windows phone 8 - slow screenshot upload for app1 - Windows Phone 8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm trying to upload app store listing to the WP8 platform. So I have to upload 1 screenshot at a time and then wait for it to "save" it, which is very annoying, do you know any way to batch upload the 8 images at once? I can't do it for 20 apps...
Thank you!

Does anybody use Dropbox?

This is how I have it setup.
The app is installed on my home PC & work PC. I drag and drop any file at either location and it will appear on the other PC. I also use it as a backup service, so my CV etc are stored. If my PC packs up my data is not lost.
So if I want to share a movie with some work colleagues, I drag and drop it into dropbox and home and wallah within seconds it will appear on my work PC. In addition, I have the dropbox app installed on my iPhone (also available on Android), so I can view files on my iphone too. All 3 locations are synchronized. It works very well indeed. Upon registering you get 2GB, but for each referral they credit an extra 250mb. So if anybody would like to try this, and do me a favour at the same time by accepting my referral I would be grateful! Here is the link?
Cheers Guys

[APP] auto-mate (offline edition)

Hey all
Just wanted to let you know that my next app in the auto-mate series is out.
Its called: auto-mate (offline edition)
If you don't know auto-mate is an app for tracking the mpg, mileage etc of your vehicles. I know this has all been done before and there are other apps in the market which do the same but my app has things they all DONT have. My app will:
1) Schedule your services based upon your vehicle usage
2) Allows you to take pics of your cats
3) Looks amazing
If you drive more than £12,000 miles / year this app is invaluable, this app will tell you when you should be booking an oil change or an interim service and because you can see when its going to be due, you can save up for it and not be hit with an unexpected bill.
This version is the offline version, not syncing the data online (which the normal version does and a lot more) allows me to market the app at a really low price
This price is $1.00 or £0.79.
So please, take a look and I will keep adding things all the time.
Now I have to go back to the normal app to make improvements.

Only WP7?
Is there any way that we can get this on Windows Mobile 6.5? It should be possible. WM6.5 phones definitely have all the hardware to do this. So can you please port this to Windows Mobile, or refer me to a similar (obviously not as good, but similar) program designed for older devices?
It would be difficult as windows phone 7 apps run completley under silverlight and reference windows phone 7 api. To make this work on 6.5 would require an almost entire rewrite.
If there is enough support, I will do./
I have purchased the application.
Whenever I go to crop an image for my vehicle, I can select the crop area, I press the crop button and the image dissapears, I press the check mark and program hangs for a couple of seconds before return to the application list (or start screen if I launch the app from there.)
Hi, thanks for the info. This seems to be a device independant issue as it is working on my omnia 7 and another omnia 7 I know.
I have released an update that should help with the issue. This should be on within 5 days. I have tried to catch the issue and send me back the error.

Just sent you an email! Thanks.
Got it, I have the links and will send them when I get home.
Can't wait to try this later!
I sent out the links but they're still showing marketplace errors, keep trying them, I'm not sure why this happens. As a side note, if you'd like to help make this process better go and vote. Allowing developers to update betas would be wonderful.

The beta links are working now, still have open slots email [email protected] if you want to test it.
Thanks.
Gooroovster passed certification and will be available in the marketplace soon.

[APP] - TrackUrSelf -[U]- 16 Jul 2012 1.21 (Fixed)

Name: TrackUrSelf
Having been an avid user of windows phone and a GPS enthusiast, I have always wanted to create an application which use this technology. rather than develop an map application, I decided to use the background agent of windows phone 7 and create an application which tracks your movement. This is very useful for hiking/trekking adventures as well long drives.
This application only tracks the location and displays it on the viewer. The locations are never sent out (other than skydrive backup), so this is not a stalker app
I would welcome your views and feedback on this application.
Changelog:
+ Aerial mode added
+ KML Export/Backup to Skydrive added.
+ Added Live tile with back tile info
+ Background image for the app and skydrive page.. looks better now
+ Fixed a bug, which was not letting you a take a backup without quitting the app.
+ Filename has Date&Time appended, which would enable multiple backups being stored in your skydrive (should have been there in the first place)
+ Fixed crash bug while updating live tile through background services. Forgot about cross access thread exception.
+ Implemented crash log reporter
You would need a developer unlock phone to sideload the application, it does NOT need any interop unlock or full unlock to launch it.

Hi darthveda,
Looks like a nice app, but I wonder how this app will influence your battery life? When hiking you generally do not have wall-plugs at your disposal to charge your battery when needed.
How often does the app store your position?
it's 30 minute interval, pre-defined by WP7. It's a periodic task. I am running it on my system for over 2 weeks now, haven't had major power usage due to this.
Posted new version
Updated with the newer version
The app looks interesting. Is there a way to export the data that is generated?

At this point, NO. The reason is for privacy reasons but will look into implementing this feature in the next update.
As of 1.1, you can now track your position whenever you want apart from 30 minutes interval. And I have made sure not to store the location if it is same as before. Regarding battery usage, I don't have major impact on my battery usage.
Well can store the positions as a log file , and possibly upload the log files , i think it would be incredibly useful to be able to log the coordinates , whether its every 30 minutes or more (less) , just thinking how usefule this info could be!
Ok will implement it, I am not sure if wp7 allows me to write word files if it does then i will write a table in that itself
else a normal csv file would do i guess.
Also, adding the map modes as an option, right now it is street, will enable hybrid, satellite modes as well. This was a suggestion in marketplace reviews
Thanks for the suggestions guys, keep it coming
i used this app yesterday on a small scale , just a few miles and I have to say I like i will continue to test it as this is a unique kind of app!
Thanks Vintage144.. am waiting for MS to approve the app update, don't know why they take so long to do that. After that I will work on 1.2 with the new features requested.
Hi Guys, For Spain winning the euro 2012 , here is my treat.
I have updated the app to 1.2 with the following features:
1. You can now change the map view to Aerial mode and revert back
2. You can now update the tracked locations to a KML file and store it in your skydrive.
Please check and let me know if anything didn't work or you have any suggestions to be made
Size of 1.2 XAP is 0kb upon download mate, might need to re-upload for us? :good:
Size of 1.2 XAP is only 0kb
I downloaded the 1.2 version and it was 550kb, i have re-uploaded the version again with the suffix new in it. Let me know if you still have the problem, will upload on skydrive and share link.
very good....

