Hey all. I just rooted my phone last night, and I'm wondering about doing backups. I haven't done backups before, and doing research everything seems to require an unlocked bootloader. I just rooted using SMM, and I have a phone through AT&T. What do I have to do to make full backups?
As always, thanks!

the only backups you can make is if you install safestrap. when you rooted your device it replaced your recovery. for unlocked BL they can flash twrp to make backups with. for locked bootloader you must install safestrap found over on the rootz wiki. that is the only "full backup" that you can create. you can now use titanium backup if you don't want to install SS. it won't create a full backup but it is the closest to a full backup that you can create without installing SS
Thanks for letting me know. I was looking at titanium, and I'll check that out for full backup. If you use titanium, do you recommend the pay for version?

The paid version TiBu is worth it. It shall not disappoint.

YES...able to do more.. Freeze apps (make them disappear from app tray and system but able to reactivate them if needed) and make app backups.

The application called "Sticky Memo" has been taken off the market and I still have it. The thing is I want to root my phone, and since it requires wiping I need a way to keep the application after I root.
Is there any possible way without already having root?
Maybe Titanium Backup?
Would Astro work in this case?

but Titanium backup needs root...
...doesn't it?
I just bought my first Android phone, and I want to root it, but before rooting you need to make a backup, of course.
I downloaded titanium backup and installed it, but it tells me it won't work because my phone is not rooted !
Backing up clearly comes first, so what can I use to do that, OR how can I use Titanium backup (which seems like the best backup app out there) on an unrooted phone?
Thanks

I see one click root, etc, for this phone. I also see the scripts for removing bloatware.
How safe and stable is this software at this point? What are the chances of bricking this phone or getting it stuck in a BL?
Do we have a sbf yet?
Pretty safe. Yes there's SBF for XT862.
The root & script methods are pretty solid too
cool cool, just nervous to root my brand new phone and remove the bloat. You say its safe I'll take your word.

It was the first thing I did after charging my droid 3 (and I can't send it back because I'm in Europe)
I did:
1) Run one-click root
2) Make nandroid backup
3) Run debloat script
All went 100% smooth and I was done in 15min and I'm android noob
Well most roms get rid of a lot of bloatware. But i personally dont run those "scripts" i just use an app called titanium backup. U can freeze apps, make backups for them etc. Its the safest bloat removal option in my opinion. Have fun rooting!

You have to buy the paid version. Well worth it in my opinion. I used it on my Samsung Captivate. Not one Android phone should be with out it.
Sorry if this is noobish, I came from a droid incredible and this is my first motorola. Is an sbf file similar to an RUU file? RUU basically flashed everything, system files, radio etc. Basically, it brought you back to stock just like the day you bought it.

Hi,
do you guys know any good app to do a backup of my non rooted non unlocked Razr I? I'd like to root and unlock it, but I don't want to lose all my data.
Carbon does not work. What did you use?

Try this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rerware.android.MyBackup&feature=search_result
There are some solutions for backup to the PC too.
Thanks!
But it looks like it does only do a backup of the apk files. Is there any app which includes the app's data to a backup? I do not want to play all my games again :/

Ok. As far as I know you have solutions for backup/restore without rooting only for PC. But that shouldn't be a serious problem. The only important thing is to have ability to restore your apps and data. Look at this: http://www.addictivetips.com/android/backup-android-devices-to-pc-without-root-or-bootloader-unlock/
Hello guys, I am writing because I need some advice. Since HTC has abandoned this smartphone, I decided to root it to my girlfriend and install a custom rom updated. The only major problem is that of data of the app: my girlfriend plays a lot with smartphone and would not want to lose the progress made in all these games. I would then do a backup with titanium, but unfortunately only works with the root. So I wanted to know if there is a method to rootare the phone leaving all data intact and original ROM, in order to make a backup with titanium and then install the new custom rom. If so, how? Thank you very much!
Rooting won't lose any data or apps. You can go ahead and root it first, then use titanium backup. =)
you are sure? I have to make the unlock of the bootloader ...

Hi guys!
I have a problem but it's not related to the Moto x.. I'm not sure it's the right place to ask this question!
I made a full backup with go backup pro, updated my Moto x and wiped data. Then I've copied back the go backup folder and tried to restore the data: I've managed to restore only app without the data! My Moto x is rooted.
I really don't understand why I can't restore data app!
Thanks for your help guys
I would see if Go had a website for support.
And then after, I'd uninstall it and stick to Titanium backup pro. It's number one for a reason.
