Hi Everyone
I recently bought a new Galaxy Tab P1000. Everything is just great, but the problem is that i doesnt support arabic. Letters on websites are disconnected.
What I kindly need, is info on what ROM shall I flash. I've read the the JPJM4 is newer than JPJK5 and its arabic enabled. I dont want an arabic interface, I just need arabic language support.
Kindly provide me with the link to download the ROM from.
I've read that my ROM might be bootloader protected, so I have to unlock it first. Do I have to convert the File system ?
And I have to back up my ROM on the SD also, in case something went wrong.
Do I need to flash only the ROM alone ( using Odin 1.7 + the drivers installed ( I have windows 7 ), or I have to flash something else? I've read about the procedures on how to flash it and there shouldnt be a problem. I've read also that some people flash from the Micro SD attached.
Any helps are hughly appreciated.
Thanks.
Hi, I'm currently using arabic enabled rom from Galaxyer http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=933028
My SGT was not locked so I've no problem flashing it. You will need to unlock your tab first, the instructions can be found somewhere else in the forum. After that, just follow the instructions to flash the rom. I simply follow every instruction and never encounter any problem at all.
Thanks for your kind reply.
1- Im downloading the ROM provided in the link u posted.
2 - I'll install the app that Unloack the bootloader in case if it was locked.
3 - Is it a must to load and flash my kernel using MoDaCo Kernel Ext4 ? What about the PIT ?
4 - Do I back my ROM on SD before i Proceed in case something went wrong ?
Thanks again, its really a good joy to find kind members like you to offer help on the spot

You don't need the PIT file. Just flash the MoDaCo kernel as PDA using Odin 1.7 (do not select Repartition). After that, you don't even need Odin for the rest of the process. Just make sure that you inserted the external SD Card and it have enough free space to backup the applications during the conversion to ext4. Without the SD Card, the conversion won't proceed and you'll stuck there until you insert an SD Card and restart SGT.
If you're already using CMW, then you can do a Nandroid backup of your ROM to the SD Card. If you're not, then don't worry, follow the instructions correctly and insya Allah nothing bad will happen.
-the thanks should go to all those who have done the hard work to provide us with the roms and guides
Urgent help please.
I installed the patch and applied it, the TAB isnt bootloader locked, great.
I loaded Modaco Kernel ext4 in download mode, the Tab restarted. At this point, I disconnected the TAB from PC and restarted Tab in Recovery mode with new ROM zip installed on formatted SD Card ( FAT32 ). Im getting a message :
E: Failed to mount / system (invalid argument )
/system may be rfs. Checking..
E: Failed to mount / data (invalid argument )
/data may be rfs. Checking...
.
.
.
.
File System need to be converted to ext4.
E: Failed to mount /SD Card (no such file or directory )
Cant mount /sdcard
Please Help, Im stuck here.
* The micro SD is 4GB, might it be the problem, does it have to be 8GB ?
i recommend Overcome kernel for two reasons; firstly, after applying the kernel from odin the tab restarts and all filesystem conversions are done automatically with a robot voice narrating the progress! the future additions and roms can be installed from internal storage be it 16gb or 32gb no sd cards required!Plus multiple enhancements like voodo sound mod updated! I installed the galaxyer rom on the overcome kernel!
4GB is fine, I used 4GB too. FYI, the first time I got stuck exactly where you're because I removed the external SD Card, thinking that it is better to flash it without any card. Turns out that the SD Card is needed for the conversion, so I just switch off the tab (long press on the power button), inserted the sd card and restarted in recovery mode and the conversion went without a glitch. But make sure you've charged your tab because the process takes some time.
Hi.
Sorry for the delay in posting back.
Turned out that the MicroS SD was "bad"... Replaced it with another one and the conversion went smooth.. The file system was converted, the backup was made and I chose the new ROM from Micro SD Card. Everything went smooth but it didnt take too much time !!!!
Anyways, its all fine now, thanks all for ur time.
Hi, incoming wall of text
I'm a total newbie in the Optimus 2x, just got a new one, but not in the world of roms. I had an htc hd2 before. Maybe I think I know some stuff about roms, but the methodology is new and I¡m confused. For example, I have no clue what benefits I get by changing RIL, or how to find which one I have.
Ok, so I bought this phone, which is from vodafone from a guy who installed the stock 10b version. That worked nicely, internal memory was recogniced as sccard and sccard as external sdcard, so no problems at all.
Now however, it seems the phone is using the sdcard as internal memory and I can only access the internal memory from my computer. Also pimpmycpu says the kernel is not compatible with the app, I guess because it's not installed in the actual internal memory partition of the phone
Here are the steps I've done in case there's something wrong:
-From stock 10b I installed SuperOneClick v1.9.5 with debugging mode on and rooted the phone
-Then I installed Recovery 3.2.0.0 and copied the latest CM Rom (v49) and this kernel to the sdcard
-I wiped data, cache and davik cache
-I then installed the rom and the kernel with this exact name vorkKernel-20110616-1080-bc-lecam-silence-boost (no -internal) and the kernel afterwards
I've already read this forum for hours. Any help would be apreciated.
Thanks for the answers
I found that GB uses the external SD as standard, that I misspelled 1080p and silent
Also Upgrading Recovery to 3.2.0.1 (compatible with internal and external memory) helped
I updated my LG optimus 2x with CyanogenMod (2.3.5)

Got almost the same problem earlier today (not with CM though).
A restart solved that problem (for now). Have you tried that?

