Guys,
From what I understand, the Moto-X has an "always on" Google Now option. This means you can pick up the phone and say an audible command that it will respond to without you needing to press any buttons?
Okay, if so that's great. Now here is the important question.
Does it also work this way when you're connected using a Bluetooth headset with mic and listening to music?
So if you put on your Bluetooth headset/mic and start listening to some MP3's streaming from the phone... can you speak out loud and interrupt the music and give a command to Google Now? Without pressing ANY buttons???
Thanks for any responses!
Yes, it activates regardless of what you are doing at that exact moment once given the command. It's a pretty damn nice feature.
Have yet to expand using it by the Tasker, Auto Voice.

You don't have to pick up the phone, hence the name touchless controls.
The Find My Phone command is great!

I have the Incredible and will probably have to wait until the end of the year to see 2.2. I was hoping those of you lucky enough to have 2.2 could answer a question about 2.2.
Did Google fix the inability to hit the button on your bluetooth headset to trigger voice dialing?
Thanks!
Yes I believe so. Full Bluetooth support is now present which includes initiating from the headset. Can someone else confirm?
Sounds right. It also picks up the phone if it detects a bluetooth headset connect while the phone is ringing.

Yes. Press the headset button and the screen shows sample voice dialing commands while the headset says, "speak now." You say "call John Smith", the headset says "calling John Smith" and dials.
It's a little different from the way it was on Windows Mobile, where the phone asked, "Call John Smith?" and you had to say "yes" or "no," but you can still abort the call using the headset button if the phone misunderstood your command.
I haven't used it much, but it's 2-for-2 for correct voice recognition on the test calls I made.
I am trying to determine the usefulness of the touchless control app while I am biking with the phone in my backpack - can anyone answer these questions?
I wear a bluetooth headset and listen to music/podcasts - will it listen and answer my "okay google now" commands via bluetooth microphone?
Can it be configured to read me incoming emails/texts automatically?
If so, does it pause the music?
If it pauses music, does it play it again when it's done reading aloud?
Is it frustrating to use the device when you aren't looking at the screen at all?
Does anyone else use this phone and it's unique features in interesting ways while biking?
I am a cyclist also, on Verizon, and was told via their online chat that touchless control would only work with a wired headset, not Bluetooth. I would verify this with your provider. I am looking at this phone to replace my old Incredible. I like its size and capabilities, if it only had 32GB...

I seem to remember getting a dialog pop up when I connected to my car bluetooth saying that the multi function button could trigger the touches control option. Could be wrong though.
Re: your auto reading option should work. My Moto X will automatically detects when I am driving and does just that it reads my texts and tellsbme who is calling. The built in app is called assist

That makes sense since I don't think the mic on a bluetooth headset is always listening like the Moto X does.

The multi-function button can trigger Google Now.
So I picked up a Pressy clone called Klick, but haven't gotten it to work. After some googling, I discovered this: http://phandroid.com/2013/09/16/mot...maxx-dont-support-square-register-jawbone-up/
So apparently the Moto X doesn't currently work with any accessory devices that have a microphone input, but no microphone output. This includes the Square Register. Has anyone figured out a way to get this to work?

That's good news. has anyone gotten a pressy clone to work with moto x?
I just got a Pressy.
It screws up, interferes with, and replaces Touchless Control functionality-- other mic input devices, like square credit card reader, do not conflict with Touchless Control. It must be Pressy's software.
Anyone else have any luck?

Same issue here. Just got my Pressy today, same problem. Click, Double Click, etc. work fine, but long press launches touchless control and there's no way to clear the default action.
For some reason, my Pressy requires a really hard press to register a click. Not sure if it's the Pressy or the Moto X headphone port ...

You need to disable Touchless Control for Pressy to work flawlessly. If you don't disable Touchless Control, it can get confused in certain circumstances; like when you're connected to a bluetooth headset and long-press Pressy.

The trouble with disabling Touchless Control si that it also disables the "Ok Google Now" voice command features (a la Siri).
I hope that Pressy can fix this soon.

UPDATE
I discovered that if I disabled the Long Press action in Pressy (mine was set to toggle Mute), Touchless Control can stay enabled.
BUT -- with Pressy plugged, the MotoX no longer responds to the "OK Google Now" voice command. Apparently, with Press plugged in, the MotoX cannot detect a microphone from which to receive the voice commands. If I unplug Pressy, it works fine.
This is also apparent when you try to "train" the MotoX to use your voice for "OK Google Now" in Touchless Control. If you attempt to train the phone, Touchless Control says it cannot detect a microphone and asks you to plug in a headset.
For those people using credit card readers on the MotoX, does the "OK Google Now" voice command work with your device plugged in?

Yup, you're right. Same here. Well, that just killed the Pressy party.
I currently have a galaxy s3 running Cyanogenmod 10.2.1 and I have ran into a very annoying problem. I bought a bluetooth headset in the hopes that I could press the call button and use google now to send text messages, calls, etc. However it works nothing like this at all, sure it will let me do that if the phone is unlocked, but if the screen is off and it is in my pocket the best I get is "voice dialer".
What I am wondering is if the Moto X is able to touchless control, through a bluetooth headset, while the device is locked? If so then I am sold on the phone. lol... Or should I wait for the X+1?

Agreed. I can touch my BT headset button with the phone locked and screen off and say 'call (wife's name)' and choose mobile, work, etc. No unlock necessary. BTW, I'm using a Moto H17 BT headset.
Hello,
I have the Nexus 6 for the last month now. I was using the phone when I noticed that the headset buttons does not work.
If I press a headset button while I listen to music, it will not stop the music but instead it is going to open Google now commands.
Same issue when I try to answer a call.
I have tried several apps from the market, but none of the seem to fix the problem.
I have tried disabling the Google now, but when I hit the button, it goes to voice search again.
I think that the Google now only listens to the headset buttons and I want to fix it.
Can anyone help me fix it?
Thank you in advance.
PS: I have read and tried the things other threads was saying and nothing seem to work.
I can't really help but I am pretty sure it depends on the bluetooth device.
In 1 car when I push the call button (stand alone device) it forces you to make calls in a strange interface that only makes calls. It has a different put for play/pause
In my other car (built in bluetooth) it does google now (which in my opinion works a lot better) and then it has on screen play pause.
