Thread title says it all. All other notifications are working as they should on the Gear, with just a slight delay behind the notification on my stock Note 2. Notifications for text messages, however, take considerably longer (I've never timed them, but I'm guessing it's about 20 to 30 seconds). Save for a brief flirtation with Hangouts as the SMS app, I've never used anything other than Sammy's messaging app. Anyone else have the same problem and know of a fix?
Probably because when you receive a text message the screen turns on and the gear won't receive the message till the phone screen turns off..

Oh, kee-rist, yes, I have a pop up notifier that I only use with SMS, and it has a setting to wake on notification and not time out the screen for, yes, 20 seconds. Many thanks.

I have a rooted i896 running Cognition v2.3b6. Now by default, when I used the sms app, the time listed for text messages that i receive are 5 hours in the past (at 945pm i received an sms, but the time listed under the text was 445). Because when I my text messages that are sent with the proper time, so in the text message thread my text messages are always first and my recipients texts appear always before in the thread.
I what I didnt was I changed my time zone to account for the 5 hour gap.
So after I did this, most of the text message appear in order except for messages that are sent/received in the same minute. For texts send during the same minute, my sent always appear after even if it is sent before.
I read on these forums that this is a problem with time stamping of the text from the carrier or something, but there was not explanation on how to fix this.
Is anyone else having this problem and found out a way to fix it?

You can download an app called "Sms Time Fix" and put it to adjust by 5 hours. You can also download "Handcent" or another 3rd party messaging app and the time will be correct.
I had a very similar problem. After i got my phone unbricked and loaded the latest version of cognition onto the phone the timestanps were five hours off. I am now using handcent and have no probles whatsoever with the timestamps.
Don't forget to go into tibu and "freeze" your original sms program that came stock with the phone.

okay this maybe a dumb question but its sure is annoying. Whenever i get an email the phone led light start to blink and the Email Notification Sound play like it should, but after 10 minutes it plays again and again. Like if i don't touch the phone it will ding every 10 minutes.
Its not an event reminder or alarm as email sounds are very different then anything else and only happens when i don't touch my phone. Like i got an email late last night and it kept dinging all night long until i unlocked the phone and cleared the notification.
Its super annoying, It just play the email notification sound and then let the led blink for 10 minutes but not play notification sound sound every 10 minutes.
Does anyone know how to stop this?

Open you HTC mail client (app drawer and select Mail), hit the menu button > More > Settings (then select your email account) > Notification settings
Now you can uncheck Notification sound
Will it still ding when i first receive the email, I want the sound to play the first time but not every 10 minutes.

Unfortunately, this will take out the sound altogether.
yeah thats what i thought, you guys don't find this weird about the phone?
not sure about the native HTC email program.. but here's how to achieved what you're after using GMAIL appz
/ open up Gmail
/ menu button
/ More-->>Settings-->> Account Settings-->> [email protected]
/ Scroll down to "Labels to notify"
/ select "inbox" then a pop up notification settings box will appear
/ There is an option at the bottom for "notify once"
That will do it
when a new email arrived... you'll get a notification... you get to choose to have SOUNDS/VIBRATE...etc
and subsequence mail arrival won't have any more sounds
Just curious what ROM you're running that's giving you this issue?
Sent from my HTC Vivid 4G using xda premium
I sent an e-mail to my G-Mail account. When it came it, I left it alone to see what would happen. As described in another post, the alert sound occurred only one time. The LED flashed for a while but eventually stopped. I confirmed that the G-Mails allowed a once only notification.
I have had situations occur, but not always, where I will get alerts from both G-Mail and the native HTC e-mail app. However, it did not occur this time. So, I can't say for now what the native e-mail account will do.
I'm running stock ROM and have not had consistent email notifications. I have it set to sound every time I receive an email. But I may hear it only once for several emails and then once for every email received. I may also get a sound for emails that I don't seem to have received.
Just one of those things.
I'm running stock rom and using the native htc email app
Not to mention, it gets frustrating after habitually only reading the SMS from the lockscreen notification.
Any way to change the email notification sound?

Changing it is specific to the application you are using. Check the settings for the application in question. I'm using the Gmail app. The settings for each account has an area for changing the sound and frequency.
Was this issue solved?

