Install a stock kernel with recovery, then flash a stock rom for your device. Just check out the Development section for your Xperia and you'll find one

update.zip in Cache folder when trying to flash ICS ROM from Stock

Hi there
I recently got a Galaxy S (running Stock Gingerbread.XXJV9) for free off of a family member, so I decided to root it (which I did using CF-Root) and I'm trying to flash RemICS-UX onto the phone from stock 2.3
The thing is whenever I try to flash via ROM Manager, it will tell me there is an update file in the cache folder, when there shouldn't be and I do not know how this file even got into that folder (since this isn't a brand new phone)
Would this impact me flashing a new ROM at all? I have wiped cache at the moment, but before I flash the new ROM I would like to know if I have to repartition for ICS or can I leave it as is and flash without a problem.
Thanks for any help/advice in advance
Hey
The first requirement for flashing a ICS rom is that your phone should have 2.3.6 ValuePack, Rooted...you cannot just flash it on 2.3 stock..

Ah ok, there is a link to that ROM in the dev forum for this phone then I assume (just it isn't stickied like in Desire S forum)
EDIT: Found the link, these are really different to Desire S stock flashing, hopefully there is a glossary for what CSC means
Anything else I need to do with that ROM after I've flashed it besides reactivate root if I don't use a pre-rooted one?
Hey
Actually u dont need to do anything.. the roms quite good...plus rooting is ur option and is preferred if u need ics..
Cheers
If my post helped, don't mind hitting the Thanks button..

Ah awesome thank you,
Also I can flash straight to ICS from the CF-Root provided for the value pack without any extra requirements right? As I plan on doing so, because the Value Pack update has basically messed up my settings and everything, so I don't want to stay on it for a while
Hey
You can Flash any ICS rom once your phone is ont 2.3.6 rooted...not need to wait...

Is there anyone who has an Xperia T and wants development started?

Dear Xperia T users,
Some of you might already know me, but some won't. I'm a developer for Sony Xperia phones and I have some experience now
I'm looking for people that are willing to test a kernel with recovery for me
When we have a working recovery I'll also need testers for my custom rom: KA Xperia SSpeed
I haven't started to make the kernel with recovery yet, first I need to know if there is interest in this at the moment?
Thank you,
Krabappel2548

ok, pm me if you want to test some stuff
just flashing kernels to begin, but it won't brick your device if you follow my instructions
Hey Krabbple , if you realease roms for t then try to ask pple to test on tx because its exactly the same but diff design / remove batt. also it might be compatible for v but kernel flashing may be diff.
I will test. I have unlocked bootloader and rooted. Both kernel in other thread just stick on bootlogo

new kernels posted, let's hope they boot this time the command I use should be good, I used the right base adresses
I posted 2 insecure kernels, please test them both and report back to me
I am getting my T next week krab, we could join up for development?
Ive got mine now, put me down for helping to test the ROM's and such, would rather be honest and say that I have no idea on how to flash a kernel.
My Xperia T should arrive in the next days to be compared with a S3 first hand. I'm pretty sure the S3 will lose and will be sent back to Amazon - and I'm absolutely up for some crazy flashing
What can I do to help development? Should I dump the firmware and upload it? It is from O2 Germany and without a simlock, can't say if it is branded yet.
the big and might Codeworkx is having the T too....
expect fabulous dev work here !!!!
Can't wait Krab
Bring the Rom & Kernel on.. LOL

Hi
I've got a xperia T and I would like to develop but I have a problem, I can't unlooked my bootloader, so, how can I help?

[Q] Xperia T help

Hi,
I have a Xperia T with bootloader unlocked (which removes warranty) and a custom rom, but I want to lock the bootloader again and go back to the stock ROM. I don't know which ROM it is because my friend did it all for me, but he is not my friend anymore and doesn't want to help me with my phone. I dont want the custom rom because i dont see any use to it and some things dont work like WhatsApp and the camera.
So my questions are: Can i go back to stock ROM, if so how?
Can i Re-lock the bootloader so my warranty will be back. Or at least a way to hide that i have had a custom rom?
Thanks in advance !!!

