The "gadgeteer" in me says "Why yes, of course it's worth it." My wallet says otherwise. It does have a metal band, metal face, and fingerprint resistant face.

the matte black with leather strap looks pretty good, i wish they'd sell it with a choice of straps though, might take down the price a bit, the 250$ includes both a metal and a leather strap

Overpriced. The regular Pebble at $150 is too much. I got it with the Best Buy deal and at $100 it's worth it.
$250? The Galaxy Gear can be had between $200-$250 when it's on sale.
One major problem I see is the special strap (Yes Im aware the Gear has this same problem but you're getting superior hardware at a similar pricepoint albeit a shorter battery)....you can't use any 22mm strap like you do with the original Pebble. I use my Pebble while I'm working out to get notifications and change songs. I use a rubber or Nato strap for that and swap it to a leather strap afterwards.
I'm not going to workout with a watch on a steel bracelet. Sure I could opt for the leather but if you sweat on it consistently, it'll need to be replaced in a few months. Guessing it'll be 39 or 49 to swap it out.

Looks a lot nicer than the original plastic version. Still sticking with my Gear

It's a lot more fun playing with the Pebble than the others. I have the Sony SW2, bought the Gear, returned it after 30 days, bought the Pebble and the new Sony. I'm planning on returning the Sony, don't know yet. The Gear was so limited in terms of apps and plain simple "fun" toys. After all, these are all toys.

Most reviews I've read indicate that it has an one-week battery life like the current Pebble. In fact, not a whole is different, except for the metal material and firmware.

This. I'd love a hard body Pebble made with steel. But I already have a perfectly functional rev1 Pebble.
Are they doing any sort of upgrade incentive?

"Pebble Steel will run firmware 2.0. Pebble has promised to push this firmware update to existing Pebble users toward the end of January. The software update will be compatible with SDK 2.0 apps that will be available in the appstore."

It also has an led that I'm sure somebody will come up with a use for, double the flash memory and both metal and leather straps come with it. As for the non standard 22mm strap, when I went looking last weekend for a new strap for my plastic pebble, I was presented with many bands that would fit the design of the pebble steel.

Link for these straps that fit the steel?
Look up 22 mm notched straps on eBay and there's none.
Look up 22mm strap and you get tons of options.

Apparently RAM has been upped in new model (how much, I don't know). Addition of LED indicator too. Otherwise, same functions as original one.
I will stick to my original black pebble with black metallic bracelet. IMO, looks amazing still

Hi, not sure if links are permitted so will just give you the details. I purchased it from Amazon UK from the marketplace seller Ritche Horologe Co. Ltd. The product details are: Ritche 22mm Stainless Steel Bracelet Watch Band Strap Straight End Solid Links Color Black (£12.99). Took about a week to arrive but we'll worth wait. Good quality for price and easy to adjust length with removable pins.
Returning to thread topic...who's bright idea was it to stamp a massive pebble logo on the front of the new pebble steel? Not sure how popular that will be...IMO, this logo dominates the screen. Should be much more discrete/subtle.

Samsung Genuine Flip Cover available from Mobilefun.co.uk

I am a proud owner of a white galaxy note 2 for a week now, i bought it from expansys.. and alltough i allready has the note 1 i am amazed how good this new version feels and its improvments...
Anyway i found it very stupid that even though such a premium smartphone comes out and the companies dont bother to release accessories with it.. you have to wait so long to get them!
Good news is i ordered a Genuine Samsung Flip Cover (white) from www.mobilefun.co.uk and should have it in a few days time..
Its the first company i found that has availability of this case, which as you might know replaces the battery cover and protects also the front screen.
I am now waiting for a samsung car dock with usb ingector to come out as the note1 which was perfect..
The blue looks cool think it would look good with the white note 2 , 40bucks is kinda steep though, any coupons or rebates

My flip case arrived this morning. I have a white Note 2 but thought the silver contrats with it pretty well after seeing some video of the case fitted.
The back part of the case is actually slightly thicker than the stock backing. This is to accomodate for the hinge where the front cover attaches. You can see that the chrome surround on the lens sits just slightly below the level of the back case in the photo below. It also feels thicker when you unbox it as there isn't the flex in it as per the stock back casing. Fits lovely and looks real nice though. The micro-fibre lining on the inside is also a nice touch as well as a slight recess for the home button to sit in when the cover is closed.
Hope the pics are of help if any.

Is the replacement back thick enough from preventing the chrome around the camera from getting scratched if you set it down?