Works for me. Thankyou
Few days back, I started learning about shelltiles and have implemented a live tile update with a back tile info as well.. (yeah, that's how i learnt WP7 programming, through my apps )
Can you guys tell me if it sounds a good idea and looks good?
Fixed a critical crash bug while updating the tile through background service, forgot about invalid cross acces exception. Because of the crash WP7 was disabling the background agent. Nice feature by the phone took me a while to recognize why it was behaving the way...
Please install the fixed XAP version.

Razr 5G animation on outer display (while phone is flipped open)

Sometime around September 2021 I created an app to display animations on the outer display while the phone is open and then completely forgot about it.
I made it because I missed the CL display of the old razr phones and wished my razr 5g had it.
The app is in a very unfinished state, but I thought someone might find it cool. It doesn't really impact battery life much for me and is at least kind of reliable about showing the logo when waking from sleep.
I have only personally tested it on the XT2071-3 with various versions of android 11, although I have received reports that it works on other generations of razr on a variety of firmware.
Update: I have since rewritten the entire app as of the beginning of 2023. The app is probably still a little unstable but I haven't encountered any bugs while testing it.
Demo (OUTDATED):
Note: this is the old version of the app, I will record a new video when I have the time.
In the video, I used the second half of the boot animation (located at /system/product/media/clibootanimation.zip/02_loop_cli.mp4), but I won't post a download for that since it may be copyrighted. You can very easily extract it yourself using a file manager capable of viewing the system partition (no root required).
I may consider adding an "extract boot animation" button to the app sometime in the future.
90% of the functions in the app don't work (everything should work now)
You have to close and reopen the app to refresh it after adding a video (you no longer have to do this)
There's a bug where you have to select the file relative to Internal Storage since I didn't implement the file selector properly. (I implemented it properly this time)
Notifications will pop up on the external display while the animation is running. (they no longer do so)
The animation still won't won't start after the device boots, but it will immediately start after launching the app.
Even if you aren't having issues with the old version I still urge you to update to this one since it fixes more bugs than I could keep track of.
Download: (see attached)
Note: The new app has a different package name, signature, and app name so you may have to manually uninstall the old app.
As promised I will be posting the source code on GitHub when I have the time, but before I do this I want to clean it up a bit and optimize a few things. You are still welcome to steal the idea and do it better.
Update: there was a bug in the new release that caused the app to crash when enabled on Android 12, it has been fixed in 1.1. I was not aware of this since I've kept this phone on Android 11 until now.
Great work. Nice app!
Would highly appreciate, if u can PM the link to download the edited animation video please.

If I remember correctly it's just a PNG sequence that can be encoded to an mp4 with something like ffmpeg. I pmed it to you
A quick question, is it necessary the device to be rooted to use this app? cos the device is trying to install n then throws an error saying 'app not installed'. Am using a 2071-2 (unlocked at&t version) with stock android 11 rom.

Sorry about that, I didn't export the apk file properly. XDA has been refusing to upload my file for the past 20 minutes, so I uploaded it to google drive here:

No worries. Thank u for the quick update.
Just tried the app! Wow, its just amazing!! Loved it. Thanx again for ur effort bud. Keep up the good work!

sure, the animations are just 800x600 mp4 files. If they are within a certain range of that resolution, the app will resize the video, but it's a little buggy at the moment.
Finnally got it to work; magnificent, really love it; Big thx man
Nice Boss.. You're correct though... Battery life usage be almost nonexistent when you compare it to other things.
Trying to make it work in Motorola razr 2022 bug i cant find the location of the file. Can someone help me please.
Can I please have the edited file to?

I am unsure if this works on the razr 2022, but I'm curious if it does. As I don't have one of these devices I can't tell you where the boot animation is stored if the location has changed.
Use a file manager such as "FX File Explorer" to access the system partition (doesn't require root) and navigate to "/system/product/media/". If the location hasn't changed you should find "clibootanimation.zip" and it should contain a file called "02_loop_cli.mp4". Just using that file should work. If it's not there, please let me know and I will send you the file.
If you manage to get it to work, please let me know as well.
Thx a lot. It works perfect on the razr 2022. It was as you said. With the standard file manage you cant reach the desired file. You have to download a more sofisticated one from the play store. Me happy. And again thx for this wonderfull app.
I'm just gonna leave this here for everyone!
CLI For Moto RAZR Family - Google Drive
drive.google.com
Is that the same type of app that displays smiley pics and say cheese pics on the outer display when using the phone camera flipped open and taking pictures? I did not know my Razr 5G did that until I was taking a group photo and they all started laughing at the pics when I was snapping their photo,
The Animations are very nice,
but Animation doesn t start anytime.
sometimes yes, sometimes no..?
if the programming gets even better, it's very nice. I am using the Razr 5G

Make sure the file is downloaded to the device, and you have to navigate to the specific location of the device using a file explorer, the file selector isn't coded right in the app, as specified by the dev.
