CWM-based recovery that supports Cyandelta - LG Optimus 4X HD

Hi,
I have to ask if there's any CWM-based recovery that is open source so it is compatible with Cyandelta, for automatic OTA updates.
I have searched and found nothing, I am using CWM 6.0.4.4 ported by laufersteppenwolf and it doesn't work.
PS: If someone uses Cyandelta with TWRP, can you confirm if it works?
Thanks in advance

[Q] Change recovery to TWRP

Hello there... i'm new on this device (SGS i9000). i updated my firmware to CM 10.1. I understand that when i update to JB, the rom updates my recovery to CWM 6. i am trying to change it to TWRP without success. My methods are 2:
1) i download a flasheable zip with the TWRP recovery. I flash it through CWM but when i reboot into recovery again, there is CWM, no TWRP.
pd: CWM didn't indicate me any error during the flash of the zip. it says that it were successful.
2) i flash the recovery image through flash_image using the terminal. it says that it was successfully wrote in the recovery partition.
i guess there's an script that reflash CWM recovery in every boot but i am not sure. If i'm correct (or not) what do i have to do to to flash TWRP permanently?
sorry for my bad english
Both Mackay and Latrop kernel have TWRP, and Devil Kernel has TWRP as an option.

It still is the latest working version of TWRP for our device Xperia T (mint).
I tried 2.8.1.0, 2.8.3.0 and 2.8.4.0 when flashed these versions I can't boot into recovery and it keeps bootlooping the recovery.
I can boot into system without problem, the only solution to get into recovery again is by flashing the latest working 2.8.0.1 again into the FOTA kernel.
Already contact teamwin to let them know that there is something wrong with building TWRP from 2.8.0.1 and further, but still no luck on a reply.
it doesn't work on my xperia t
i have root permission and unloacked bootloader but it doesn't work
it downloads the recovery and install it but when it's reboot it doesn't work.
i have already install other recovery but nothing (
if i flash a cwm with flashtool works only recovery and none the os.
please help me, now i ave 4.1 kitkat, i'm italian

Like you can see in my previous comment you need to download the TWRP version 2.8.0.1 because that is the only version that is working for now.
You can do this easily with installing the app: TWRP Manager (ROOT) findable in play store and then use a theme for TWRP and you have a splendid recovery.
Theme is findable: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/themes/theme-twrp-materialised-dark-light-play-t2915584
TWRP is the best recovery I've tested so far, except the latest version wont work for the moment on our Xperia T.

TeamWin for the WIN! The new version 2.8.5.0 that yesterday made available for our Xperia T is working without a problem! I just flashed the new .img on my FOTA kernel and could boot into recovery.
I updated the old zip to the latest version and attached it to my post.
problem flashing gapps 5
i flashed CM12 on my xperia T using the recovery mod that came in the boot.img inside the cm12 build, and then the GApps 5
everything was fine except for a small bug in which some apps couldn't detect the sd
i decided to do a clean install, but this time i installed TWRP and performed the data wipe/factory reset and flash using it
i got the TWRP manager, and installed the version 2.8.5.0
i booted into recovery, wiped data, flashed cm12, reboot into system, reboot into recovery, flashed gapps, wipe dalvik/cache, reboot into system and the GApps keep crashing all the time.
I tried all the GApps available, the 5 packages of PA GApps, and all the basket team GApps 5 i could find and all crash
i decided to flash cm11 and GApps 4 and it works perfectly, and if i flash CM12 itself the system works, it's the gapps that have problems
it must be a recovery mod problem then
Why i can't install any lollipop rom on mint
my recovery is Twrp 2.8.5..0
Hello to everyone, can anyone tell me how to install the twrp, I'm new with xperia and Idon'thave any idea of how is it going, I had samusng and motorola and was so easy. But there I heard "adb shell", "FOTAKernel", thing that make me confused.. On samusng there is a Odin tool, and on XPERIA -Flashtool? The phone is XPERIA T (LT30P), is rooted with bootloader unlocked.

Thanks very much for this! Great work! That is really nice that there is now official support for awifi/v500.
I assume the images are bumped?
Are the kernel sources for official twrp using your kernel sources?
Sources
This is the device repo for awifi/v500: https://github.com/TeamWin/android_device_lge_v500
The kernel in awifi/v500 repo was compiled from here, which is V50030A based.
This is the device repo for palman/v510: https://github.com/TeamWin/android_device_lge_palman
The kernel in palman/v510 repo is from 5.1 official build.
So, now we should be able to just flash the .img file directly within TWRP to update.

Yes!
The repo for v510 is going to be renamed since it doesn't need to follow the "cyanogen" way, which is using the model name instead of the device name. That's why there is a little confusion with the names v500/awifi and v510/palman. The GPE repo will be named palman (which is the correct way) and the non GPE repo will stay as v500 (it should be called awifi), since almost every custom rom uses "cyanogen" way. If we wanted the non GPE to be named correctly we would need the devs of every custom rom to add an assert to their boardconfig so both, v500 and awifi, would be valid at installation time. It's just one line change.
Do we need to have TWRP recovery already flashed or can I just flash this recovery in the stock 20D with root?
Do we only need root access and flash the recovery using the TWRP manager from Play Store in stock 20D?
fefifofum, firstly, thanks for making an official TWRP for the V510.
Secondly, can you please enable backup of recovery partition?