It's a very nice cover and really thinking about it.
However, this case is going to cause problems with use in a car holder (for GPS)
How practical and durable are they in use? Making calls for example, if you have to fold the flap back will the hinge distort, crease, or break over time?

I'm getting the White Galaxy Note 2 & just wondering is the grey flip cover a better suit for it then the white version of it?
I myself would only change the back cover only if I thought it looked good & matched well with the white GN2.
my only concern with the flip cover is it doesnt provide enough protection to the phone. Its not going to cushion any fall like a wrap around case would.

very nice fitting ok when i univirsal clamp incar holder but pain in the ass to take pics with i got the grey phone with white case as that was the only one i could find in town bit pricey @£29.99 but got it free with the phone but need side protection so am still looking for something more rugged one
bob
The only thing i don't understand about this case is why they didn't make a hole for the notification led.
I got mine today and that is the first thing i noticed about it.
I will end up making a hole myself in it but i think it is a design fault
Oh i got the grey one and i heard that the notification led with the white one is visible although it is also missing a hole in it.

My review on the Crystal skin glosst side TPU case

I shared a couple of photos on the thread "sharing your Note 2 with case" and received a couple of questions from fellow folks here either through pm or quote.
I thought I would rather open a separate thread to review it
1. How is the buttons responsiveness?
It is awesome in my case. I think it is well cut case
2. How fast was the shipping?
I got it in 4 days and the seller marked shipping 20 minutes after i paid with tracking number. ..no kidding. ..
3 responsive seller. I am surprised this case is not a branded case yet. ..Maybe that's why it is cheaper than most other high quality cases
What I like most
No need to open battery door each time put it on or off
Transparent back so the design is not impacted much
Glossy side
Not adding much weight or thickness
I bought it here. ... http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/view...&nid=47951986156&trxId=Color:Mysterious+Black

Yes, it is barely 2oz while the defender is about 10oz according to his post if I read correctly?
I still like Samsung's industrial design after all. Not want to wrap it up in some thick plastic to make a brick

Careful with flash photos with it. They will affect the picture. Reflections of the case will cause blurriness and haze in your photos.
1 fix is too use a black marker or Sharpie pen to try and make a black into ring in the hole cut out for the flash. I have tried this with success.

My case arrived yesterday.
I love it . the cutting is exact and the material is not giving you cheap feeling. I like the semi-opaque back with matte feeling. The whole thing did not kill Samsung's design and I for sure like the minimal impact to the whole phone's look and feel.
The charging port has a bit rough cut inside the case. you will not see it from outside at all so it does not bother me.
All in all, i don't call this a review but a very positive feedback. For the price, it is worth it completely.
Oh, seller shipped the same day and it comes with tracking too.

VITREO on, right? I assume Draco lip is high enough to lay screen down without temp. glass touching the surface? Since I'm not familiar with bumper cases, do they offer a good drop protection? I assume there is a padding inside to absorb the shock and isolate phone from hitting the metal bumper frame if dropped.
... never mind, saw your official review post and got my answers about the design

Vitreo has enough of a border it doesn't touch the case. When laid flat, I think the Vitreo and bumper touch at the same contact point.
Tolerance looks very close. hard to tell. I slide it on the edge of a counter and it seems seamless. If anything the Vitreo sticks out a little further than the bumper.

"Otterbox Commuter" Mod with a Kickstand

Otterbox offers some of the best protection cases for devices. It rarely incorporates kickstands as part of the main casing. This shows you how I managed to splice in a thin kickstand from another casing. This saves you from carrying those stands so you can watch videos hands-free.
The "Otherbox Commuter" case you see here is an exact $5 replica done by a company called Swisstech in one of their kiosk stores here in Metro Manila. The original Otterbox Commuter cost $70 retail here.

The TPU case with the kick stand actually cost more at about $9!
You can exact the process with the original Commuter case if you want to do this.
This will give you peace of mind for accidental drops but giving you that kickstand function but still as thin.
Here's the video link of the finished case:

Nah, the point of the project was to really put the stand inside and not be just anything that I put on to the surface of the case. The 3 hours I put into this paid of so that it can still fit into my book hiding place for the Note II.

I've been to the Philippines twice and love it. It's not that it's so dangerous that you will get robbed blindly down the street, it's that items of value are less common, so you could get swiped in the most inopportune times. In the US or other locations, it's more common to see expensive gadgets. There is a lot of poverty in the Philippines and in regions of the world like that, it's very common.
It doesn't suck because you grow up knowing that's the way things are there.
ANYWAY, back on topic. Is there any way to get a Swiss-Tech case online? Was looking and it seems there is no way to get them. I like the price and the difference in look from the "Otterbox".
I'm all for making mods where necessary, but a similar case with a stand already built in seems easier.
This one is $7. My wife and I have them in different colors. They're great.