Has there been any kind of notification telling you that your SD is corrupt?
Can you see your SD card in a file manager?
Do you even have an SD card? CM does the internal storage differently.

I'm surprised that Cyanogenmod install can be done without a physical external SD card.
It's mandatory to have an external SDcard to use Cynogenmod, even if your internal SDcard is empty.
There are complicated things to do as mentionned above to switch internal and external mounting points for Cyanogen but I can guess this can be tricky for someone not used to those things....
So:
- buy a sdcard, even a small one, internal sdcard still can be used for multimedia files and so on, and is mounted as /mnt/emmc (grab Astro File manager for exemple to see it) and is concerned by media scanning.
- flash back stock firmware (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1127849) if you didn't made a Nandroid backup before flashing CMod.
- flash another optimized Froyo rom (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1127849 there are some)
- Didn't try Paul Modaco's Gr2, based on official Lg leak 2.3.4, perhaps its mouting points are more conventionnal; but Gr1 pre-baked didn't went good for me as there were no SIM card detection (probably missing some APN related files or so...) so I jumped to CyanogenMod Nightly.
I just bought an O2x with CM7 RC1 already installed. The camera doesn't work (Please insert an SD card before using the camera) and my computer doesn't find the phone when i connect the USB cable(it says it's charging but nothing happens on the phone or the PC). I tried installing LG Pc Suite and the official software on the LG site(mobile updater) and the USB driver seems to be installed but nothing happens when i connect the phone.
What should i do? Should i flash a newer CM7 nightly or a stock firmware? (i have literally no idea how to do that, i'm going to have to read some tutorials). Can i do that if i can't connect the phone via the USB cable? Is there another way?
Yeah flash a newer version, RC1 is quite dated. In the new nightlies you can make internal storage replace the SD card.
You can update the drivers with the LG Mobile Support Tool, PC Suite isn't compatible with CM7.
I installed LG Mobile Support Tool, still nothing. The battery is "Charging" but nothing else happens on the phone/pc. Can i flash a newer version if i can't use the usb to connect to the phone?
Edit: The phone has ROM Manager 4.3.2.3 installed and when i start it: "The SD Card needs to be mounted to use ROM Manager."
I suspect you don't have an SD card, only internal storage. You can't use ROM Manager with that on RC1.
Try the drivers here: http://android.modaco.com/topic/335...elease-103521-20110725/page__view__getnewpost
No, i don't have external SD card. The phone already had CM7 when i bought it. So i just have to download those 3 files and follow the tutorial?
I also found this tutorial and it has that AP BIN thing in plus. Which one to follow? I would be happy to install stock froyo if everything works on it.
Which one to follow depends on what you want for your phone. Personally I'd use CM7.
Ok , i'm gonna go with CM7. If i follow that tutorial(the one you posted) what exactly i'm gonna have on my phone? What does it do? Don't i have to install a newer CM7 nightly build?
This tutorial doesn't say what to put in the AP Bin box, i just leave it blank?
If you go with CM7 then you have to install via recovery, not Smartflash, completely different process.
Download the newest version from here: http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=p990
Save to your phones internal SD card
Update recovery (unless already on 4.0.0.9 or higher)
Reboot to recovery (can use ROM Manager for that)
Install zip from SD card
Choose zip
Select the CM zip and pick yes
Reboot
In the CyanognenMod settings, in the top option (i foget what it is now) tick 'use internal storage'
Reboot again and you're away
"Save to your phones internal SD card" How am i gonna do that? I can't use usb to connect the phone.
Oh, have you not sorted that yet? Bugger.
Try running mount -t auto /dev/block/mmcblk0p9 /sdcard from the terminal, with any luck this will make your internal SD /sdcard and you should be able to download CM via the phone. You can also use ROM Manager to install it then as well.
Hi all,
I am quiet new in try ROM's. Desperately looking for help/guidance. I am very much interested to try ICS and though of flashing DjangoManouche X 1.1 (NoOC) rebuilded on 30a. Till this morning, i was with Temasek unofficial GB rom.
I downloaded the rom - DjangoManoucheX1.1KoBNoOC.zip but did not move to external SD card. I followed the instructions the below instructions.
1. To change partition layout from old to new (if you come from GB roms) and unlock bootloader using AIO tool by Spyrosk.
2. Flahed New v30a recovery v6.0.1.5 based on v30a kernel.
3. Cleared Dalvik cache.
I could login to recovery without any problems. Now in order to flash new Django's ROM, i need to have the zip file my SD card however i dont have it. How do I install the new ROM now without having it SD card.
I tried CWM sideload to move the zip file however it threw error "adb sideload failed to write protocol fault error". Please help me to move the zip and install this new ROM. I tried using the SD card with a reader in my laptop however it didnt detect (perhaps due to new formatting?)

