For those that are wanting more storage on your rooted Samsung Galaxy S4, (running SlimKat) there is no need to download an app or run a certain program through Terminal Emulator or any other program. The easiest way to accomplish this is simple. Just unroot your device, install your apps onto an external SD Card, unmount your SD Card, reroot your S4, install whatever ROM you want & THEN, & ONLY THEN DO YOU remount your SD Card & VOILA, you will have all your apps on your SD Card. Now, I understand that with some ROM's you can move apps to the SD Card, but with every ROM that I've flashed, you can't move them, so I had to find out a way to create more space & this was by far the easiest.
This may help

Why would you need to root or unroot to tap "Move to SD card" in the App info?
That option was not available for me while using the SlimKat ROM.

Is there a way to swap internal ans external sd card on the GN? I use extensively the storage, and I prefer my apps store their files on a random sd card.
So, I'm also searching an app that can tell other apps to store their stuffs on ext. sdcard. Many apps don t allow user make the choice.
Thanks!

How do I move apps to the external SD card versus what titanium calls the SD card?
Running stock rooted .902

I was under the impression that many apps have a hard time running from the external.

If your taking about manualy backing up your downloaded apps. You can use Root explore or ES file explore with root access added through setting. Go to /data/apps and select all to copy to you external SD. Hope thats the answer you need.
I cannot see that Jelly Bean has the function to move apps to SD card in the settings menu. Any one had same issues or can help?
It's no longer available in Jelly Bean.
Edit: you might want to take a look at this thread. It requires you to be rooted, to partition your SD card and manage the apps using Link2SD.
It's there but only moves media not App data.

Exactly. When I'm selecting "Storage > Use SD Card" it is moving only media to SD card, not app data. How can we move app data too?

It depends from app to app. some app are coded that way that they cannot be moved from phone to usb like banking app and few other apps. some games are automatically downloaded to your usb memory and some apps can be moved as well.
please specify which app you are not able to move and i'll check that.
did you find any solution? because I am unable to move too. the button says move to usb storage. but usb storage is not there.

Sorry sorry it says move to sd card. But there's no sd card inserted. There should be a dedicated button to move to the 16 gb storage.
The 16gb in built storage is referred to as sd card.

So are you saying when first installing the app it's saying no storage space or when you're transferring it to sd card there's not enough space? Two different things.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
when I want to transfer the app then it says no space. I have 8 gb free in storage and around 1 gb internal memory free
What rom are you on? If on jb, try transferring the app to sd using application manager, see if that works. If it still complains it's because you have residual odex files left over from previous uninstall or other expired data files and there are threads on how to remove them.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I have stock jb rom 4.1.2
I am trying using application manager, the app2sd also diverts to the default app manager.
In the application manager, what's the status of the move to sd card button? Is it greyed out or click able? If is greyed out, you will need to use root and TB to move then to sd card.
Sent from my GT-I9500 using xda premium
it's clickable, I can click it but it gives error
I am having the same problem.
I did a fresh factory reset (STOCK JB 4.1.2) and format USB Storage because my Note was becoming unreasonably slow. Needless to say, it's lightning fast now, but as I begin installing apps and internal memory starts decreasing, I want to move apps to the internal SD card (USB Storage) which currently has 11gb free. When trying to move I get "Unable to move app. Not enough storage space". How is this possible?
I do NOT want to use an external SD Card, as the phone starts getting slow whenever anything is downloading to it. Even when updating apps it starts getting stupidly slow to do ANYTHING! Rooting is also NOT an option.
I'm incluing some images to give a better perspective.

App2SD can do that but it is not always possible or recommendable.
For data files i think and depends on the app (i.e. i can set Open Street Map to store all downloaded maps on external sd card)
Best apps to use are link 2sd and folder mount these both need root.
Because of the way the internal memory is mounted as SD card no app2sd will work as they see internal as sdcard.
Link 2sd you set a partition by connecting card to PC without phone use any free windows partition tool set size and make sure it is set as primary, use fat32
Then when you restart phone with ext sdcard inserted link 2sd will ask that a new partition has been detected and how to mount select fat32 then from in app select which files are in the internal memory and select to make link. they are then moved to ext sdcard and free up space.
When you download games they are harder to move data as they look to particular folder only. Folder mount links these files so you can move to ext card and games still works.
Both are free on the play store.

so i need to download link2sd and folder mount? is there any workaround without using these two apps?
Don't know but you won't get any apps to ext sdcard or data without using these or similar.
They load at boot and are active, just click app, game and it will run smoothly.

I guess no... you can't do without root bro..
Wait till root is available for your c5303:highfive: & Then you can move it.
Or you can flash 284 firmware & root it, if you need it urgent.
tanx,im waiting for v16 to root my devise, but can i root then move the app then unroot my devise?cuz i root my galexy note 2 and my battery was drain too fast

Not really as the apps need root to work and every time you boot up you will lose function of apps if you unroot.

Rooting doesn't cause battery drain.