There's none, as I mentioned. There are even different color variants of the silicone part of this like pink, blue, red, yellow and white.

Nice but it doesn't ship to my country and it would take almost 2 months to arrive if it does!

Ya shipping cost sucks however I was able to get 3 for $13 including shipping with a coupon.
yeah, 4-5 bucks delivered isn't bad, but anything more is silly
Id just go for a otterbox defender case. Super tough case plus the clip on the holsters locks open if you want to become a stand.. on the down side this case does make it a bit bulky but still protects it extremely well. .

Yes, there are reasons why is choose the Commuter over the Defender. One thing is the difficulty of changing the battery and taking out the micro SD card. I'd not be using that holster that much either. Where would I store that? I'm trying hard to conceal the Note, not actually show it off on my waist.

Not saying you wanna show it off. I only use it because I work on construct ion sites and it offers superior protection ......

I can understand needing the Defender in a construction site. I'm an architect.
The reason for me is to conceal the Note II:

Slickwraps for the GWR- First takes
First off, I paid my good money to buy this for review and personal use. I am no way affiliated with Slickwraps, but I do get discounts from time to time, but this was not one of those times lol.
Site: https://slickwraps.com/wood-series-skins-wraps-for-lg-g-watch-r.html
Ok first off, there are NO install instructions. even though they tell you to refer to slickwraps.com/install. But the only wearable install vid is for the Pebble. Not even for the Pebble Steel mind you. But fear not, I have installed it using my infinite patience and know-how and years of experience in applying skins and screen protectors and other junk on our devices.
Amazingly, I didn't mess mine up too bad. I mean I have ordered stuff from Slickwraps many times on different devices, so I expected nice thick skins. I have chosen the one from the Wood Series, the "ebony" version. I wanted it to somewhat match my Maori band with Cocobolo wood buckle that adorns my wrist  . I ordered on late night, 4/6 and just got it delivered to my offcie on 4/10.
Ok back to the install, the packet only comes with the "stop" card and the skin. It is pretty self explanatory on which goes where and the one with the hole is of course for the mic hole on the bottom of the watch. Now this was a bit of a pain to line up. Maybe it's my old eyes, but I had a heck of a time getting it the best so that I can clear the mic hole AND be somewhat in the borders of where the skin rests. There are small cuts to fold or press down on the top portions of the skins so that you can adhere it in between the top and bottom lugs. Next I did the sides of the watch. The button one comes in three pieces, which makes it nice and easy to install. The button part, you can leave it off if you prefer, especially on the darker skins, I put it on for kicks and giggles, and it's ok. The opposite side of the watch is a bit trickier because of the longer piece. You just have to line it up just right so you don't have it wrapped more on ones side than the other.
Then the areas right under and below the non movable bezel was another two that were fairly easy to maneuver. Keep in mind all these pieces have a lot of forgiveness. Meaning if you mess up,like I have you are still ok. Just be gentle in pulling the skin up to correct ones misapplied mistake. The biggest PIA was the circular skin that goes lays right outside the bezel. OMG I was freaking out hoping it was on correctly!! LOL It is on pretty good, not my OCD perfect but hell, good enough lol.
To sum, the skin is of very good quality that has a lot of forgiveness in the application process. Not too sure about the bezel one, that was a one and done one! The overall look is pretty kick ass and almost....almost resembles the real thing IMO. Is it worth it? Well if you have used Slickwraps in the past and have good experiences with it like I have, then yes! :good:
Ok ok....pics forthcoming...oh and any questions please ask! Enjoy!
These things look great and they have so many options. Great review.
Moar pics! Now wood everywhere! lol
Just got my Slickwrap this week. I went for back carbon effect with matching Swiss Reimagened black carbon effect strap.
The wrap was easy to fit and well cut. For some reason I didn't get a bit to go in the crown, nor did I get anything in the package apart from the wrap itself. Not even an advice slip to visit a URL.

Custom strap made for me. It's what is called a Maori design. Watches like Magrette watches incorporate some design elements of Maori as well. I just loved the details and had it custom done. My first initial is on the end of the band, Maori style as well for the ultimate customization lol.
This band needed curved 22mm springbars to fit this on the watch due to the thick leather used. Yes they do sell curved spring bars lol.
