hi there
i have a problem with my lumia 820
why i am calling any ony he tells that he can barely hear me
i have done some searches on web and it seems to be a proble with the second mic which is concerned with noise cancellation
users have be demanding an option from microsoft to make an option to disable noise cancelling feature but in vain!!
so i am asking if any one can create an app or fix to disable the second mic on lumia devices
thanks!
AFAIK 820 has only one mic

Hi
Have been using Resco Audio recorder and Vito Audio Notes to record phone conversation but in both the softwares i could only here my voice clearly and the other persons voice is not audible at all. I have faced this problem on ALL HTC DEVICES but the same software worked amazing on XDA Xing and ATOM. cam someone help me here as to what settings to change or what software to use for proper recording.
Thanks
all of these programs will record if the phone is on speaker.
read the documentations, as some phone do not provide duplex conversations, or something like that.
once you set the call on speaker, all works fine, but it's kind of inconvenient.
yea if i remember correctly, it has something to do with the way that the voice calling was implemented in the device that it will only record your voice.
straight from resco.net from the audio recorder page:
(Both sides recording is hardware dependent. If your recording contains voice of one side only, it is not due to the program's failure.)
On my old PPC6700 mine worked fine with the call volume all the way high, The other person sounded a bit low, but if you want you can edit the call on a PC and make them louder. It all depends how often do you plan to record your convos.
I'm recording both sides without speaker or any other hazzle...
This is what I've done:

Do you really intend to unbury every 1+ year old topic on that subject? I think people got it by now. Make ONE thread with full relevant info, that will do it.
Hi
I need help regarding in call recording both ways i bin using Touch HD with vito software to record conversation which helped me a lot in remembering directions andso on.. but they don't have software for android so i like to know does DHD have a hardware capability to record calls and if can which is the best software because i install call recorder by killer mobile which is useless to record both sides conversation even one side.
any one suggest good software.
Found no working app so far. All known apps record through microphone which is equal to not working.
About 12 months ago i was looking for the same app for my Hero. There was one available but it required root. The phone was new so i didnt want to root and start messing with stuff like that ( mainly cos i was new to android)
I never tested the app, cant even remember the name- it could just be a red herring.
It's amazing to know there is no app for Android to record in call recording.

Most, if not all htc phones are incapable of recording calls, as the hardware does not allow for it. It's highly likely the HD follows this trend and is incapable of recording a call.
The only workaround would be to run a recording app, and then enabling the speaker phone feature of the phone to record the conversation.
Ive found apps that record, but only through the mic and speaker, so incoming voice is quiet and far off, but outgoing(you) is quite good, better than nothing I guess.
Called TotalRecall I think, I uninstalled it though
hi im new owner to dhd please any news about which app do the job well as in call recorder for hd2 activated for both sides without beep ,thanks in advance, hopefully xda will do that?
For htc hd2 dutty's rom have full working in call recorder in last 4 roms.
Come on.. make this happen! Everybody whants it.. Make it an app which costs 50$ and people still wants it!
After using the one at home over the speakers to talk i must say thats the only bad thing about this phone.
The speak quality is poor and you have an consistent noise/hissing on the htc one side in background out of the speakers. The part on the other side told me i sound unnatural like i stand in a big empty room without furniture..tinny like.
As good as the speak is when you do it normaly at your ear as big it fails over the speakers....and thats inapprehensible cause the speakers are wonderful in playing music or videos...
Have anybody else this problem? When yes can it be a software problem? Or is it only my phone...
reviewees said speaker is excellent even using it on phone calls. have you tried using it on a open area or where signal is great? Or try using LTE when calling. Or that must be your network doing audio compression on phone calls?
Dude if it is a network problem don't you think the speech was also terrible when calling on ear and not with external speakers only?
LTE i not have but LTE is only for internet speed my friend, not for call quality. What i try are different simcards from different providers and call different users, the speaker has this noisy sound in the background on all cards with all callers...
Yes, i try different areas but it is not the provider, i have with the same provider at the same location with note 2 no probs, the sound from the external speaker of the note 2 are better at phone calls as from the one...
Only time I use loudspeaker in a phone call is if I'm on hold and don't want to hold the phone to my ear, so thankfully not a big deal.

I have this problem too if i do a selfmade video with the camera in a silent room and play it on the one...the noise is existent in all the time of that video. If i play it on the pc the noise is gone...
So i think it will be a problem for you too
Let's just hope it is a software problem buddy. As far as I know reviewers have tried it and never mentioned such problem. Are there any updates on your phone? Or have you tried flashing it with a different firmware version at the very least?
Also could you try the same through VOIP like skype and try also a sound recorder on your phone. And see if the problem persists.
No Dude, no new firmware to flash. And for now no rooting, that comes later when i know all is fine with the phone...
this happen with htc one x with original rom, with cm10 it not happens...I think its a drivers related :S

Click to collapse
Can't turn them down low enough! The margin between off and first increment is too big. Might need a third party app to quieten further

Hello everyone!
Not sure if it's been posted before, but there's a relatively big batch of Lumia 930 devices that have microphones that short circuit after a while. It's heavily discussed in this topic on Windows Central and I'm also a victim of it.
What happens is that 2 of the 4 mics (mostly at the back) on the 930 suddenly don't work anymore. Therefor the device can't record any sound while filming in Windows Camera (W10M), Whatsapp, Voice recorder, etc. Those apps use only the two back microphones. The front microphones are disabled or are used to cancel noise by default. When calling, the bottom front (still working) microphone is used.
Is there a hack that could make it possible to use the other (front) microphones on the phone to record sound while filming? Like a "use all microphones" hack? Or maybe a tweak to disable noise cancellation?
I checked in several forum if there is any solution to the problem , but almost all ask to take the appliance to a technical assistance .
My phone is no longer under warranty , the repair value is too expensive (better buy a new one)
But I'm thinking about changing the microphone , I saw that there are websites selling like this user ( brittech14) on Ebay.
Anyone know if replacing the microphone solves the problem ?
Also looking for an answer to this problem if it is either possible to disable mic 3&4, force apps to use mic 1&2 instead of 3&4 or a way to fix this by disassembly.
Would really appreciate if someone knows more about fixing this issue.
Hi,
The only way to solve mics problem is replacing them. Changing the mics functionality through software hacking is impossible. Since, the Lumia 930 has two product code, RM-1087 and RM-1045 (the latter is popular), as a small chance (but risky) you can try the firmware of RM-1087 on your device (Download Links).
Having the same issue with a phone that is out of warranty, curious if there is any solution, registry edit, tweak, etc. to remap 3rd and 4th mics to the working 1 and 2...
Fortunately, some of HW issues such as mic problem are supposed to be fixed in future w10m updates, probably RS2.
does not solve problem, just replaced the microphone still does not work
Friends... My note 8 mic stopped to work.
In some calls... I can ear the person who is calling but they cant ear me.
Have the latest software installed. Nougat.
Should i wait for oneui to came out in March for Portugal?
Can anyone help me?
Thanks in advance.
In my experience, I have had some issues like you describe, but I have found, in my case that they are most surely carrier-related, as they have happened since the days of my old beloved S3
Try using a different Cell Provider's Sim card and see if that works better. If it does then it is an issue with your Cell Provider, you woudl haev to contact them and ask them to resolve it.
Hi guys
I have a galaxy note 8 with a bad mic (the upper one) it just record static, but the lower one is working well... When I'm on a call or recording a video the audio is very bad due the defective microphone is used for noise suppression, anyone know how to disable the upper microphone? Or set the source for just the lower one?