I would gladly trade my locked T for your unlocked one

You can easily unlock it from the Sony site! But why would you want to do that?

Then you got to be a bit more careful... :/ Did your freind not tell you that you would loose warranty?\
Just flash greg bradleys rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2007736
Read the instructions for unlocked bootloader.. flash probs the advanced stock kernel... then his rom! it seems to be based off stock but a bit better! as i dont know if yo ucan go back to official stock sony or not sorry i dont even have the T yet im jsut basing off my experince from the x10
Flash kernel boot into cwm (pressing volume down repeatedly i think)
Flash the rom and reboot!
I take no resposibilty..

No he told me i could remove it. Also, do you lose warranty for physical damage? Like i have a case on my T but on the corners the matte is coming off a little? I dont know why i care for it very well!
I can't unlock my bootloader, sadly
Unfortunately, a lot of people are complaining about the matte finish peeling off. I for one have it on the lower left corner, and I really baby the phone. I don't even put it on hard surfaces but usually on a school workbook.
Anyway, you can find a lot of information in the following threads:
-All in one Q&A thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1903137
-Matte coating peeling off: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2031472

I dont know how you can remove it... i dont think theres a way to relock bootloader as of now.. i could be worng though! Maybe check out s1tool or osmething google it! And no that issue has been reported its not your fault... if you cna get your bl relocked you can send it back to them for that damage \
Try this to relock bootloader.. but read the whole thread as idk what it could do to your device...
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B_d8uWGbkaetaEhhd25JcjJMY2M/edit?pli=1
Again i take absolutley no repsobility here!
Thanks. Hopefully Sony will replace those devices.

Search for flashtool version 0.9.9.0 and download.
Download .ftf file of the firmware you want to flash and place it in flashtool firmware folder.
Start flashtool.exe and follow instructions. Leave all boxes ticked (wipe dalvik, user data, baseband etc)

Hi, I have ROM manager, can i use that to flash an Elf file?
Can somebody explain this ??
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2011725
As per other thread, questions belong in Q&A. I'll close your other thread as this is more relevant and you should only post questions once as per the forum rules.
Thanks

Hi I don't understand do I have to make separate threads for each of my questions? Also, when you move the thread where does it go because I can't find it. How many times is the maximum for asking a question and how many threads can one open on 1 day.

You can open multiple question threads in Q&A section but if all your questions pertain to, in this case, flashing a ROM, a single thread should do.
Also, keep in mind that many of the members of this forum will not answer simple generic inquiries. It is up to you to search the forum to find the answers, if possible.
Thanks for responding. I have found a way to get back stock firmware.its via the official Sony flash tool. But when I try to hold down the volume down button I go into ROM manager cwm based recovery and then it doesn't recognize my phone. Please I don't know what to do. I have cyanogenmod paranoid android 2.56. I don't know what that means but maybe its useful

I haven't run recovery in a while and never on this device.
Is there a choice to put the device in flash mode if you scroll down, I can't remember.

Read the all in one thread carefully. All you need to know is there. Yes I know it's a lot of info, but before you do anything you really should read it or else you might brick your phone if you flash the wrong stuff.
It's the first thread in q&a section

What Roms officially support the Sony Xperia T (LT30p)?

Hi, I'm a little bit nervous about install Cyanogen mod on my phone (that was my original plan) but since it's not officially supported by the rom I don't want to risk it.
Could someone tell me what roms officially support the Xperia T please?
Thanks
Edit: When a rom says "requires unlocked bootloader" will being rooted work for that or is it a completely different thing I must go through? And does anyone know what the MOST stable rom for an Xperia T is? (Sorry for the bombardment of questions).

Thanks for the info, but I'm left with some questions. Is there a guide somewhere for very hard debloating? What does Odex mean? And I don't know what you mean by "change some apks". Do you mean replacing them with some other app? Like from the app store?
I think xperia t is officially supported by omni ,cm and aokp. There would not be any deadly risk only if you folllowed the correct steps.