For a regular (non-gmail) account (which uses the stock Mail app), I could not find where to set it's specific notification sound... BUT, everything else has its own notification sound setting (GMail, WhatsApp, Text Messaging), so I just go into phone Settings, Sound, and pick a notification sound there (which will play when I get an email in my regular mail). All the other apps have their own sounds assigned, so I guess technically, my Mail has its own sound.
It is under personalize click the sound tab email is there

SNAP. That is so simple. I suck. LOL
Also under the mail app you need to go under settings notification and check the box that says play sounds too

my email notifications work perfectly, but my text notifications are so erratic that I'm considering returning the thing (& I love it).
Sometimes I get the notification right away, sometimes it comes in 5 minutes after the phone gets it and other times I don't get it at all.
Is there any fix for this??
I got my first text on my watch today since I had the watch last week. I really want to keep it, but I want to see what the possible Google watch will be later. Also for your question try restoring your gear and repairing with phone. I'm sadly sending mine back.
Tapatalk
Reminder if you get a text or email while phone on, you will not get notification through the Gear.

I have had zero issues with text notifications. Make sure you uninstall any other txt messaging apps. When I had gosms installed I didn't get any notifications. Once I uninstalled it, I get perfect notifications.
If you download the nodded SMS a pk you can have texts come in without turning your screen on. This makes texts appear on the watch instantly cause the screen is off.

Sorry about that. In the themes and apps section of your note 3s XDA you can download a modded MMS apk so your screen does not turn on when you get a text message
Issue probably is related to the screen turning on when a text arrives, which could be happening from another SMS app you have downloaded.

I find that notifications in generally slow; when they appear (usually within 5mins of appearing on phone). My Pebble is instant

I installed this app and set it to not light the screen on receiving a text, now my text notifications are almost instant.
That is great news. Glad I could help
Couple of weeks ago, my phone started to vibrate after I send a text, whatsapp message or make a phone call (when it gets hung up). I will send the message, and it will then vibrate, as if to give notifications that one has been sent. Just to be clear, this is not the vibrate notification when I receive a new message
Anybody have any ideas?

Try looking into notifications for each app and see if the option for sent sound like the default email app shown in the screenshot.
Cheers!
Edit: wrong screenshot it's before that screen "Send status".

Anybody else help with this? I've the same issue and the previously offered solution hadn't helped?!?!?!? It's driving me insane lol
Your browser is not able to display this video.
I have been experiencing delayed notifications on my Note 9, mainly with Facebook Messenger, but it applies also to the Line messenger app and Outlook, so it's not confined to one app. It's probably just that I use Messenger often, so notice it more with Messenger
The symptoms are a random and sometimes very long delay between sending a message and receiving a notification, measured in minutes to hours. Sometimes, I'll receive a bunch of notifications from multiple apps when opening the screen.
Other times, even opening the screen does not cause me to receive notifications. I can be actively using the phone and there will still be a random delay on notifications.
For example, I was using my phone earlier to web browse and my girlfriend sent me a message. I did not get a notification. After 30 minutes, she called and asked me why I was not reading her message. Opening the messenger app, I saw the message there (as well as the time at which it was sent) and about one minute later the notification came in.
Similarly, I can be using the phone and someone will video call me on Messenger. I don't get a notification until I actually open the app (I know this since my other phone that has the Messenger app installed on it rings, so I know I have an incoming call).
I can test notification delay by using one account from a computer to send a message to the account linked to my phone, so I know exactly when the message was sent. But the notification delay, even while using the phone actively, is still present and measured in minutes to hours, whereas the other phone receives the notification immediately.
It is NOT doze mode at fault. I have explicitly disabled ALL battery optimizations as well as turning off doze mode with ADB at boot time.
It's not bluetooth, even though some users in other threads have pointed to bluetooth being at fault.
I have cleared cache, uninstalled all updates for Google Play Services and Google Play and reinstalled them.
The phone itself seems capable of receiving push notifications correctly. I can use the push notification tester app to setup a high priority notification for, let's say 10 minutes from now. Then I shut the screen. After 5 minutes, I send a message to my phone with Facebook Messenger. No notification is received for this message.
After 10 minutes, the Push Notification Tester app triggers its notification correctly, which is received immediately. And then shortly afterwards, the notification comes in from Facebook Messenger.
Clearing cache and data on Messenger doesn't make any difference, and as I said in the first paragraph, it does not appear to be the app, since other apps are affected.
This is driving me crazy. I miss out on messages and important emails.
Is anyone aware of any solution to this problem? I just see a whole bunch of snake oil remedies on the net, but no real solution.
It appears to be something that might be related to notification priority, judging by the behaviour of the Push Notification Tester app, but this is just speculation on my part