There are three ways to install TWRP explained at the installation details. Two of them require root and the third one requires twrp >= 2.8.4.0. Choose the one that is easier for you, they all should work.

I could try, but it needs to go through gerrit. Why would you need to backup recovery partition?

It's not strictly needed, but good to have for completeness. For example, if I flash a new version of TWRP and then find that's there a bug, I could just restore the previous version from backup. Of course, I could always just use fastboot or flashify to flash the old version, but it's nice to have the option.

I know, but I just want to be shure that this time I don't brick the tablet.
So you confirm that when we are stock with version 20D we just need root access? It's not necessary anymore a loky exploitable aboot?
Sorry for being a pain in the ass!
EDIT: Thank you @fefifofum for your work
I have installed the TWRP manager and selected install TWRP. Which version should I flash? The latest 2.8.1.0? And the twpr - awifi. img or the openrecovery - twrp - awifi. img?
I'm on stock 20d version with root. Thanks in advance.

Old versions will still be available to download, so if a new version had issues you could always download and install an older version. No need to backup recovery I guess...

It looks like TWRP manager didn't update the images for the gpad. I will talk to them so they fix it and remove the old images, there should only be one version available: 2.8.6.0. Until then, please use the "dd" installation method.

I think I'll wait for the TWRP manager update.
EDIT: Couldn’t wait and tried the dd method. For the first time, after thousands of attempts, I have the TWRP installed in the tablet!

Glad to hear that! It seems the app TWRP manager cannot reach the new servers where official builds of TWRP are, so it's better not to use the app installation method to avoid installing old versions.
@fefifofum thanks a lot!!! I'm using slim alpha 4, what bootloader should I flash to solve the backlight problem? Thanks again
Pd: use rashr app to flash twrp, download .img and flash from internal memory, no problems. Don't use twrp manager.

This one is official (without the quotes), doesn't require loki and is adapted to kitkat bootloader backlight. The other one you mention is adapted to jellybean bootloader backlight and requires loki. Just install the one that fits your needs.

Update to Marshmallow - Which ROM and how when TWRP is installed?

Hi everybody,
currently the Lenovo K3 Note runs with Android 5.0 K50a40_S121_150813_ROW (Kao-Alpha2).
OTA provides K50a40_S121_150813_ROW_TO_K50a40_S322_160314_ROW but when downloading the update and confirming the installation phone ends up in TWRP without any further action. I can try to search the downloaded file and install it from TWRP but I did not find it.
When trying to update this file from TWRP by renaming it to update.zip and moving it to the phone update fails with message: unmount of /data failed (-1): Invalid argument script aborted: This package is for "Lenovo K50a40" devices; this is a "Lenovo K3 Note" Error executing updater binary in zip ... Error installing zip file
Does anybody know why this is failing?
Additionally I found within web K50a40_S205_151118_ROW_TO_K50a40_S422_160315_ROW.
Now I am puzzled which ROM version is the correct one? Does anybody by chance know? Could not yet find any information regarding this topic within WWW.
Also I am struggling to get into TWRP by myself. When phone is off and I press volume up and power key I only end up in chinese ROM where I cannot read anything. Can I install OTA version from there? And how can I get into TWRP if wanted?
There are no enhanced reboot menu options and key combination mentioned only brings chinese recovery version up.
Any help appreciated.
Bye
The OTA package can be installed by stock recovery only.
To update the rom using twrp you have to download the full rom.
Sent from my Lenovo A7000-a using Tapatalk
Use flashify from play store to get into twrp it has option to reboot into recovery
Thanks for your responses.

But TWRP recovery does not work for installing the OTA update! Is there any way to get into stock recovery which is english (I could enter into some stock mode after switching on - but its chinese only)?
If your rooted and have twrp then follow this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/k3-note/development/official-build-lenovo-k3-note-k50a40-6-t3370537.
If not rooted use KingRoot on PC it worked for me

Thank you (and sorry for that very late reply). I finally managed to install ROM from above mentioned link (was no prio task for quite a long time).
Unfortunately SMS is gone (not existing within that ROM) and not OTA update is shown.
In addition I also cannot install the downloaded OTA version - the same error still occurs: "This package is for "Lenovo K50a40" devices; this is a "Lenovo K3 Note" Error executing updater binary in zip" => so installing the Stock variant from mentioned thread did not help unfortunately!
Is the version from above link already the lastest one? Any ideas, hints, etc.?

[Q] change cm-recovery to twrp?

Hi all,
I am still running cyanogenmod 12 on my ZR and what want to update soon to lineage 14.1 therefore I would like to know if it's possible to update with the cm recovery or if twrp might be the better choice.
If twrp is recommend, what would be easiest way to change cm-recovery to twrp?
Does this work with twrp installer from Google play? Or anybody tried rashr - flash tool?
Thanks for your help
I finally got the solution and it might be helpful to others with the same problem. Big thanks to @Røbin. The solution is actually pretty straightforward and deadsimple.
- do a full wipe (wipe data/ factory reset) in cm recovery
- flash the newest flashable twrp image
- reboot and go into new custom recovery
- flash the newest lineage zip
- have fun
