I can't seem to find the setting for setting the lock screen to none. I did bypass the lock screen in the venom tweak app, but I can't find in the phone settings how to even keep it from coming up in the first place. Right now pressing the power button briefly shows the lockscreen for about a second and then unlocks the phone.

edit: found a solution. used the venom tweaks to switch to ASOP lockscreen then downloaded no lock from the play store
The option for set to none the lockscreen was removed by htc since android 4.3.
So, the option are two, or do the same you did, or set the tweaks: Bypass lockscreen

So just installed CM10.1 on my Touchpad. Works great. Now Im reading that you cn add widgets to the lock screen and have looked at videos on how to do it. But there is just no + icon on my lock screen. Could it be that I have an assigned PIN to unlock my device? If so then how do you add a widget in this scenario?

Have you tried swiping left? Still nothing?
yes i have swiped left, right, up, down. there is no + icon. I see in the settings under Lockscreen there is an option to allow multiple widgets. Have turned that on and off with no results. There is the Widget pager>Allow multiple widget pages to be added and selected. That's is checked on. Then there is Camera widget>Show the camera widget to the right of the unlock screen. That is checked on. Doesn't change my lockscreen in any way.
Actually I have done that several times and when I go back the options are turned back to off. Wonder if that has to do with me connecting to Exchange and it being part of the security policy. I don't know I'm just shooting in the dark.
So I have 4.3, and ever since, when the phone starts into Android, there is always a lock screen where you have to swipe the lock in the center away to get to the home screen. I want to disable this so that it simply boots into the home screen. I'm fairly certain to do this I'll need to edit my build, I'm just wondering exactly what I need to edit to accomplish this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
I don't know if this helps, but i accidentaly found this "glitch" that lets my phone without the lockscreen and enter the phone just by pressing the power button
I installed Windows 8 Lock Screen app from Play Store, I checked it to be the default locker, but after that, after I played around with it, I decide not to keep it active and I unchecked the "Default Locker option". After this, apparently, I have no lock screen whatsoever... Just press the power button and the phone is unlocked

HTC have removed the option to have no screen lock at all, you have to have something (which is responsible IMO)

Actually, this issue only came up once I installed the 401 5.5 4.3. My native is developer 1540 4.3, which does not have this. Good to know it's most likely a sense 5.5 addition, as I can request the next toolbox include an option to disable this.
Edit: For those interested, I seem to have found a happy accident that exploits the lockscreen coming up every time the phone goes dark. By installing the Windows 8 Lockscreen app from the play store, setting it as the default lockscreen, utilizing it a few times, then disabling it, when I restarted the phone, the only time the lockscreen came up was during the initial startup. Nothing after that. The power button got me directly to the homescreen. I also have no lock installed with locking disabled. Obviously, all it would take is a simple xposed module or app to isolate this and get it to the masses, but for now, this seems to work for me. I hope it works for you as well.

Yeah, HTC removed it
So I'm trying to use alternative lock screens like Picturesque and Next Lock Screen on my Nexus 6 running Chroma ROM.
This doesn't seem to be ROM specific.
I have a PIN, and I use Smart Lock with a pebble and locations for work and home.
On both lock screen apps, when I swipe to unlock I am presented with another lock screen, the stock lock screen, so I have to swipe a second time.
So Next lock screen - I swipe down to unlock, then I'm presented with another lock screen with notifications on it, where I have to swipe up to unlock (stock lock screen).
This is likely user error, but I can't figure it out how to only use 1 lock screen. Thanks for the help!

I guess without doing that only the 3rd party lock screen will be visible. Tried with go locker. Never had this duplicate luck screen issue. Though I used to have such issues with my galaxy s3 sometimes with a specific lock screen app.

That would work, but then I would lose all security on my phone (no pin unlock as a result of setting no lock screen).
This happened on other ROM's so I don't think it's specific to Chroma, but nobody else seems to be having this issue..?

Maybe you need a custom rom. Some have the option to turn swipe off when a PIN / Pattern is applied. At least on KK they did.
IMHO< The stock lock screen is too good to pass up so maybe not many people have tried. Or maybe some lockscreen apps seek to use root to turn off stock swipe (again they used to try)
I guess I'm going to hope this issue is fixed with 5.1.
In KitKat, pressing the power button or swiping up after a Moto Wave would skip the lock screen and go straight to android.
In Lollipop, pressing the power button brings up the lock screen. Swiping up from the Moto Wave screen flashes the lock screen briefly, then goes to android.
I don't remember how I had disabled the lock screen in KK, but in LP security->screenlock settings, there is no option to disable the lock screen.
Any thoughts?
Going to Settings > Security > Screen lock, and changing your setting to None will disable the lockscreen.

