It seems there are contradicting info and it is not worth to risk it. So better to be on safe side and also have root and no yellow triangle with PhilZ kernels. He did a great job for Note users.

Search the thread. It shouldn't take too long. I'd search for you but I'm on my phone. Good luck man.

There's about zero useful information in that thread, just to let you know. You're wasting your time.

Agreed, that thread was a waste of two hours and almost led me down a terrible path.
I fixed it...
Flashed abyss 3.9 again, full wipe (data, dvlik, partition) then flashed rrv22.
Boom, working.

The bricking only happened when using angelroms ICS kernels. A shame that happened

What you actually tried to do initially was slap a GB Rom on top of the ICS one. That is not a done thing.
What you do when coming down from ICS is
1. flash Abyss
2. wipe everything, including your arse, to eliminate all ICS traces from your future GB
3. flash GB
No wonder you got stuck at boot.

Yeah samsung includes a flash counter and a yellow triangle screen when you flash a custom kernel. This can be easily avoided if you follow the steps what are written in the below posts. Make sure of what you are doing and always search and read before directly diving into anything. Basics for any phone rooting and flashing

Yeah for me I've noticed the Samsung firmware's seem to be less stable when compared to HTC firmwares.
Be sure to get the most stable one you can find, most often its not necessarily the most recent.
Samsung doesn't have locked boot loaders, so it's much easier to flash.

oh, so a custom rom might be made from an older more stable firmware rather than the latest?

Of course I know that. But I've already left Stock ICS, because I feel it's way too bloated for my needs.

Of course not.
I'm well aware of the risk, but I think it's a bit haywire atm regarding the bug. I do not believe it's a common problem, but rather a very rare chain of special conditions which have to be fulfilled to trigger the hardbrick.

Hi everyone
I have just bought a new note from China. My problem is that the phone is sim locked and i need to unlock it for Cyprus carrier. Is there any possible way to do it without rooting the phone so i don't void warranty? If not i would appreciate the safest way to do it.
I also would like to know the newest firmware that can be officially installed so i do that from the beginning before start installing applications etc on it. I don't really know if jelly bean is available for my phone but any help about my both issues is really appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Thank you again willi9070! Finaly I decided for I9070XXLQE, can't say why, i guess I9070DXAMD1 gave me a little of fear for locales complications, but who knows.
Have to say it works like a charm on my i9070, even more, took my instaled apps and I wasn't forced to do factory reset (I made it anyways).
I like Samsung for this kind of things, it's hard to think migrate to other manufacturer like Motorola. I guess may be HTC, but mean while Samsung keep openmind and close to developers I will remain using his products.
:good:
I use it...nothing to say, just like other JB rom