Hey i got a way to move the zip to SD card from CWM recovery. I mounted as USB storage from CWM and then my computer detected it without any problems
Btw, i am exploring the ROM. It is butttery smooth and looking great. Thanks Carburano. Happy new year..
you could have also put it on internal card, no need for sd card... works flawlessly...
Hello all,
I've got a GT-I9000, which have a ugly situation:
- on starting some apps generally break down with errormessage (Maps, Mail.web.de and others
- any change in the system are not persistent (passwords are lost, new Apps can not be installed, Apps can not deleted)
- Changes on internal SDCard are also completely not persistent (nor Deletion or copy files on the storrage, nor formatation)
- complete wipe are also not persistent, but after a new start the smartphone makes a initialisation-Setup (asking for settings Google account and so on), but other settings are still there (background pic and so on)
- Wipe did not work over settings and also not over the CWM recovery
- Flashing did not work for the system. Tryed one file versions, and three file versions with and without 512.pit and repart. But odin (1.85) told everything was fine while flashing
- Kernel and recovery-flashing works without a problem.
- used actual drivers, Kies not running in system (shutdown via taskmanager)
- Downloadmode, recovery works. Access via usb is possible in running system and over CWM, but changes are nor persistent (so it is not possible to flash via CWM, because I can not store data on the SDCard, and I ve actual no external SDCard..
So after searching a lot of forum enrys I can see, that there are some other guys which have the same prolem, but I found no working solution. I think that there are the following possebillities:
- the NAND is brocken in some areas
- the partitions/partition-tables are not working right
- maybe the MFT is brocken...
- motherboard defect
- negative energy from space or aliens lives in the phone
So I'm interested in you thougths, and your ideas. I ve no problem to use Linuxs or windows tools, and it would be absolutley great if someone can told me that there is a posebility to recover the phone (other way of check the ram, partitioning in other ways and so on)
What do you think,
Best regards

IF its a hardware problem, you need to use a box or JTAG solution to identify the problem, so just try exhausting Software solution, till you are sure its a hardware issue.
visit My Android Collections downgrade your phone to the earliest version, Eclair ( but your combo keys will not work) so you need to flash the fix or try froyo or try the i9000 rescue kit with heimdall or recovery tools to flash
or.
get an 8 gig EXT SD card, partition it as a 2 gig and 6 gig in rfs /vfat format, try flashing the ROM with speedmod kernel for i9000
Thanks at first for your Informations!

So I'll retry at first the Software-way. But nevertheless I'm thinking about to buy also a JIG, because it seems that I flash more and more, and then it will be a good idea to have a emergency-tool to reach the download-screen. I've read sometimes that this stickers clean also the counter and triangle stuff, but I'm ot sure if this will also work for my new S3? (sorry, is a little of topic)...

Here I'm a little puzzled. If I understand it right I have to format the SD-Card with two partitions, and then I flash the Rom on it?? I've never heard that this is possible. If yes, Odin recognize this automatically? Or does this only mean, that the I9000 have then a external Storrage which may improve the flash-process for CWM?
Thanks, and Best regards,

Nope, what I am looking at is, its possible your problems could be due to internal SD card corruption ( hence trying to isolate it using your External SD card to perform as its internal SD card) , as such by using the external SD card, with speedmod kernel, which is capable of reading that as your Internal SD card. In other words its like switching the cards and flashing the ROM. Read this
BTW this will work when Internal SD card totally corrupted and I am not sure it will work in partial corruption ( as you indicate) but worth giving it a try.
also look at this
yup, usb jig will work for S3 too, and triangle away works only for s2 and up, and S does not have a flash counter.
OK, sounds as we have maybe a way... SDCard switch is something what comes not in my mind, so now I have a little hope
So as I can do that only later in the weekend, I'll post my tests later.
Thanks
SP
Hello,
the external SD-Card could do the trick. I've startet in that way, format the ext-sd-card in two partitions (one reiserfs and one Vfat) and flash the modified firmware which was found in your link. Now I can start the Smartphone. but I have no acces to the SD-Card, but I can see, that the problem seems to be the internal SD-Card.
So now I'll try to use a custom-rom (maybe slim 4.1.2) and try to modify it in that way which was described in your link. If I will succseed, I'll maybe upload the package, or try to store it in the slimrom-area or whatever
By the way:
with speedmod kernel, which is capable of reading that as your Internal SD card

I did not find a option in the speedmodkernel for switching the internal and external SD-Card (K17). But I've try to find that while I have no ext-SD-Card in the phone, so maybe the option was hidden...
Thanks up to now, and best regards,
SP
There is no switch in speedmod kernels but it is designed to read both rfs and ext2/4 formats and partitions as such it will automatically read the available partitions as its internal SD card. And its best to use ICS or Jbean custom ROMs, when Internal SD card is unavailable due to any reason.
good luck on trials and do upload whatever here or on a new thread that may help others solve such issues.
