[Q] Wrong file placed in boot partition when installing TWRP

So I tried to install TWRP on my Kindle Fire HD 7 and when the steps came to use FireFlash I had out the wrong img. file into the boot partition and placed no file into the recovery partition. Now whenever I power on my Kindle 7 HD, I automatically go into TWRP and I dont know what to do... HELP PLEASE. THANK YOU TO ALL!!!

Wait u replaced the boot loader with twrp? I think that's fixable, but I need to know if that's what happened or if I misunderstood.

Yes exactly that. TWRP became the boot partition for FireFlash and I forget to insert a recovery partition.

Wow um, I don't know if u can use fast boot at this point or not even though that would be easiest, if u can't I think u would need a custom ROM to flash that restores stock os, because I think the ones hashcode provided don't wipe recovery and the boot partition. This is a weird scenario. I will need to do some research before I can tell you exactly what to do. This may take a while to research if I am downloading stock ROMs since they are near a GB. If u can get it into fast boot by going g into twrp and hitting reboot, then hitting bootloader, tell me because this will be much simpler.

If you can get into fastboot, get kindle fire first aide and just restore to stock 7.2.3

Yes if I go into bootloader reboot it takes me to Fastboot kindle fire. What do I do from here? And can they be detailed instructions because I'm pretty new to this all. Thanks agin!!

So the guide says that the fastboot should so up automatically after the USB cable is plugged in, but I only get fastboot after I reboot with boot loader. Will this be a problem (I haven't done it yet)?

I thought I would mention I haven't used kffa so I personally don't know if it flashes your boot loader partition or not. But since it was suggested to do it it can't hurt anything even if that wasn't the case. Post the results plz.

hello.
i've accendently flash my kindle fire hd 7" to a 8'9 root firmware
now is bricked
can i unbricked somehow? if not now is there any chance for unbricking in the future?
i;ve tried whit the fastbooting cable but it brings up the error "waiting for device" or " no device found"

Did your kindle go into fast boot when using the fat boot cable?
Of it did you should be able to fix it using the first aid thread and proper drivers.

No ,it didn't do nothing. Just like the regular cable. "Waiting for device" and nothing. I dont even know is it has any power left in the battery.

OK I have 3 questions:
1. Does the kindle display fastboot in yellowish letters on the screen when you plug the fastboot cable into the kindle from the PC?
2. If it does, did you switch to a normal cable after it displays that?
3. What fastboot command are you running in command prompt?

First of all thanks a lot for replay-ing to my post really apreciate,but i dont get any respond with the fastboot cable,the kindle"s display remains black all of the time.i just recieve the specific sound(from windows) that a device is conected,i"ve tried looking for the conection im device manager but it"s not to be found
Let me explain what and when the kindle stop working
I"ve instaled adb drivers,sdk java,sdk android with the google drivers,conect the kindle to usb cable and enable adb from menu,the rooting proces start to begin,i"ve managet to root my kindle,superuser appear in my kindle and all of that,but now the tutorial i"ve watch said that if i want to get rid off kindle android and get my self the original android i"ve have to folow cuple of more steps. And at the next reboot the kindle stops powering on.

What did you use to root it? Actually that might not be the right question because I'm still a little confused, did this happen after rooting it and rebooting, or after you tried to install 2nd boot loader+twrp. If what you originally were trying to say was you flashed the 8.9” bootloader to a 7" model, then it is hard bricked.

I"ve used kindle fire hd 8.9 root insead of 7"
And if is it hard brick is there any chance to unbrick it in the future?or the kindle is dead for good?

They both use the same method to root... If that's all you did I doubt its hard bricked. And hard bricks may be recoverable in the near future thanks to kurohyou.

At this point it doesn't really matter.
OP, if all you get is a black screen, then your device is hard bricked. It can be fixed, but it won't be easy...

[Q] How to format rooted Kindle HD 7"

Hi, My brother has a rooted kindle (Which I rooted for him, he doesn't know much about root, but he wanted the play store). His kindle was starting to get laggy, and random touch input, Im thinking it's happening because it's just slow. I'm not sure what app is causing this, but just to point out.. So he wanted to format. I'm not sure if it will brick his kindle since it's rooted. But I did see a forum page about someone's phone on a black screen because it was rooted and he formatted it. So should I unroot it then format? Am I missing something?

You do not want to format your kindle. Instead install a new rom such as kinology. Follow all instructions.

Thanks for the reply, but the kindle's bootloader isn't unlocked. Is there a workaround or anything from flashing a rom?

I'm running a rooted kindle fire HD (2013) on 11.3.1 and would like to install twrp but I am unable to get it in FB mode and if I can avoid it id like to do it without a factory cable. Suggestions?

It's not even remotely possible at the moment to flash TWRP to the 2013 KFHD yet.

You can't just flashed things on a tablet. The bootloader is locked and no second bootloader mod is available. Second is TWRP images have to be slightly modified to use on any Kindle in the first place.

I understand that the boot loader is locked, but what holds up a custom, or edited boot loader? I'm experienced in using these software's, but not in their development.

If your asking what I think your asking it's an exploit, the cpu on the kindle is a high security model that checks for a signature on the boot loader, if it isn't signed the kindle won't turn on. We found a way to exploit something amazon missed a while back for the other's and that allowed us to use 2nd boot loader, unfortunately for the newer kindles they were released after that had been patched so we don't have an older version of the boot loader that's compatible with your device that can be exploited. *sarcastically high fives amazon*

Can you explain what the exploit was? I recall flashing the custom boot loader at line 1049 (or something to that affect) in the memory, but what was it that made that possible?
Edit* looking back at the kftt process, I see a stack override was used. I understand that the file was pushed to the sd card, but what did it actually do?

Google Play Store for the 11.1.x.x 2013 Kindle fire HD is for window shopping only. Any attempts to download will freeze the tablet. At this point, the answer to your question is no. You can sideload about any app and make it work though. FDroid and 1mobile are great sites to get the latest apks.

For the Kindle Fire HD 7 a 2nd bootloader had to be flashed. It had to be flashed before 7.3.0 because the next firmware release patched the bootloader. This is why a 7.2.3 bootloader image had to be flashed as well (to make the exploit possible.) Since no exploit exists, at the moment, there is no way to even flash any unsigned files.

The stack override file makes it so you can install unsigned recovery and boot images.

So what about mimicking the file signature?

That would be very difficult to do, and also very expensive considering how many hard bricks it would probably make. I mean I suppose if someone with the know how analyzed several bootloaders for all the devices that have signed boot loaders that are omap based we might be able to get a better idea of what the signature is that is added to the file to replicate, but no one seems to have done that, probably because its immensely difficult I would imagine. I kinda compare it to making a keygen for a program that spits out a random code and asks for the code that goes with it. Though I'm assuming way more difficult.

KFHD 7" can't swipe down for menu

My Kindle Fire HD 7" is not in a good way. I will power up and allow me access to the app screen, but that is about it. Any time I try to launch an app it goes to a black screen and I have to cycle power in order to get it back. I am not able to swipe down at all to get the menu to appear, so I have no access to settings at all. I have been bumping around on this forum and based on the fact that I can't turn on the ADB, I bought a factory cable to help me access my KFHD. Now what?? I would like to do a full system restore on it to see if that will help with the issue that I have, but the thread on this forum that discusses that has dead links.
I am very new to this (so call me a n00b), but I want to try to fight through this myself. any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have tried several times to pull that file in with no success. It fails in the last 5% of the download. Is there an alternative place that I can get that file from? Thanks for the help!
