I know this has been discussed before and I have Googled. And searched. But it seems it was discussed that long ago it's hard to find. Is it safe To take the screen protector off that came on the Xperia z without it effecting. It been waterproof or anything? Thanks.

It shouldn't affect water resistance.
its not advised to take off the original shatter proof protector!

So far I only took off the back

Original protector is shatter protection you have to apply scratch protection on top of it and you can change those

I'm quite sure I'm going to take the default screen protector off soon but I'm just wondering if it effects how the Z works with water on screen. For example I'm able to spatter the screen with water, like rain, and still navigate menus and type. Will I still be able to do this?

Thank you, but I'm already following that thread, I'm asking something different.
I don't mean whether I might break the waterproof seal, but whether the bare glass works as well with raindrops on as with the protector.

Hello,
After some weeks with my Xperia Z I found out the front screen had a pre- installed protector. Now that's not where the trouble is because I got some scratches at the back unfortunately
So my question is: is there also an pre- installed protector at the back? And if so, is this back protector also printed with the Xperia logo and the other stuff?
Thanks in advance
Yes, there is a back protector which can be peeled off.And no, the XPERIA logo will not be removed

That's good to read
Do you recommend peeling it of?
And does the screens scratches lesser after removing it?
I would say leave it there till it scratches alot and then peel it off.And no, the back will be hard to scratch after you peel the protector off, but hey, , better safe than sorry

Hi guys,
What type of screen protector is pre-installed in our V? Because the water does not stick with the screen. I will replace my screen protector because of scratches hehe Thanks.

The original one is shatter-proof sheet. And it provides mediocre protection IMHO. It's very likely to scratch that's why I took it off and installed Zagg's screen protector. But be careful! If you want to take your protector off, you WILL lose Sony logo as it's printed on the protector!
Tapped from The Bond Phone!
So your phone has no Sony logo anymore?

Yes. Same as me. However I installed Zagg invisibleSHIELD and removed it after a week due to its rubbery feeling. (It's also not dust resistance) Living in Singapore, a dusty city, will cause my invisibleSHIELD to get very dusty and cause my screen to be less responsive. I recommend you to remove it and install those Clear/Glare-proof screen protector.

what if i install a new screen protector on the original one ? what are the consequences ?
I think there are no consequences. It totally depends on you what you will do.
Is there anyway we can but the screen protector with the sony logo.. Mine doesn't have sony logo anymore

Today I dropped my phone for the first time
The so called aluminum frame was instantly damaged and to my surprise it was paint that chipped off.
Underneath there is just a hard kind of plastic.
I looked all over the place for a replacement frame but can't find any.
Anyone else with this problem?

First of all, greetings to everyone on this forum, this is my first post here.
I have a black Xperia SP (C5303), and have the same problem. Mine dropped on the street from my hand and although was in his leather casing, somehow dropped on the only side without protection. Was very suprised when I saw that 'alumium' frame was very damaged (damage looks like on your phone) from dropping only 1+ m of height inside of a protection case. The good news is that nothing else was damaged.
The phone is great for my needs, but I'm still not convinced with quality of aluminium frame. Probably this is the price of his weight. Before had Samsung Galaxy S Advance and dropped him accidently only once but without even a scratch.
I was very upset with the damage, but because of its black color it is not as visible as on your white model, so for now I won't be searching for a replacement frame... Hopefully won't be dropping him too much.
Greetings.
Yep it happens, even when I am charging, when the charger scratches the coat on the port, the paint will be chipped off.
Luckily I bought a black one, and the problem is not so bad and visible.

Quite a disappointment. My previous sony phones where solid as a rock.
It looks easy to remove though with the two screws. What you guys think

What about using nail polish of similar color, or a car paint and small brush?
Looks like you kicked it down the street!

I think it only happens to white models, on a Spanish forum there is another user with the same problem (paint chipping off)
http://www.htcmania.com/showthread.php?t=668090
Now I regret choosing the white model, I have paint chipped off around the data cable port, stereo out, and also around power button :crying:
There are replacement frames on ebay for like 10$.
Link please

Look at this http://www.ebay.it/sch/i.html?_sacat=0&_from=R40&_nkw=replacement+xperia+sp&LH_PrefLoc=2&LH_BIN=1
Thanks a lot for the link. Not sure if I dare to replace it though. Kind of need a disassembly video first...

I recommend using a good soft case like the one below.

Same problem in my Spanish SP... Shouldn't this be solved by Sony? aluminium frame is not made of aluminum, isn´t it?
I have also the same problem on my SP. is it normal?? Sony has to replace our frame with a better one.
I'm very disappointed with this ****ty paintjob, my hpone is barely 1 month old and it already got chipped paint on a several spots on the frame. I thought the frame was aluminium because every review I've read said so.... even if it wasn't aluminium, the paint shouldn't have come off so easily. i read sony used water-based paint, maybe that's why.
Could anyone who has removed the shatter proof film tell me if there have been any screen improvements because I have a feeling it could be the film that could cause issues(yellow tint)?..
Also most people say that the displays are the same in most of the z1's(JDC I think) so it could just be the shatter proof film which causes screen degradation?..

What I can tell is this:
I removed ASF before even turning it on. (I use liquid glass shild)
- on .518 it was beautifully tuned
- .534 which I was just briefly on, was super yellow
- .257 Something in between the two earlier ones
I think some of all the complaints surfacing can be attributed to this, and not just "faulty units"
What do you mean by "screen degradation" when talking about the ASF?
By degradation I mean that it could just be the asf which has the yellow tint and/or reduces overall brightness
