I assumed under Settings > Controls > S Pen, all of your settings are not configured to "Off"? Are you rooted and may have frozen something or tweaked something to prevent this?
Past software, it could be a hardware sensor on your device where the S Pen enters - I would try changing the tip of your pin (you should've gotten extra tips and a a tweezers tool for removal) and see if that makes a difference.

so, i recently bought this beautifull giant and was surprised, but not positively, when i saw that i can unlock my phone with fingerprint sensor although i didn't assign any of the fingers for unlocking.
i'm thinking it's definitely software bug. got an update as soon as i turned it on, maybe it's because od that? i'll try installing developer rom, maybe it goes away
edit:
ok, i found a way to stop device from waking when touching sensor without having any fingerprint scaned and saved.
you need to have root. go to system/usr/layout and comment out (put the "#" on the beginning of the line) all keys in uinput-fpc.kl and uinput-goodix.kl. i'm not sure if it's needed to comment out on both files but i did, just to be safe
Actually this doesn't sound too bad, you could unlock your phone via fingerprint or just go into lockscreen for music controls, flashlight etc. via powerbutton. The question is whether you set a password for your device or not. If yes then it is a big problem. But even if not I could imagine that you would unlock your phone accidently by touching fp button which would be annoying.

i didn't set password and yes, it's annoying af. i read a bit about this and it seems it's a feature of xiaomi phones with fingerprint sensor -.-
it can be resolved with root, but i need to wait about 60 hours to unlock bootloader and get over with this

Did you manage to fix that? I tried replacing "key 353 DPAD_CENTER" line with "key 353 MENU", and it didn't work (/system/usr/keylayout/Generic.kl). But this (en.miui - thread-567538-2-1.html) guide was for redmi note 4, maybe we have a different key number?

Awesome! Didn't bother checking the bottom ones myself. :good:
Lately the fingerprint scanner won't unlock the phone. There's no vibration indicating wrong fingerprint, it just does nothing. When I unlock the phone using PIN it works fine opening top notification panel or scrolling through photos. When I go to settings and fingerprints manager it recognizes my fingerprints without a problem. Even when I lock the phone it works well for couple of times but after a while it stops working again.
Have anyone had an issue like that?
I already switched the phone off and on again but it changed nothong.
Any advice besides resetting to factory settings?
Thanks for any help
Hey, I have the same problem with my Honor 7. Did you find any solution?

Are u using something like double tap to lock.
If so, disable it.
Otherwise, go to backup and reset, and reset only settings.
I need to disable the lock down, it's really annoying if I can't use my phone up to 30 minutes.
Yes the proximity thing that should prevent it is active, no it doesn't work, there is a small window it accepts input from my pants pocket.
Unfortunately I don't think you can as it's baked in to the Android security protocols. The only way to disable that is to remove the unlock feature. It's odd, though, as mine doesn't have an issue at all. Have you considered it may be a hardware fault?

Not yet, you can test it on your device, cover the upper part with you hand and tap the on/off switch, for half a second you should see the fingerprint accepting input before the message "don't cover the upper part of the device" appears. And thats the whole problem (would'nt need to turn off the lockout if that would work as it should).

I think that your problem might be "smart lock". Just use the search function in settings,go to smart lock and disable On body detection, trusted places and trusted devices...all of those might try to unlock your device...someone had the same problem as you and this was the solution...these are features from Google. Try it and come back with a reply.
No smartlock features active. I know whats trying to unlock my device, its my pants, but it should be prevented by the proximity sensor (but I'm starting to repeat myself).
Hello,
I am getting grainy display(refer attached screenshot) in note 8 but the touch seems to work fine, i am able to wakeup display by double tapping it. i want to know if this is a prob with faulty display or software corrupt issue. This is happened all of sudden when i was using the phone.
I was able to unlock the phone twice by entering the pin by guessing the position of numbers and then when i move the s pen vertically it clears out the grains and shows the home screen, i was able to access settings option but i was not able to access app drawer nor change settings like remove security nor enable usb debugging(i was able to get into the developer options but when i click on the enable usb debugging its not responding for few secs and not enabling the option).
Any help to figure what is happening is much appreciated.
Regards,
jj
After I restart the phone, touch screen does not work anymore.
Now I have to use the mouse to control the mobile.
Is there a secret code or something I can do to reset the touch screen? Or some sensors or anything?
Methods such as restarting again and safe mode did not work. I also tried a total shutdown, then turn it on again, but nothing.
It does not want to work.
Any advice will be helpful.
Hi Hogar315,
Maybe with CIT you know more, which sensors, touchscreen and so on on your phone work/or not...
settings -->my device-->all specification push 4 times (Ore more ) kernel version.
Also you can try to enable the advanced powermenue in the developer settings. If you shot down you can try to go directly in safe mode.
Good luck

Touchscreen on CIT testing does not work
Safe mode does not solve the problem either
What advanced power menu will give me?
Thanks

When you dropped the phone , the force of impact could've caused some internal connector to become loose.
Or it could've damaged the touch digitizer itself.

I do not remember it dropped me... do you think that this could be problem after maybe half a year or even more?
But I was doing restarts pretty often without any problem.
Thanks
