developer Edition with bootlocker unlocked and stock rom with Android 4.4.4. It's root, has TWRP and SuperSU.
Since last week my phone is shutting down almost always after power on (only a few times it keeps power on for a few hours), and restarting in TWRP recovery mode.
Do you know what could be the cause of this boot loop?
I suspect it has something to do with the Lollipop Update to 5.1, cause I start getting this boot loop after the update option was shown in my phone (I didn't accept the update at first).
I tried installing again SuperSu (thinking that maybe root was disabled), but without luck. The phone continue with this boot loop.
I also tried installing now the Lollipop Update to see if that resolve the issue, unfortunately after the update is downloaded and I accept the install, the phone shutdown and it boots in TWRP again (so the updated doesn't install).
Hope my problem was explained well and anybody can help cause my phone is really unusable like this.
Thanks in advance!
You're only suppose to install stock ota's using stock recovery not custom recovery. It's best (if you can) flash back to stock if you know how.

can you please tell me how to flash stock recovery
Thanks for your response. Do you mean to flash stock recovery? or full stock rom?
Just in case, I don't need/want to install lollipop, only want to avoid this kind of boot loop and stay at 4.4.4. I'll only install 5.1 it if that fix the issue /but as I say I can't do it because after download and try to install, it power down the phone and goes to twrp recovery).
Thanks for your help!

It's best that you flash back to fully stock rom. If you can flash back to 4.4.4

What if they disabled the update app, wouldn't that stop the update from trying to install and cause it to reboot into twrp

Hi cdiamon, sorry asking again, but there is something I don't understand.
I have original stock rom 4.4.4. I only unlock bootloader (I have the developer edition), put twrp and root the phone. Why the suggestion is to flash back to 4.4.4 to resolve the issue? Didn't I'm already at stock rom?
By the way do you think the problem is because twrp and/or root by supersu? If yes, can't i simply uninstall supersu or remove twrp in some way?
B.E.McAllister and praty, thanks both for your answers, I'll look at them too.
Thanks in advance!

The problem is you have twrp on your phone when the phone is trying to update. You need to flash stock recovery then take update. Or keep twrp and disable update app.

Hi monkeytools. thanks for the explanation. I think I'll disable update app then.
Just to know, is there any way to uninstall TRWP without flashing stock recovery and loosing all of my configuration?
Thanks in advance!

You don't loose anything by flashing recovery. That is if you just flash recovery or fastboot recovery.
Whenever my recovery is TWRP I am not able to boot into any type of ROM. Every time I reboot my phone it will be past the "your bootloader is unlock" and always boots straight into TWRP. When I flash stock recovery I am stuck at a image of a Android and it just stays at "erasing..." till it reboots itself. I have attempted to flash different types of roms by sideloading through TWRP and also attempted to flash stock recovery through fastboot with no luck at all.
The issue started whenever I was on stock 6.0 and flashed TWRP. Once I was in TWRP at the end when I was rebooting my phone I said yes to install supersu, which I know now was a mistake. Afterwards I was stuck in a bootloop were I finally attempted to do a factory reset which seemed to have made things worse. That was when I was stuck at the "erasing..." whenever I attempted to boot through stock recovery. Not sure what else to try at this point.
Any help would be great at this point.
I'm in the same boat. Exact same problem with no idea how to fix. I can get into fastboot screen, but that's it. Suggestions? Thanks in advance.
Hello I am working with an XT1060 Developer edition, it is verified to be the xt1060 vie barcodes in The bootloader menu. It has twrp installed and has bootloader unlocked. After trying to flash CM12.1 it is stuck in bootloop. Oddly it appears that my system backup has been deleted. I have tried to flash a firmware zip that is allegedly the vzwxt1060dev edition 4.4.2 and boot animation is different indicating that the OEM ROM did load however the boot loop remains. I did erroneously flash a recovery.IMG onto the boot partition using twrp, however I was under the impression that flashing a new ROM would overwrite this. What is it that I am missing here?
I bootloop mine on a regular basis not having a SD card sucks adb sideload gets me up and going u lose everything
Hey everyone I just recently got a Moto X Pure with TWRP recovery already installed and the bootloader unlocked, unrooted. The phone was stuck on Marshmallow so I went to update and it would take me to TWRP recovery every time and when I reboot back into the system, I'm still stuck on Marshmallow. So I downloaded an app that would make me download OTA updates while still having TWRP recovery but it needed root access, which I didn't have. I tried all of the one-click root apps but non worked then I stumbled across an easy root method: ( oops it said I can't post links, but basically I downloaded a supersu zip and flashed it) which I followed very precisely and I'm pretty sure I did nothing wrong. But when I flashed the ZIP using TWRP and booted back into system it was stuck on the Motorola logo which I'm assuming is bootloop. I was going to download a stock recovery using fastboot but I discovered that it would relock the bootloader, which would render the device useless to me so I can't. I also tried wiping the Dalvrik Cache but it always failed. I'm new to all of this so please guys I'm desperate for help. Thanks in advance
