[Q] Integrate system app updates to rom fails in CM11 - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

In CM11, I'll try to integrate system app updates into the rom.
I tried with TitaniumBackup and Link2SD apps, but they fails.
In TitaniumBackup app, the process looks freeze. Progress bar doesn't grow up, and it stuck in the first app.
In Link2SD app, it told me that it did well, but when I restart the device, the apps dissapear.
I have this problem with all apps (like Gmail, Google+, Play Services,...), and I don't know if is a problem with CM, or app bug.
Did you have the same behavior?

Why don't you unzip your rom's file, substite your updates' apks renaming them as at the beginning, and zip all again?
It's a bit complicated, but works for sure

[Q] Apps restore

Is there any program to make backup of apps, but only names (not APKs, not data etc.)?
I want to mass download all my apps, that I had before, but using Google Play.
Hi,
Ultimate Backup provides an option to share your list of installed apps. It can even include the Play Store link and version.

Ultimate Backup is the best .. but titanium backup is not bad
You can try MyBackup but it may be a problem to backup only names. I tried backup only apk. It works but when i tried to load backup on new soft it fall in bootloop. But i think on rooted phone it will work well
but when you restore programs after flashing a new rom it´s possible that you "build" bugs...for example flashing ics and then restore app´s which were installed under gb isn´t so good
If I got it right, then the question was how to export a list of installed apps to be able to install them again from Market. Manually that would be, without a backup of APK or app data.
with appbrain and also with the last relase of Market you can see the storyline of your app installed in your device
Guys, first of all - thanks for replying.
My idea is to "backup" apps without backing up any APKs or data (DO CLEAN INSTALL DOWNLOADING LATEST VERSIONS OF APPS) to prevent any bugs on new ROM.
Elentirmo74, yes, something like that.
So, for now the only solution is to use Appbrain storyline or Google Play Store history.
Play store has a list of all apps you have ever installed across all devices. That sounds like all you need as you can then redownload and install the ones you want.

[Zeus 6.2x] Apps disappearing in Zeus?

Hi,
thorughout the last updates of Zeus, 6.2 through 6.28, I've had apps disappearing from Zeus after the updates.
Some may be related to the fact that they are included in Zeus, like e.g. Titanium Backup. After each update titanium backup disappeared even though I did not install it with the Zeus tweaker tool but regularly through Play store. The Pro-License key "app" was still there.
Also, some apps have broken shortcuts on the homescreens after the updates. Are those the apps that were automatically installed to the SD card?
In the last update (6.28) an app disappeared that had nothing to do with Zeus, some app for local gas prices.
Anybody know what might be the reason for these effects?
Thanks
Jo
I'm not sure if this can be categorized as the same problem but i don't actually have the LG stock clock app on Zeus 6.28
As to the apps like titnium backup, look what is included into zeus 6.28 updater script:
Code:
delete("/data/app/com.adobe.flashplayer-1.apk");
delete("/data/app/com.adobe.flashplayer-2.apk");
delete("/data/app/com.alensw.PicFolder-1.apk");
delete("/data/app/com.alensw.PicFolder-2.apk");
delete("/data/app/com.android.vending-1.apk");
delete("/data/app/com.android.vending-2.apk");
delete("/data/app/com.devuni.flashlight-1.apk");
delete("/data/app/com.devuni.flashlight-2.apk");
delete("/data/app/com.splunchy.android.alarmclock-1.apk");
delete("/data/app/com.splunchy.android.alarmclock-2.apk");
delete("/data/app/com.teslacoilsw.flashlight-1.apk");
delete("/data/app/com.teslacoilsw.flashlight-2.apk");
delete("/data/app/jackpal.androidterm-1.apk");
delete("/data/app/jackpal.androidterm-2.apk");
delete("/system/app/Flashlight.apk");
delete("/system/app/OperaMiniNext.apk");
delete("/system/app/TitaniumBackup.apk");
delete("/system/bin/wmdsi");
delete("/system/build.prop.bak");
.
.
.
You can see, that there are lines couses deleting some system data which is going to be updated, there are also lines deleting some apps data.
More you can see when you open the zip and go to: META-INF\com\google\android\updater-script <- open the file as text and look into it
maybe there is the answer.
It happend to me.. but.. try to unmount your SDCard them mount it or just reboot your OB

Yes, I thought that something like this is happening what you're showing in the script. Haven't had the chance to look at all the different files yet. Thanks for posting.
As far as the other apps go, I always reboot at least once after the device comes up after an update.
The user data of the missing apps still seams to be there when i reinstall (e.g. alarm clock settings of th AlarmDroid), favorite gas stations in the app mentioned above, etc.
It's not a big deal, anyway, but just making sure that those side effects are not something pathologic.

[Q] HOw to install Stock Thinkfree office on CM9

Hi all,
I have a CM9 ROM on my SGS. Before flashing, I saved the apk file of the Thinkfree office suite which came with my stock GB 2.3.6 ROM. I would like to install it to my CM9. Is it possible? I tried but it says "application not installed" without any further information.
Thanks
You can try to push with a file manager the apk in the /system/app

I tried to open it with the ES Manager (which was downloading it somewhere and installing it) but without any success. Will try you suggestion.

Intergrate system app update into ROM

I've following problem: Everytime when I try to Integrate updates of system apps into ROM in Titanium Backup Pro, all these apps will be removed from launcher. I can't access them anymore. Like on uninstall. Any idea how to integrate updates to ROM?
Hi! Did you make restart after integration? For me it is working without problem...

Thanks! It seems, now the app updates are on system partition.

[Q] Insufficient Storage Available.

Okay so before I get told to look at other threads I have, Multiple times and I have tried using the Lucky Patcher but I can't find the 'remove fixes and backups.' option anywhere.
Since I first downloaded it and rooted my phone I have not been able to update Snapchat or even install the Holo Version
This is also happening with other apps such as Facebook but not all.
It downloads fine, I probably have downloaded it 10 times now but it is the Installation where I get the error.
I was fine with this because I didn't care for updates but somehow randomly disappeared.
I didn't have enough room for a backup and I don't know how to install my Nandroid Backup or even where it is in general.
Has anyone got a fix, when I tried lucky patcher I couldn't find the 'remove fixes and backups' under troubleshooting.
There is a possible fix. Use a root file explorer to navigate to /data/app-lib. Find the specific folders for the apps which can be installed and remove those folders. That normally should fix it.

Hello, I know this is an old thread now.
However, I've been having an insufficient storage issue on my Galaxy S3 GTI9300.
It was happening with both Snapchat & Facebook. I tried every suggestion I could find on the web, deleting cache, dalvik, moving apps to external SD card, lucky patcher (no remove fixes and backups option anyway) and blah blah blah, I've deleted everything I dare to from the internal storage, it's now showing 4.65GB available. The only suggestion that half-worked was browsing to my /data/app-lib folder using a file manager and enabling root explorer. I deleted everything I could find for Snapchat and Facebook and for Snapchat, it has worked, I can now install updates from the play store. But for Facebook, the issue persists!
I'm on a custom ROM by the way, called Sentinel ROM V 6.0 (Android 4.4.2).
I'm on the verge of doing a factory reset and installing either this ROM or another custom one from fresh. Is there anything else I can try before doing this?