As per my original post, LP settings do not give you a 'none' option.

I'm on a modified system image, however I'm not aware that this was an add on...
Every other device running lollipop has this, hell, every devide running 4.0+ has it.
Can you upload a screenshot of what your's looks like?

I've read in another forum that removing the "Guest" user solved this problem. Others said running "Clear credentials" in the Security options helped them.

By lockscreen, do you possibly mean the keyboard (the one that shows notifications and you just swipe up on to remove)?
If so, mine does that too by pressing power. I just made a tasker task that turns the keyboard off and have it run at boot or if the screen is on. Keeps my PIN enabled when no Smart Lock conditions are met, but it now takes me straight to my home screen when I press the power button instead of using Moto's active display.
EDIT: wait, that always bypasses the PIN. Hmmmm
Its under settings-security-screen lock (1st setting).
Yes, it's the guest user issue. Funny thing is, I don't remember going into the Users settings (maybe the kids played with the phone).
For others reading, if you create another user or even use the Guest user once, LP disables the "none" option under Lock Screen.
It's silly how to fix it, though. You can't disable the Guest account from the settings page. You have to switch to the Guest user, then disable the Guest account from within the Guest environment. Which . . . doesn't actually disable the Guest account, since it still shows up in the User settings page.
In other words, not only is it unclear and unintuitive how to fix the problem, there's no visual indication in the UI that a change has initially occurred, or afterwards when the condition has been reversed.
Thanx for the replies.
How can I toggle the AOD to be completely off? This is driving me nuts. I'm aware of the settings within the Motion Sense area of settings. The "show when nearby" seems to take, however no matter what I do the clock still appears no matter what as an AOD. I've tried disabling the following in different combinations to no avail:
Motion Sense
com.google.oslo
Pixel Ambient Services
com.google.intelligence.sense
Motion Sense Bridge
com.google.android.apps.motionsense.bridge
Even tried the clock app itself
com.google.android.deskclock
Whenever these are initially disabled it seems to work for a minute or so but then the clock pops back up on the AOD. I just want the toggles to work! This is for when I'm driving and my my phone is mounted where it faces me. I already have 2 clocks in my car and don't need a third it's more of an annoyance than anything else.
Do you have Always On disabled in the Lock Screen settings?
Display>Lock Screen Display>Always on

Search for "always on" in settings and turn it off
display / lockscreen / always on - does not exist
Searching for "always on" yields no results.
I don't have a lock screen set as I don't need it, though I did try setting one temporarily to see if the option showed up, but nothing. That's how I used to do it on my note but they moved everything around on 10.

You really don't have always on under..settings/display/advanced/lock screen display....then scroll to the bottom??
Display, scroll all the way to the bottom, select lock screen display, bottom third of the screen you'll see Always on, toggle it off. You can still have it light up by tapping, lifting, or triggered by soli, in any combination if you wish.
edit.. Ninja'ed me Badge, it's there, he just missed it.

It's probably because you went around disabling apps. Enable the Pixel ambient Services.

With everything re-enabled and a hard reboot, I set a screen lock. Then went back to display and the "lockscreen" option was now available. I turned off AOD and then disabled the screen lock and it took. No more clock.
It seems as though the AOD toggle being buried in the lock screen options, which is only available when one is on will take no matter of a lock screen is set. So every time I want to change this I have to go through this process. I wish there was a Quick Settings shortcut for this.

Well it's not exactly meant to be toggled on and off often like the ones in the Quick Settings pulldown menu. The easiest and quickest way is just searching "Always on" in settings and you can actually toggle it right there as seen in the screenshot.

Also if you are not using the active edge for anything critical you might try button mapper by flar2 and see if one of the options can be set to it. Or maybe even on of the other options in his app will apply it.

I don't now and have never had a lock screen enabled on my phone and can and have always been able to enable or disable always on display. Unless you disabled some app affecting this as mentioned above it should be there for you too just as it is for the rest of us. You may want to look into that and see what's hanging you up.

I haven't been able to do it since it was virgin out of the box, the option just isn't there. Doing it on my old Note 8 was super easy it was right where it was supposed to be. Although I have found a workaround for anyone on the off chance I'm not the only one experiencing this.
Being rooted, I downloaded ShortcutMaster and used the app explorer and poked around until I found;
[Setup Wizard]
com.google.android.pixel.setupwizard
tap and scroll down to;
com.google.android.pixel.setupwizard.alwaysondisplay.AlwaysOnDisplayOptInActivity
Choosing [launch] triggers the screen from inital setup to toggle the AOD.
Set it as favorite, or Homescreen (on the paid version)
Launch Shortcut master each time to change it or use the homescreen icon shortcut.
The setting seems to take each time I've done it so far.
