[Q] New Settings from Google OTA?

Hey,
Just noticed this. Havent installed this from play store...
New Settings App from Google over the air in the background?
In my Note 2 , I dont have this actualy....

@edit: Have stock 4.2.2 rooted

I just booted up my device and it was there. It wasn't there like 1 hour ago.

I'm not even on stock aosp.... I'm on paranoid android right now. It seems to be just a shortcut for settings of other apps.

Just flashed a custom 4.2.2 N7 rom and sure enough, it's there - interesting enough, it's showing up also on my HTC DI2 running GingerBread (custom rom written over a year ago,) no prompt or option to cancel/postpone or decline, just auto-updated (except that it did not have the Location & Search sub-menu like the N7)
Suffice to say - easily integrated without crashing or freezing, enhancement across the board for all Google devices ... I think. :highfive:

The icon looks very unattractive. Now my app drawer has 3 similar icons side by side that are blue (Google Search), green (Google Settings), and red (Google+)

Yeah, it's for the new Google+ sign-in. You will be able to sign into apps with your Google account once devs integrate it.

I am looking for a way to turn notifications off automatically during night hours on stock ROM.
Is there any option in Sense 5?
Looking for not installing other apps. I've purchased Sound Profiles in the past for earlier phones, but with AOSP etc I stopped using other apps and was looking for inbuilt options in the ROM.

I haven't seen an option, but I didn't look to thoroughly. I use Tasker to accomplish that.

I know I could use multiple additional things...
HTC - if yo aure listening, this should be a must..

Gear not showing notifications

Hi all,
Just purchased a Gear to go with my S4, it does not seem to be receiving any notifications, email etc.
Can anyone help please, is there a step by step idiots guide out there

Have you installed the gear manager?

1. install gear manager. You can find it on samsung.com or in the samsung apps on your s4
2. try to connect the gear
3. ones connected, look if all the notifications are enabled in gear manager on your s4.
4. If 1-3 is done, and still no notifications, your phone or your gear has a problem. But i think, it will not be the case.

And make sure that your screen is off when the notification comes in or it won't go through to the gear

No use. You still need touchwiz

Samsung Gear
I did it with the Touchwiz probiert.Es go since only the functions as in the Nova launcher.
The contact list, call history, photos and video go.
unfortunately the weather dates is not displayed.
Also there is no way Whatsapp add to it.
I use the custom firmware: Elegancia 19

CM11 Note 3 and Gear Manager

I was wondering if anybody has a note three and install the new CM 11 and I was wondering how gear manager in the features work. Like notifications

Iv experimented with this a little.
The strange thing is there's absolutely no activity when notifications are received on the phone using CM11 in regards to pushing to the gear. No errors nothing !
The APK used to detect if a notification comes in installed no problem.. its quite strange.

Yes @fOmey I have also experimented with it the only ones I could not get installed by titanium backup from a TouchWiz rom was the apk for s voice and weather. Also I got a few force closes after I reboot but it runs pretty fine I was actually surprised it was as easy as a titanium backup

you can download the seperate apk from the gear manager to install them individually. This way you should be able to get everything to work on a custom rom. NOTE weather and media controller DOESNT install in my experience so these features will not work

Impossible.. I tried 2 days ago and had no luck..

I did the same as you, I even had a load of tests with frameworks and whatever. I'm no advanced android developer, but afaik, isn't possible to make this work without the whole thing together, unless someone makes the touchwiz framework works in some AOSP rom.

Is "Hide navigation bar per app" still there?
Hi, I've just bought the LG GFlex today. My D955 comes with JB 4.2.2.
I do really love the feature that let me hide the navigation bar per app, I find it extremely useful.
I'm really curious to know whether this setting is still available into the new KitKat update.
Reading that the LG G Pro 2 having already KitKat doesn't have it, although it has a software nav bar, I'm wondering whether this feature is incompatible with KitKat due to its full screen API.
Those of you who already updated their GFlex can please answer this question?

I'm curious as to if google wallet tap and pay finally works. I may be completely mistaken, but on KitKat, I don't believe you need the secure element like you did on older android versions. Not having tap and pay is one of my few complaints about this phone.

I just updated my F340K to 4.4 and now I get a google error in each boot, "com.google.services.gapps has halted". I tested several solutions like clear cache, clear google data, also removed my google account from mobile phone and still appears.
anybody with same problem?.

I'm replying to myself, the problem comes from swiftkey app (swipe keyboard), after unistall it the error message gone. Maybe a compatibilty issue with KitKat.
I left the solution here for further reference.

Crap. I miss that coming from my old Galaxy Nexus. I figured as soon as I got on a carrier phone, it would be blocked because they have that worthless pile of garbage Isis as their own.

kitkat update, looking good
Got my kitkat update yesterday (I'm in the UK with an f340 model). Things I've noticed so far:
Text does look sharper (different font?).
Home screen now available in portrait.
Better way of handling apps in full screen (before there was a small arrow at the bottom of the screen to show the soft keys if you'd chosen to hide them for selected apps. Now you swipe up to show the soft keys - definite improvement).
You can hide the volume and/or brightness sliders in the notification pull down.
You can now say OK Google when you launch Google by swiping up the home key.
Signal strength, and other information in the status bar at the top are now white/light grey (I've already forgotten if they were green before!)
Love this phone!
